Floyd Mayweather v Marcos Maidana 2 fight chat thread

If Maidana can't fight on the inside then this fight wasn't worth paying a dime for. Floyd wanted a fair fight you think? NO!!!! Floyd wanted all the advantages.

- Floyd got the large ring, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators.
- Floyd got to hold illegal all night long, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators.
- Floyd got Maidana to wear those pillow gloves, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators.
- Bayless was breaking them up even when Maidana was free, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators
- Maidana got deducted a point with no warnings while Floyd holding, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators

Kenny Bayless disgraced himself, as pointed out by the Showtime commentators


This fight gave Floyd all of the advantages while taking away Maidana's.

Floyd has had 2 KO's since 2005, so it's no great accomplishment to not get Ko'd by him. What surprised me was how ineffective Maidana was. In the first round of the first fight Maidana threw over 100 punches. What did he throw this time around...55? He looked timid and didn't look like he was trying until after he bit Mayweather's hand.
Pathetic display by Maidana.

Just watched the fight wow they judges had the fight a lot closer than me I scored it 10 rounds to 2 plus one of them was a 10-8

Thank god I went to sleep and did not have to watch and pay for this fight. Told you all.

Mayweather looks old and beatable now.

Judges had it a lot close than it was. I only gave Maidana 2 rounds but he did rock Mayweather on the bell at the end of the third.

I do think Maidana bit him, you could tell by the way he answered when Jim asked him. But Mayweather did play drama queen saying his fingers were numb lol

Maidana is not a million times better than the Maidana that fought Khan. Floyd has clearly slowed down a bit and lost some snap in his sugar peas but Maidana is a bit rubbish and would be made to look much worse or stopped by inferior fighters to Floyd. Crazy as it sounds Thurman,Brook hell even Khan if he didn't walk into something could stop Chino. Floyd didn't and couldn't. The undercard was shite too. Certainly not the Value for money team.

Another Mayweather snorefest. Pot shot, pot shot, hold... pot shot.. hold, lazy jab, pot shot, grab, duck below waist height, cling on for dear life... One of these days a referee will grow a pair and start enforcing the rules. If Maidana did bite Floyd it was because he was being held for the thousandth time of the night and the referee was doing nothing about it, also if the ref saw nothing as he seemed to be saying then he should have called box on instead of allowing the Mayweather corner to referee the fight. The point deduction came because Floyd was holding Maidana again and Maidana was trying to get rid of him, the points should have been coming off Floyds slate not the other way round.
He's good at what he does but anyone who believes the TBE stuff is just buying into marketing hype.

If anyone needed time to recover it was Maidana when Mayweather hit him with those body shots in the 11th.

Maidana was wearing the custom flat Everlasts. He got beat and much worse then the first time and the point deduction and bite gate made no difference whatsoever.

It was an ugly fight but Maidana is the one that initiated all the horse shit and lets face it that's the only chance he had of winning. An ugly fight.

Some people want Floyd to lose so bad that they simply make shit up or like Jim Lampley see things during fight time that are not there and calling punches that were not even thrown. Ugly ass fight that Floyd still won 8 rounds to 4 at worst.

One thing I will say on Floyd is that he's lost something and I had been saying that through the entire buildup and it seemed more mental to me then physical which in my view can effect the physical. He seemed to get his mojo back at the weigh in and looked like a man on a mission at fight time but I think that was fronted. I think he has some real issues upstairs and its mixing with his hubris.

He might want to think about getting an outside trainer. His old man never gave him one coherent message in the corner last night or one bit of actual in fight boxing advice unless you include "we got this"

I think Floyd needs Roger back as main trainer and corner man. To me it seems like Floyd gets hit more since senior has been in the corner even though he's supposed to be the more defense first guy.

Something is definitely not right with the guy. Its like he's absent or not all there. That 50 and 0 mark must look like a pretty long road right now. He might want to consider a real shakeup and total change of surroundings imo. I think his personal life is getting to him and combined with all the hubris, that's a dangerous cocktail.

Easy fight for floyd but also "wladdyesque". Bayless was shit not that it would have mattered but would have been nice to see to even give one single warning to floyd for the blatant hugs. I watched it with no sound on, in a bar in Kavos, and felt like Floyd won easily enough. It was always going to be as uncomfortable as the first fight for him. He's not on the slide though. Only a year ago he schooled Alvarez. Maidana is a bad style for him. Simple as that really. And he did bite him. Was obvious to see.

I was actually thinking that myself as well, that Maidana's style was tough for him to deal with. But I think maybe it's that and Mayweather getting older too.

I havent seen the tv version yet but I had this 10-2 to Floyd. Far too quick fro Maidana but it was what I expected and was shocked people accepted this as a credible rematch for Floyd. The 1st fight wasnt close either. I thought the ref was shit but it wouldnt have made a difference. I still maintain Khan could beat Floyd. His speed will allow him to land and if Floyd cant knock him out it should be very close.

The undercards were fun. Molina Soto was a war and Rosa Angulo was entertaining. Bey Vasquez was a snorefest and that 119-109 card was shocking.
