Kahn - agree with you on Warren; don't like him at all. However, Britain is different to America in that there are very, very few successful promoters around. We all know that boxing is, and always has been, a business. Calzaghe could not have dictated to Warren, and who else could he have signed for? Hatton escaped from Warren, but he is a much bigger draw than Joe, therefore he has more opportunities. Every boxing fan must get frustrated about fights that are not competitive, but the days when top fighters fought each other regularly are sadly over.

The 12th round said it all for me, when kesslar went for broke joe couldnt handle the heat, only if he did that for the last 3-4 rounds of the fight and we may have seen a different scoreline.
Concering calzaghi with older greats, would have beat ben, collins etc. Toney close fight
BUT Roy Jones would have given Calzaghi a WHOOPING of a lifetime. Calzaghi depends on his boxing skill when in trouble and is better than most at it, but Roy Jones was a boxing perfectionist on par with Floyd Mayweather, and had knockout power too. No contest Roy Jones.
I was singing Joes praises before the fight but have lost a little respect since, if he were to beat hopkins, and either pavlik, taylor or winky - i would class him as one of the very best fighters ever.
I bet this guy is Danish. ;D Mikkels bacon got smoked. He fought well but he wasn't good enough.

There is no way that Kessler was over rated. He lost a fight to a good fighter. Somebody had to lose. He kept coming forward and continued to attack despite him down on the scorecards. That's courage and pride. Maybe if Calzaghe would've Knocked him out in round 1 than your comment could have had a good argument but no way in hell could I say that Kessler is over rated. He gt beat by someone with experience and who maintained consistency throughout the bout. Plus, he landed his shots too. Just not enough.

Not much better of a way to put that; well said. Kessler seemed to get befuddled and abandoned his jab, but he never quit, just got gun shy due to getting confused. He'll be better off this loss, and a loss to a long reigning champion, so it's almost a win/win situation IMO if he looks at it in terms of the long run.

CC#9 Well put and all valid points,,,,We can't do anything about so sometimes we just need to vent frustration which is all I can do when it comes to the situation
Don't be mistaken Warren is not the only promoter that gets under my skin that way

What did you think of Warren's offer to Hopkins to name the city date and weight of the fight? If that is as transparent as it sounds I'll eat my shoe.

Well then get ready for filet' of sole.......
Re: To me Calzaghe still ain't that good.
Why do people rate Collins so highly? He was a limited fighter who beat a shot Benn. Jones, Calzaghe, Toney, McClellan, Kessler all destroy him. I wouldn't be surprise if Manfredo gave him a run for his money. Collins was a mediocre fighter. Nothing more
[/quote]
You have alot of posts on this site but that dont mean you know S***!!
Collins took the belt off Eubank defended it and beat Benn twice.
he can only beat the guys who were in front of him. He called out Jones but he wanted none of Collins and that is a fact.
also Violent Demise you think Calzaghe would have knocked out collins when they fought(idiot). HHmmm let me see. Benn couldnt when they fought and he was younger than collins, Eubank, Sumbu kalambay couldnt, Mike Mccullum couldnt infact nobody did and Joe is not a hard hitter.
You would have got great odds for that back in the day.
He retired after a doctors advice plus after a scan from the eastman spar. also lack of motivation.

I mean who did they beat at the weight made them so much more special. Joe has been beating everyone in his divsion for ten years and that is all a fighter could do Bernard went down in weight and Roy went up in weight so that why the fights never happened so that all i have to say i am going with Joe to defeat both and thats all i can say.
Who did Roy Jones beat ??
James Toney 44-0 who was p4p 2 or 1 at that time i believe.
Virgil Hill
Bernard Hopkins
Montel Griffin
Reggie Johnson
Eric Harding
John Ruiz
Mike Mccallum old yes but still good.
Merqui Sosa
Vinny Pazienza
Thats 4 Hall Of Famers there need i go on ??
Re: To me Calzaghe still ain't that good.
The main point of the discussion, IWHO, should be that Calzaghe has done more than Jones did @ 168lbs.
Roy made his statement @ 175lbs.
Toney was great & all that...but not @ 168lbs...the same can be said for Hopkins & fighters of the sort.
Yes Roy is great...Yes I'm a huge fan of Roy's...but facts being what they are...Calzaghe is the better & more dominant fighter @ 168lbs.
Re: To me Calzaghe still ain't that good.
Yea but Bernard was dominate at MW not SMW and they were both pretty green. Toney was weight drained at that weight not that it is a excuse but he was better at other weights. Over all at 168 Calzaghe has beat better guys over all and been dominate for 10 years so that to ne makes him number 1 on the list at 168. As far as them fighting who knows i give joe a shot to win does not seem out of the question thats all. I was saying no need to bring names i know who Roy beat and what stage they were when they beaten and what weight class they were at i know.

Jones was more green than Hopkins having less fights Hopkins was still good fighter at that time.
Toney has always had trouble with weight and he was pretty darn good at Supermiddleweight he did dominate Iran Barkley in an excellent performance and also sparked out Prince Charles Williams all at Supermiddleweight Toney was P4P top 3 when Jones beat him fact.

No one is denying that but you were questioning who Jones beat and i can assure you Jones has beat much better fighters plus Jones was only Supermiddleweight for almost 2 years and his win over Toney is better than any of Calzaghe's victories at 168.
Re: To me Calzaghe still ain't that good.
Hey give Kessler sometime he might achieve the level of tony i do not see any one but cal beating him.

No he won't.
Toney has beaten.
Mike McCallum x2
Doug DeWitt
Michael Nunn
Reggie Johnson
Iran Barkley
Prince Charles Williams
Vassiliy Jirov
Evander Holyfield
And has won World titles at.
Middleweight
Supermiddleweight
Cruiserweight
And would of won Heavyweight.
Fighters like Toney don't come around often no way Kessler will achieve anywhere near what Toney has achieved.
Re: To me Calzaghe still ain't that good.
I agree but his win against holyfeild when he beat him is not very impressive. Everything else you said makes since even though half of those titles Wbu and IBO not really belts in alot peoples views.
