Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Do you know what.. we're all talking Groves up. He hash't proved anything so far but the ability to shade Degale in a fight. Could be simple.. just an easy defence for Froch, couldn't it?

Youv got a good point.
I can see Groves giving Froch problems but on past performances against the likes of Anderson and Smith how does Groves stop Froch?
The only way I can see is to do what he did against DeGale. Fight like hes in against Mike Tyson and back peddle and skirt tye ring, much like Haye did against Valuev.
As long as Froch forces the action and starts quick again I have a hard time seeing Groves win. I could still see Groves giving Carl problems until the 7th or so and then downhill from there.
smith? it was a nice punch but he wasnt trouble by it, groves win over smith was impressive
i still back groves, first time ive backed against froch
He was troubled by it, the only reason he didnt get in any more trouble is because its Smith! A fighter who should be a middleweight and who struggles with british level fighters.
Had that been Froch it would have been similar to the Bute ending!
If and when Groves gets hurt Carl can keep pouring it on and its doubtfull Groves has the wherewithal to hurt or stop the oncoming rampage from one of the fittest and toughest fighters in the world.
Groves was even in a little bit of trouble at the end of the first round against Johnson, who he had been throwing everything at!;D
i dont agree, i dont think he was, he stepped back, but there was no sign he was shaken
groves win over johnson was much more impressive than froches,
i accept that johnson had a lot more ambition against froch
I should hope so.
Froch fought him coming off stopping Green and Mack and getting robbed against Cloud and pushing Dawson.
Groves fougt him after Forch beat him, then Bute beat him then some fringe contender. He was on a run of 3 straight losses and looked absolutely useless against Bute.
so whats your point?
How can a win over someone on a run of 3 consecutive losses be considered more impressive than a win over him when he was coming off one of his best recent performances and run of performances.
My obvious point being, in no way at all was Groves win over Johnson any more impressive than Frochs.
course it was, he battered him every round
Who did he batter every round?
Someone who had officially anounced his retirement after 3 consecutive losses and his last before being tempted out of retirement being a loss to a journeyman;D Wow! Very impressive, in fact so much so he's now the overwhelming favourite against Froch.....
no one said he was the favourite coz of the Johnson win
in fact no one has said he is the favourite

this is what everyone is saying likes
could be exactly what means it isnt
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Think Froch has either taken a few shots too many or he is just plain shit at maths.
In this article he seems to think Groves will be his 14th world title fight;D

No, even if you count all the titles involved it would still only be his 13th:vd:
Edit,
I forgot to put the two titles together as we all know one fight with two titles being defended is "technically" 2 fights ;D
Counting all the titles would be like Mike Tyson saying his first title reign was 29 title fights;D

Yeh, you're right, it's probably a bit silly.. does the 13 include the WBA "Super" belt? May make it 14. I prefer the days when it was simpler .. I take your point about Tyson.
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
Johnny's job is to sell the PPV, so starts bullshitting about Groves having Froch in trouble when sparring, Woodhall was there and is having none of it. ;D

Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I saw Froch sparring Barker a bit today on that program on sky about Froch. Froch was in command and landed some good punches he is looking sharp as well. Froch is up for this and I don't give a shit if Groves seems to think he had the upper hand in ringside. He's giving himself false hope because it won't matter as soon as Froch is in the ring. I watched Groves-Anderson again today, Anderson had Groves down in that fight and applied pressure. He took that fight on two weeks notice and showed us where Groves is weak. Imagine Froch on the front foot with his speed and power? It doesn't look good at all for Groves.
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
I think Groves is in over his head, but I'd love to see him give a good account of himself. He needs to box smart & stay out of harms way, make the fight boring, jab, clinch, throw the right to keep Froch honest, but I feel he needs to box a perfect fight to win here
Re: Froch - Groves to meet on Sky Ringside special
The sparring was just brief edited highlights but I wouldn't give Barker a chance of lasting two rounds, if they really did fight, after seeing that.
