That's where the problems start for you, but for him it's marketing-- it's how he's attracted people to his fights, and made him the richest athlete in recent years.
If that stuff interests you then that's fine. I prefer my fighters to prove what they say they can do in the ring.
It's what interests him. I'm pretty sure he's quite happy that you aren't impressed by him. The haters fuel his career more than his fans. For years people have been watching his fights with the hope of seeing him lose for the very reason that they don't like him and his arrogant persona.
I'd just like to see him back up his words. If GGG is such an easy fight wouldn't he take it for an easy payday?
Even Flomo's know that GGG wrecks Floyd at middleweight.

Like I said in the opening post. The forum had been very quiet so I thought a Floyd thread might generate some conversation.

I don't know the answer, because I never posted that. But one serious question for you? Obviously you're a big Fan of Floyd's Rocco, my question is , Do you want to see him fight again, and if so, Who against?
the reason I ask this is I don't believe Floyd's fans particularly want to see him fight, I don't think Floyd particularly wants to fight, so why the fuck does everybody try to make these ridiculous match ups?
I'd love to see Floyd fight McGregor.
Floyd is pretty much done with boxing. I believe he's gone on record as saying that he doesn't enjoy the sport, and hasn't for some time. He is however, in the very unusual position to be able to profit from his boxing skill, talent for self promotion, and the current fixation on boxing vs UFC. He can make himself a shit tonne of money by promoting a mega fight against McGregor--a man who has followed Mayweather's blueprint for self promotion.
Now, boxing fans are mad a Floyd for not fighting all the biggest and heaviest fighters, or the current crop of top prospects. But he's not interested in boxing, or pleasing fans. He's put his health and life on the line for over 20 years of professional prize fighting, and now he just wants to make money. He doesn't want to take any more damage to his brain or body simply for your entertainment. He doesn't want to make other men (management, promoters, gamblers, etc...) a bunch of money by being beat up. He just wants to make money. Which is completely sensible -- but so many people have bought into Floyd's "Money" Mayweather persona, that they hate any, and everything he does.
What Floyd understands, and what many many boxing fans don't, is that prize fighting is about money. Fighters fight for money. Not glory, not to have the picture on the green belt, not to have an amazing set of statistics. Money.
I pretty much agree with every word you said, and I gave your post a like................ EXCEPT for the first sentence.
Why would you "Love to see Mayweather fight MacGregor"? I'm stumped if I'm honest.
I think the World has gone stone cold fucking crazy! I don't know why anyone with half a brain would want to actually see that fight. Now, I know the MMA fans would want to see it, and that frankly proves what I said about anyone with half a brain, but a boxing fan who knows everything there is to know about Floyd? Surely not for fucks sake.
We all know if this happens, it's strictly Boxing , no half and half bullshit. Let's be fair, MacGregor probably wouldn't even be a good enough boxer to become Irish Champion, definitely not British level, yet in his first Pro fight under Queensbury rules, we expect him to make a fight of it against a guy who until he retired almost 2 years ago, was undisputed p4p #1 in the World?
This is getting ridiculous!
I respect Mayweather, without being a big, for want of a better word, "Flomo", and I would never want to see him in a ring again ever! If I was a mega fan, that's the last thing I would want.
Because I love watching two ego maniacs fights knowing one will likely get destroyed and will have to live in shame for their failure.

Utter rubbish. You want Floyd to fight so you can jack off for his 50th fight to claim he is the greatest of all time. No other reason.
GGG would tear him a new hole if he dared to try to challenge him.
I don't think boxing would stoop so low as to grant Floyd his 50th win for beating a UFC guy.
Besides, isn't he....... "done with boxing"?
Then again, not much surprises me anymore.

Nothing is too low for boxing man. I swear to you that not only does this travesty of a fight take place.....Floyd will want credit A) for taking such a dangerous fight and B ) for beating such a dangerous foe. That said, Floyd will shit on McGregor every chance he gets...but oh that's to HYPE the fight :vd: after the fight he'll say "Listen, Conor McGregor is a great fighter, he has a warrior spirit. I beat him, I deserve credit for beating such a dangerous fighter"
Re: How many losses should Mayweather have on his record?
I think some of you may finally be starting to grasp the idea of SELF PROMOTION.
Re: How many losses should Mayweather have on his record?
So he's "done with boxing"..... will proceed to make a mockery out of it by fighting someone who's NOT a professional boxer. Furthermore, he hasn't "enjoyed the sport for some time now." He thumbs his nose at boxing fans, who have made him a multi-millionaire. Yet, you're one of his biggest fans, and presumably are in favor of gifting him his "50" after his win over McGregor. Does that pretty much sum it up?

As a follower of the boxing here's the takeaway: Floyd is no longer relevant in the main stream of the sport
He holds no title, he's not chasing down any titles, he's not fighting a challenger, he's not fighting any up and comers, he's not fighting any boxers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D5Sa2Yq-2g
At this point right now Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a circus act, he's not in a pound for pound discussion, he's still got money bless him, but with his lifestyle that's going to fry up.....he's not getting younger, he's not getting better, it's all downhill for him now and the saddest part is.......what if an MMA fighter of all people, an MMA fighter who has never boxed as an amateur or professionally takes his 0.....surely that's the ultimate egg on the face moment for the sport of boxing no? Surely that's the biggest ding to a legacy that could ever happen right? Bigger than Douglas vs Tyson, bigger than Tarver over RJJ II, bigger than James Toney making Holyfield quit, bigger than Berbick defeating Ali.....it would be just a horrible mark on his career.

Floyd is working very hard behind the scenes trying to make the fight. He will pretend he does not care if he fights again but is desperate for the limelight. His ego is bigger than his bank balance.

Do you actually think McGregor has a chance? Even an old inactive retired Mayweather will still school him. There won't be any shame for McGregor as it will be his 1st boxing fight and he was man enough to fight by the other guys rules. He'll take his millions and move on happily. You have even stated that Floyd "doesn't want to take any more damage to his brain or body simply for your entertainment". So you must be fooling yourself if you think there's a chance Floyd gets destroyed. If they made this a 5 or 6 round exhibition with alternating rounds between boxing and MMA it would actually be interesting. Finally when was the last time Floyd destroyed anyone? You can have Ortiz if you like cause I know you'll take it. I will be surprised if he stops McGregor a guy who has never boxed before.
Re: How many losses should Mayweather have on his record?
Pretty excited to see what happens.
