Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
I agree with Mick,I don't understand Cottos' team taking this fight..Zab has lost a few and other than financial reasons,I don't see why they chose Judah. I would rather have seen a Mosley fight,it would have been much bigger!

Zab is still a big name has a lot of fans and that will bring the doe. Don't forget he was an undisputed welterweight champ who argueably won 5 rounds against the p4p no.1 last year and there is nothing better than watching someone as talented as Zab let you think he is going to win only to fall apart and get KTFO!! ;D
sry if someone already wrote this but I'm too lazy to read 14 pages :P

Didn't get to see enough of Zab so I'll have to go by the last time he won against Rivera and look at that fight.
Going by that fight and by Cotto's last fight. Yes I'm favoring Zab in the fight

It's simple. This is a step up in competition for Cotto, and Zab is a name opponent.
As up-and-coming fighters (like Cotto) progress thru their career, they need to fight tougher and tougher opponents as they work their way toward the top.
Judah is by far Cotto's toughest opponent to date, and he's the biggest name he's fought as well. If Cotto beats Judah, then he's proven he can beat someone of Judah's caliber, which he hasn't done yet.

Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
personally my favorite fight so far of COTTOS was the one with ricardo torres DAMN SON that was exciting! both showed mad heart too!

WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I like Cotto i think he is a great aggressive fighter ive just got this feeling Judah is going to win
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Having seen the last fight of Cotto, I'd like him to win.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Cotto breaks up Judah and wins in 9th.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I don't want Judah to win ive just got a feeling he will PLUS GUYS MAKESURE YOU VOTE WHEN YOU COMMENT ;)
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
It depends if Judah can fight the full twelve and not go to sleep, in certain rounds he has the speed and talent to keep Cotto at bay, if it goes twelve i fancy Judah if not i think Cotto could stop him.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Judah will win the early rounds with Cotto going to the body and trying to protect upstairs. By the mid rounds Cotto will start to take over from all of the body shots slowing Zab down and then (T)KO Zab after the 8th.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Yes, Judah is really a skilled fighter, but has he the chin to survive to someone like Cotto ? I serioulsly doubt it. I mean, Cotto hits harder than Tsyu, is younger, hungrier than the Tsyu who fought Judah...
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Judah was the speed and power to cause Cotto alot of problems just dont think he can keep away from Cotto for the full 12 rounds. So i voted Cotto, think he will stop Judah late with his body attacks.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I fancy Cotto to take this via stoppage. Having said this i think anything is possible in this one. I can see Judah or Cotto winning a decision or by stoppage, wouldnt surprised me if lil Zab goes nuts and gets DQ'd either!
Cotto....tko 10.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I voted for cotto. not to say judah has no chance at all in fact he has every chance in this fight, judah now comes as a dark horse rather than the same man we know. if cotto could deliver a series of punches that could hurt judah then his weak minded/hearted side will eventually take over very soon. judah is skilled but that will be no use anymore when focus is gone already. And i believe somewhere in 8-10 rounds cotto will deliver crushing blows and body damaging effect that will eventually pile up. The match will end by either cotto winning by decision or via stoppage. bold prediction as always. ;D
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I have a feeling in me gut that this will be disastrous for Cotto.

I think that is what makes this fight so interesting. Even thou everybody is picking Cotto, Judah could very well come in ready for everything and get a W. Judah has a ton of talent is a matter of him getting his head on straight. If he can come in like he did in the second fight against Spinks then Cotto is going to have a lot of problems early on. Judah hasnt shown that he can keep it up over the full distance and if he tries to come in to land just that one blow then he will be in for a long night. It is almost a pick em fight but I have to stand by my boy COTTO!!!

Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
This looks like a brilliant match-up.
As long as when Zab comes under pressure, and goes into toddler mode, he doesn't do something really silly it has the makings of a close fight.
Cotto certainly isn't no 1/5 favourite.. 7/2 for the mental midget looks a decent bet.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
Miguel will have some shaky moments, dealing with Zab's awesome speed but he will show his heart and his skills and break Zab down to the head and body. Cotto via late stoppage. I don't see this fight going the distance.
-
Re: WHO WINS JUDAH OR COTTO ?
I voted Judah, hes too fast and is gonna make Cotto look bad. He just has to avoid getting close and he should give Cotto alot of problems.
-
Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
-
Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
I VOTED COTTO I THINK IF COTTO CAN GET PAST THE EARLY ROUNDS THAN ITS GONNA BE ALL COTTO AND THAT DEVISTATING LEFT HOOK IS GONNA DO SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE IN THE LATER ROUNDS.
-
Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
I actually am going with Judah on this one. This fight will be his last Hurrah if he loses. I think that we will see a hungry focused Judah, the same one that beat Mickey Ward.

I agree. Someone should do one of those threads like we've done in the past where everyone's name and prediction get posted at the top of the thread. I'd do it myself, but I really don't have time to constantly update as would need to be done. I think this is a real tough one to predict though, people (typically those picking cotto) seem to have strong views, and i really don't see this one making it to the cards, whichever way it goes.

I don't know if THAT Zab Judah still lives, but if he does then he has a decent chance, 5/2 or so.

Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
I just watched the Judah-Galvan fight.
How many people did Judah bring into the ring with him??? LMAO.
I think there were more people in Judah's entourage than there were in the stands.

He fought in what appeared to be a School Gym. LMAO!!!

Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
Seems that the biggest thing here is that people think Judah will do good early, and then fade late allowing Cotto to catch up to him.
Suppose Judah really works on his conditioning and paces himself early and is still strong in the late rounds.
But it seems that everyone feels like Cotto's power will bail him out sooner or later and are counting on a mental breakdown of Zab. And no one is saying that Cotto is going to beat Zab without Zab not having some sort of mental breakdown or tire.
Would I be correct in that assesment?

Way off with me personally. I feel Zab will give Cotto some issues with his speed but Super could not take Floyd's bodyshots,Cotto hits to body much harder. Cotto will break him down with bodyshots, and surprise him by going upstairs when least expected. Miguel has shown heart beating Torres so even if the going gets tough,I feel Cotto has what it takes to win. I don't see Judah knocking Cotto out or stopping him.

I could definately maintain a thread like that, I have nothing but time!! As a matter of fact I'll start one now.

Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
Just picked up my tix to Cotto-Judah.
Lightened the wallet significantly, but it's worth it for championship boxing at Madison Square Garden.

You the man!
I was trying to see if I could make it outhere but unfortunately I couldn't as I have to work that weekend. :(
But you'll be there and ANY time a Saddo fella is at a event WE are all there with him. If you can take a camera and snap some pictures I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. Hope you enjoy the fights and the night as a good boxing night IMO is by far the BEST experience in sports one could have.
Whats the last card/fight you wen't to? (if you don't mind me asking)

This is my FIRST EVER boxing card. Can you believe that?
Big PPV fight at Madison Square Garden... not a bad way to start I guess. There will be plenty of cold beverages being consumed for sure.
(By the way, I originally planned on getting tix to Gatti-Ward I, but my college graduation was the next morning, so I decided not to get tix. BIG mistake.)
-
Re: ***Done Deal - Miguel Cotto vs Zab Judah June 9th!***
Haha ouch on the Gatti - Ward. But cool stuff, I imagine with the Puerto Rican parade the next day, and Zab's popularity in BK that it should be quite a crowd.
On the subject of live fights, Mick you still goin to Guzman - Katsidis? Tickets ringside for $100 :o My friends are talkin about going to disneyland (gay) sometime in that timeframe, but I'm thinking of making the So Cal trip somehow just to get at that one.
