Re: < Pac vs. Diaz - Free For ALL!! Talk, Pics, Vids and all >
I don't think it was his best performance by any means Bilbo come on. No way he KO'd Morales, a slightly faded Morales but whatever. Maybe his most dominant but he was in the ring where that performance was expected of him. Diaz is one of the slower champions in boxing and just stayed on the outside where he was able to hit Diaz at will. Really this should be no surprise to anyone, all of those who were giving Diaz a chance were really misguided imo. Diaz beat Morales not because he was better but because Morales was so badly faded that he didn't have the legs to keep Diaz out of his gut. Diaz literally got no inside work tonight, it was all outside and frankly Diaz made it even easier then it already was for Pacquiao.
A match up with Hatton is really a pointless fight, there is no reason for it as there is plenty of competition at lightweight to say the least. And I wouldn't really be all that interested in seeing him tread the same waters and take on Marquez either.
Guzman is the fight I want to see.

Pretty brutal night of boxing, huh? Still disappointed by the Cortez debacle, but otherwise, what I saw was great!

I feel the same thing bro. Diaz had no business being in the ring with Pac at all. What a fukking mismatch.
I hope Diaz is alright.

Don't know why you was anxious it was pretty clear from previous fights that Diaz wasn't in Pacquiao's league, he is a limited brawler who is tough and thats basically it, i would like to see how Pacquiao does against some of the best boxers at 135 like Guzman, Casamayor, Marquez 3, Campbell etc.

I really hope we get to - I'd rather see some of those matchups than see Pacquiao jump to 140 for a Hatton fight.
Although I'd enjoy that one too, I'm sure.

Re: < Pac vs. Diaz - Free For ALL!! Talk, Pics, Vids and all >
Diane,
someone deleted your post but to answer it, it was pac that was pulling daiz up. Right when he turned back around from the nuetral corner he had a concern look on his face. He was looking at how hurt Daiz was so he walked up to him to try help him up. When pac tried to pull him up Diaz slightly woke back up. So it did help a bit, but a gentlemen waved pac away so he could tend to Diaz. Almost like how Tyson would try to help his oppenent up after he knocked them senseless.
gotta love Diaz in the interview though, "shyt manny is so fast i thought freddy was punching me in there too," ;D

Awesome! I just heard that there will be a Pacquiao vs Diaz II! Yep! Diaz deserves a rematch specially after a very close and competitive fight....................yeah right! Since round 1 I could see clearly that Diaz didn't have the power or even stance to give Pac a challenge.

Since Mayweather Jr is retired Pacquiao certainly deserves P4P number 1, he has won 5 titles in 5 weight classes which is tied with Mayweather, plus he has the most quality wins than any other fighter in boxing at the moment except Mayweather Jr but like i said he is retired at the moment.

Re: < Pac vs. Diaz - Free For ALL!! Talk, Pics, Vids and all >
That was a quality display from Pac. Didn't put fist nor foot wrong. It was a step up in weight and it was convincing. There are any number of fights that can be made for Pac at 135.
The result was not unexpected and as gutsy as Diaz is, he really isnt the best at 135.
A job well done.

Just a bit concerned about how my boy would fare at 135, both in terms of power and ability to take heavier punches. I wouldn't say he passed it superbly but he did it pretty well, no doubt...
...You must be little sad about pbf's retirement, but don't worry, I bet he'll be back after the Margarito-Cotto fight, and take on the winner and give him a nice beating.;)

great read guys i was flagging last night and knew i wouldn;t make it here... but i know the site slowed a bit but this is the first pac fight that didnt crash the server so i'm happy about that ;)

Nah im not sad bro i know he will be back guaranteed the only thing im worried is about is that by the time he comesback i won't have time to watch his comeback fight. Your boy is also closing in on Mayweather for the current P4P best, Mayweather needs to fight Margarito vs Cotto winner to establish himself as the true P4P number 1, because Pacquiao is closing in fast.

I don't count the Morales fights becuase in the third especially he was completely shot at that weight, it was like Gatti Gomez. I havn't thought th e Pacman looked too hot in recent outings to be honest, lackluster against a couple non names, the second Barrera was a snoozer and I thought he lost to Marquez. This fight was by far his best performance since the first Barrera fight imo.

What does this thread even mean Majesty? We found out his weight carries to 135 lbs and that he's capable of mixing it in the lightweight class. We found out he hasn't lost the hunger and continues to perform at the very top level, we found out his speed carries to 135 lbs and we found out that a potential mega fight with Ricky Hatton is far from an absurd fight as a lot of critics have hinted.
I think we learned a lot about Manny, what else did you expect to see? That he's going to switch to being an orthadox fighter or that he was going to unveil his own version of the Philly Shell defense?

Re: < Pac vs. Diaz - Free For ALL!! Talk, Pics, Vids and all >
Just found this
Francisco Lorenzo (33-4, 14 KOs), who had been down and was being battered, was ruled a disqualification winner against Humberto Soto at 2:43 of the fourth round after Soto was ruled by referee Joe Cortez to have hit him while he was down.
They were fighting for an interim junior lightweight title, which was made available by the WBC because champion Pacquiao was moving up to challenge for a lightweight title in the main event. However, because of the controversial ending, the WBC elected not to award the interim title, which remains vacant.
It was Soto's second crack at a 130-pound title and another disappointment. He lost a decision to Joan Guzman in November after being outboxed over the second half of the fight. But Soto, 28, had no such problems against Lorenzo.
Soto (43-7-2, 27 KOs), 27, took control from the outset and was rocking Lorenzo, 36, of the Dominican Republic, with a steady stream of hard blows.
But then confusion reigned in the fourth round. Lorenzo was bleeding from his nose, had gone down from a left uppercut and was being dominated.
After the knockdown, Lorenzo was trying to grab Soto but Soto connected in the corner.
Lorenzo, who had been outlanded 19-4 in the round, took a knee. But referee Joe Cortez didn't count, instead indicating that Soto had hit him while he was down.
"He got disqualified because he got hit while he was down," Cortez. "That's a disqualification. I watched the replay to make sure that is what I saw."
Replays indicated that Soto had indeed thrown a punch but that, at best, it grazed Lorenzo's head.
"I don't understand. I didn't hit him when he was down. It was all glancing," Soto said. "I'm really surprised. I never imagined it would come to this. Luck has not been with me."
While Soto was sent to a neutral corner, Lorenzo lay bleeding on the canvas with the doctor looking at him. Cortez conferred with Nevada commission executive director Keith Kizer and other commission officials. After several minutes, Cortez called off the fight and Lorenzo was given the victory.
"It was a good stoppage because I was hit in back of the head while I was down," Lorenzo said.
When he raised his hands, the crowd booed loudly.
Soto had been mentioned as a possible opponent for Pacquiao in the fall. Now, perhaps, there will be a rematch with Lorenzo.
"I don't know if he wants a rematch because in the rematch I would knock his head off," Soto said.

No he didnt ??? He didn't win 5 titles in 5 weight classes...
As far as quality names go
Ok 3 main names on Mayweather's resume
Corrales, Castillo, De La Hoya, Hatton
and 3 main names Pacquiao's resume
Barerra, Morales, Marquez
Thats 1 more
But it doesn't matter as Mayweather is retired

I root for ODLH but winning against Forbes is not something that gets me too excited. Same thing with Cotto on his last fight and Pac yesterday. It doesn't take away the fact that ODLH, Cotto, and Pac are who they are but fighting against that kind of opposition don't get me exited at all.

Nice question!
Regardless of how they won, can we say that both were a complete nightmare threat to the three of them? I am an ODLH fan but I don't blind myself to see the reality and that includes HIS FLAWS (something Pac and Cotto fans seem to omit). It's not like I'll come here and make all this hype about it. ODLH faced someone that was not a threat just like Cotto and Pac did. I also mentioned how it was expected from ODLH to knock out a guy like him but just didn't. Did he look good? Umh, I guess, but not knocking him out didn't help much.
Anyways, 3 of them (including ODLH who I root for) facing the guys they faced don't do much to me.
-
Re: < Pac vs. Diaz - Free For ALL!! Talk, Pics, Vids and all >
Man that was impressive by Pac, he looked real comfortable in there, and stopped Diaz convincingly. Judging by that performance he hasn't lost anything at lightweight. If he keeps this up, he's going to go down as the greatest "smaller" fighter ever.
