From what I've seen this is somewhat apples and coconuts from what the act covered and what Trump has stated he wants. But I think much of the chaos is Trump has yet to be specific and propose a detailed plan and it's more catch phrases and talking point and now with this whole National emergency talk it's turning a little hysterical. Trying to keep it down the middle..isn't the fact that those same dems voted for barriers, funding and both the Bush Administration and Congress back then found compromise to get the act done go against all the Trump "open boarders" railing now? And members of both parties agreed early in yr to some initial funding in conjunction with dreamer deal, Trump agreed and then he bailed. He went out and dismissed what was passed as a nothing during the campaign..and now he's agreeing steel barriers may be better. He's off the rails trying to ramrod this wall blockade through and was whipped back in line by some media after again agreeing to a budget and bailing. It's all very much a clusterfeck and he owns it. These people in the swamp..allllll of them..need to get their collective stuff together.
I will say it's a bit screwball watching all the outcry about refunds being held up when some of us *cough..have had them stolen over the last couple of years because of some "shared responsibility" penalty BS from mandated healthcare.
It kind of proves the opposite. Assuming the wall was actually worth building it would take a couple of centuries to raise enough money to do it via crowdfunding at the current donation rate. That's whay we need some kind of government to collect taxes to pay for the things that actually are needed.
If you don't like living in a country with a relatively effective government and would prefer a libertarian paradise with no government, taxes or regulation they do actually exist. I understand Somalia still has some nice beaches that haven't yet been used by modern day pirates to dump shiploads of toxic waste that no other country will accept. The rest of the country may not be as nice though. You may need to spend some of the money you pay in taxes on weapons and so on.
After two years of draining the swamp the Department of Defence is being run by a defence contractor executive, cutting out the middle man, Interior is being run by an oil lobbyist, the Environmental Protection Agency is being run by a coal lobbyist, Health and Human Services by a big pharma lobbyist, and all the financial regulators are being run either directly by bank lobbyists or by lawyers who are temporarily not working either for the banks or law firms that earn billions defending banks against the same regulators and who will earn 99 percent of their lifetime earnings from banks either directly or indirectly. It's quite an impressive operation Trump is running.
Did you vote for this man?

She seems like a nice girl. If I lived in Michigan or wherever she's from I would have voted for her as part of the Democratic party's historical popular vote margin win last year, yes.
By the way , that secure fence act thing? Would have built a couple of hundred miles of a fence you can easily get over and supplied a few more bodies to police a border that neither side actually wants to stop immigrants coming over. It also would have legalised all the illegal immigrants currently in the country, given them a path to citizenship and so on. Ther ehave been a whole bunch of immigration deals done between the parties over the past couple of decades but they're always blown up by the Rush Limbaugh wing of the GOP. Same with this recent budget deal that Trump was going to sign until they blew it up. Trump is just too weak to stand up to the loonies in his own party.
I'm Kirkland Laing. I'm always right about everything.
While I'm here I'll just leave this for future reference. The Trump shutdown will delay GDP figures but it looks like GDP cracked three percent for the first time in a long time.
However. This is fifty percent due to a gigantic tax cut, eighty five percent of which went to the wealthy and fifty percent because of increased government spending. The increased spending and the decreased revenue (remember all those experts claiming the tax cut would pay for itself) have created an ongoing yearly trillion dollar deficit during an economic expansion. During the next recession the deficit could hit two teillion a year.
Some light reading:
A stark pickup in government spending, particularly in defense, has helped fuel a broad acceleration in U.S. economic growth in the past year and a half, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of Commerce Department data.
The U.S. economy has expanded at a 2.9% annual rate since April of 2017, according to the Commerce Department’s tabulations of the nation’s gross domestic product, or output. That growth rate is faster than the 2.2% annual growth rate between mid-2009—when the expansion started—and April 2017.
Faster government spending accounted for nearly half of the acceleration, according to The Wall Street Journal analysis.
The Commerce Department breaks down various contributors to economic growth, including government spending, business investment, consumer outlays and exports.

So it turns out Manafort was actually colluding with the Russians. I suppose it's too difficult for the liberal media to ask Trump what did he know about his campaign manager colluding with the Russians and when did he know it.
Where are you Lyle? You need to get that twenty dollars ready.
I'm going to dump both these articles in here. Both worth a read.

Another financial industry bod comes out and states the obvious. Only ten years behind me:
Billionaire hedge fund founder Ray Dalio may not be the first person you’d think of as a crusader against capitalism.
But at the Summit conference in Los Angeles this week, he questioned the current U.S. economic system. “Capitalism is basically not working for the majority of people,” he said.
[...]
Dalio has spoken about the pressing problem of inequality for years—and has warned that artificial intelligence will help to worsen it.
In his speech this week, he cited a Federal Reserve survey statistic that 40% of U.S. households could not raise $400 in case of emergency without selling something.
“We might not have contact with those people, but that is a reality,” Dalio told the crowd, who paid thousands of dollars to sit on the Palace Theater’s velvet seats and hear him speak.
The current polarization—both politically and socially—is most analogous to the 1930s, he argued. “It has to be dealt with,” Dalio said, saying if he were running things, he’d declare the wealth gap and opportunity gap a “national emergency.”

Trump decides to pull out of Syria. His Secretary of Defence resigns over it along with a couple of other people. Now apparently Israel have given him his marching orders and America is going to stay there until some things that will never happen happen. Any Trump fans want to defend this? Come on Lyle, I know you're lurking. Trump. Weak. Flip flopper. Come on then.
The so-called "Chosen" people despise him and bash him every day on CNN but he still kisses their asses. The last president who didn't comply with them was JFK, and we all know what happened to him.

Trump knows that no one can be critical of the Chosen and get away with it - no matter who they are, right or left, president or ordinary citizen, white or black. You can criticize any other group, but not the Chosen.

'I find China easier to deal with than the opposition party'...dear god :vd:. After 1 meeting where he stomps his feet and walks out of. What in the hell is going on in this Country..it's insanity.
The best thing about the government shutdown is that NASA ain't getting a cent.
I hope the government never reopens :-X
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her Republican critics have both called her proposal to dramatically increase America's highest tax rate "radical" but a new poll released Tuesday indicates that a majority of Americans agrees with the idea.
In the latest The Hill-HarrisX survey, which was conducted Jan. 12 and 13 after the newly elected congresswoman called for the U.S. to raise its highest tax rate to 70 percent, found that a sizable majority of registered voters, 59 percent, supports the idea.
Ocasio-Cortez has not introduced any legislation to enact the concept but the survey shows a broad cross-section of Americans supports it, at least presently.
Women support the idea by a 62-38 percent margin. A majority of men back it as well, 55 percent to 45 percent. The proposal is popular in all regions of the country with a majority of Southerners backing it by a 57 to 43 percent margin. Rural voters back it as well, 56 percent to 44 percent.
Increasing the highest tax bracket to 70 percent garners a surprising amount of support among Republican voters. In the Hill-HarrisX poll, 45 percent of GOP voters say they favor it while 55 percent are opposed to it.
Independent voters who were contacted backed the tax idea by a 60 to 40 percent margin while Democratic ones favored it, 71 percent to 29 percent.

How about that then?
Also, too,
WASHINGTON — In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.
The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.
The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

This isn't looking good for Donald Fredovich, is it?
I'd have to say..... whichever side you're on regarding Trump and his battles, it's painful to see the government shutdown going on a month now with no end in sight.
Looking beyond crooked politicians with axes to grind, there's hundreds of thousands of people affected. Be it government employees sent home without a paycheck.... those forced to work but again without a paycheck.... and the thousands and thousands of contractors and business owners dependent on the government for their income..... you gotta feel for those people. Not only that, but some of the agencies affected by the shutdown are critical to the public's health and safety. The FDA and the FAA to name a couple. Disgruntled air traffic controllers working without pay can't be a comforting thought to those who travel with any sort of frequency, as neither is the airline/aircraft safety inspectors that have been sent home. The FDA, cumbersome and bureaucratic as it may seem, still performs some vital tasks important to public health. It's tough to see the effect on this as the shutdown drags on.
If you look at the main issue itself, you'd have to think there could be some sort of compromise that could be reached just so the government could begin working again. On the one side, Trump says it's the $5.7 billion for the wall, or nothing. On the other side, Democrats are making a mess of things by taking out their anti-Trump agenda on the general public.... not a good look. Still.... from the beginning I always thought spending so much money on a wall was questionable use of public funds. Mexico was never going to agree to pay for it... that's ridiculous. Plus there are so many other ways to beef up security at the border, other than building a "castle-moat" style wall. Walls can be tunneled under, flown over, walked around, or bored through. With such high tech available, a simple wall/fence could be complemented with all sorts of surveillance technology. But whatever. The fanatics on both sides will predictably rush to the extreme ends of the spectrum, as always.
The main point is the effect the shutdown is having on people in the U.S.
Kirk, the presidents right to fire the fbi director is his constitutionally protected right. You can’t have a pres fulfill his constitutional duty and then go back and say it was criminal. Go back to a sixty minutes interview when Comey was appointed he was saying his speciality and priority will be cyber crime against the US government and corporations. Gee he did a bang up job on that one. The Comey and McCabe are under investigation for leaking. Also, he used his gmail account to transmit sensitive government intel which he lied to Congress about. The dude failed at his command. All this interference by Russia occurred under his watch and obama said it was no big deal. As far as Cortez, she has not one clue what she is talking about. She is saying oh we will do this and that for clean energy, mind you there is no technology available for her proposal. The girl was a bartender that stole tips and lied to her coworkers, which is standard in Congress in a way. You think people will support a 70 percent tax rate? You know what that leads to. Making people who make over 90k a year wealthy and whacking them. Don’t buy the bullshit Kirk, look at the numbers of what some of her proposals will cost. How long will millenials remain socialists? I know, until they start paying taxes. Nothing turns a liberal into a conservative quicker than when the taxes become real.
In closing Cortez is already being frozen out. She will not get on any major commitee, people will see she just flaps her gums and if the Dems continue down these extreme roads it all bight them in the ass. Ok, now don’t use logic, just keep copy and posting. You really are an idiot. I don’t think even you believe this shit. When you serve at the pleasure of the president u can be fired, it’s a constitution thing, you can’t go back and say well that was illegal because he used his constitutional power. Comey was a hack. Sure trump is a secret kremlin agent. Russia has about the same GDP as Italy, a few Facebook accounts and meetings with bill, Hillary and many more going back to the Cold War has really changed our democracy. How many elections has the US and Britain interfered with. Israel interfered with our elections, that’s a proven. Obama got involved in brexit. We armed opposition rebels all over the world and still do. But often we do it with high tech weapons and dumping guns all over countries. Sure, trump was a public figure for 40 years. Never a peep about him being a racist commie. All the sudden, he becomes a conservative president and he is a racist Nazi kremlin puppet. Don’t Nazis hate commies. You use no critical thinking. You read and believe. I’m 90 percent sure you are a troll but this occasio Cortez will be a side note if that unless she joins up with Schumer and Pelosi which may happen when people find she is a joke. You want to hang your hat on her go ahead.
And fuck the shut down. Every federal worker, when the shutdown ends will receive all back pay. People in America who are laid off don’t get that. They get a handshake and a good luck. I don’t have a lot of pity on them. Don’t forget, it’s a partial government shutdown and I’m glad to see it happen. Americans will still get tax refunds, all federal refunds will get paid for all time lost during the shutdown but u just go ahead and paste and copy. That seems about all trolls can do.
Jesus, are you Lyle in disguise? Two paragraphs of run on sentences full of garbage you've half remembered from Rush Limbaugh or some nutcase on the internet. I'm just going to pick one point rather than wade through all that rubbish. People clearly do support a seventy percent tax rate. That's what the poll tells us! If it wasn't explained to them that the seventy percent rate only kicks in on any income they earn over ten million a year then those numbers would be much higher too. But that's how it works mate. You'll never have to worry about paying seventy percent because you don't earn enough to qualify. As it is lots of top earners (not the very top earners) in New York currently pay a combined rate of federal and state taxes of 55-60 percent. It's not stopping them working hard now is it?
The seventy percent rate would fall on all the major earners who use various loopholes to pay a single digit rate of tax on their earned income and zero tax on their investment income. It's not crazy at all. When the greatest generation came home from WW2 right through to the 1960s, back when America was great, the top tax rate was over 90%, it hit 94 at one point. It was still 70% when Reagan took office and that was 70% on all income above 200k a year (200000 back then is like 630ish 000 today) making it a far more progressive tax rate than the one AOC is touting as it wouldn't kick in on your first ten million dollars of income.
And I'll answer the first point you made. Yes, firing the FBI director is Trump's right, but it has to be for cause to end a ten year term early. And Trump claimed on live TV the day after he did it that he fired Comey to end the Russia investigation. If you fire somebody for investigating you after you'd asked him to back off the investigation and he refuses then you've committed obstruction of justice. That's why the FBI launched their investigation that's mentioned in the article I posted! You could try actually reading the stuff I post instead of just fact free ranting. Even better read a fucking newspaper every day instead of getting your news from a bunch of grifters, con men and nutcases.
dude I didn’t listen to rush. You don’t get it. It’s his right period. Read up on any constitutional lawyer. That fact u are defending Cortez shows how stuck you are on left wing bullshit. Did u look at the numbers of her proposals. You do not understand our constitution one bit u just listen to anti trump media and take it as gospel. I can see it cause u lose it as soon as you use your own words. Comey was a complete failure in the cyber crime left which he touted as his speciality. Oddly, he was going on and on about China yet they still managed to pull of one of the greatest cyber attacks in the history of the world. They pulled of a hardware attack on equipment almost every business and government in our country used which was called the holy grail of cyber attacks. Good job FBI keep hunting Russia, bang up job. What China stole will probably never be known but we know Russia put out fake face burg messages that made everyone vote for trump. You really are an idiot. It’s almost like you are an American who does a google search and reads the first three anti trump results and thinks u proved ur case. Russia ain’t shit. China is the problem. Omg you buy this shit hook line and sinker
Kirk this is the truth like it or not it’s one of your google copy and paste arguments
Alan Dershowitz said there is no case for obstruction of justice against President Trump and if Congress were to charge him with exercising his Article II authority, we'd have a "constitutional crisis." Dershowitz said if Trump were afraid of charges he would have pardoned Flynn, which he has the power to do according to the law professor.
"Look, the president could have pardoned Flynn if he were really thinking about trying to end this investigation," he said. "He would have pardoned Flynn and then Flynn wouldn't be cooperating with the other side, and the president would have had the complete authority to do so, and Flynn never would have been indicted, never would have turned as a witness against him. So I think the fact that the president hasn't pardoned Flynn, even though he has the power to do so, is very good evidence there's no obstruction of justice going on here."
Dershowitz said Flynn talking to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was the right thing to do. He said it was stopping the lame-duck President Obama from tying the hands of incoming President Trump.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...al_crisis.html
Sorry Kirk it’s not vox but it is a a non republican. Dershowitz is not a repub darling he looks at the law. As a matter of a fact he has been ostracized by the left for following the constitution, how dare he. But u go ahead and cite vox god knows it’s not biased
If Kirkland understood our constitution he might be able to form an argument that makes sense unfortunately he only understands VOX and the political section of WSJ which is what I wipe my ass with. The financial section is good but only for stocks, mutual funds and fed meetings the rest boils down to op opeds not news. Numbers are no different than news they are manipulated
Read a newspaper you fucking ignoramus. Copy and pasting Fox News nutcases doesn't count as an argument.
There was no collusion. The whole investigation is a witch hunt:

Says somebody who gets his news from Fox News, talk radio, Alex Jones and invests in bitcoin. Have a look back at your record over the last year or so. It's not very edifying, is it? And remember what you were saying a couple of days ago about Trump not being able to be charged with obstruction of justice? See the next post.
The beginning of the end for the Trump crime family:
President Trump Directed His Attorney To Lie To Congress About The Moscow Tower Project
Trump received 10 personal updates from Michael Cohen and encouraged a planned meeting with Vladimir Putin.
President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.
Trump also supported a plan, set up by Cohen, to visit Russia during the presidential campaign, in order to personally meet President Vladimir Putin and jump-start the tower negotiations. “Make it happen,” the sources said Trump told Cohen.
And even as Trump told the public he had no business deals with Russia, the sources said Trump and his children, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., received regular, detailed updates about the real estate development from Cohen, whom they put in charge of the project.
[...]
The special counsel’s office learned about Trump’s directive for Cohen to lie to Congress through interviews with multiple witnesses from the Trump Organization and internal company emails, text messages, and a cache of other documents. Cohen then acknowledged those instructions during his interviews with that office....................

Yawn. You probably bored Lyle to death, Kirk. Why the hang up on Trump when Clinton was taking bribes left, right and middle from anyone? The entire thing is a farce regardless of 'side'.
So now they will try to impeach trump for hush money to girls who gladly accepted cash signing a non disclosure document, and for a building in Moscow that was never built.
