Hey Miles, if Mike Tyson hadn't bitten a chunk out of Holyfield's ear and there were only teethmarks on his ear instead, do you feel Tyson should be given a free pass? Because from my understanding, you're basically trying to say, no harm no foul. Am I right?

What about a fighter that intentionally tries to low blow the other fighter but hits his hip or thigh instead? Is that no harm no foul also?;D

What I am saying is that Maidana didn't land a foul on Amir Khan. We cannot deny that Tyson tried to eat Evander Holyfield, but more astonishingly he WAS given a second chance to prove his cannibalistic skills.

In terms of the low blow, how many fighters are given a second chance after commiting an ACTUAL low blow? Quite a lot by my reckoning.

Maidana attempted a foul, missed and was docked without a warning. No second chance. Cortez was again caught in the moment and acted on it. It was weak officiating and it is not as though it is a new thing.

How would Steve Smoger have responded. I bet it would have been quite different. A good warning, a message saying "don't try that again!" and on the fight goes.

No, I didn't say that. I said a strong warning would have been perfectly justified. I also agreed that if Khan had been hit then a point deduction had some justification. I also agree with you that if Khan was hit and cut in some way as to discontinue the fight, then a DQ would be acceptable.

But it was nothing and therefore we should had a fight rather than the Cortez show.

These are not particularly outrageous viewpoints to have.

Cortez would have been at fault for not getting to grips with a blatant dirty elbower when he initially attempted the vicious assault.

That's the point he attempted to and got docked a point, that's his punishment in the ring. Hell in the real world crimes with the word attempt carries severe penalty and you're going to have to pay the price or at least in the US, such as attempted murder.;)

I'd be interested to know what Miles thoughts on the Eubank Sherry 'headbutt' incident.

For the record Eubank was docked two points. I don't think the 'headbutt' did any damage whatsoever and Sherry such a slimy cunt. The fight went to a technical decision and Eubank thankfully scraped through on a split decision.

The point is, technical fouls can land you in deep shit.....

That nearly killed Dan Sherry apparently ;D

I would agree if he survived looking good by boxing away or something but Khan survived running away scared. The crowd didn't boo just because they were all pro-Amir. I can't admire someone who survived that way. No question about the scorecards. I am not arguing that Amir won it.

Khan said that his chin got tested and was successful. Not so sure about that. The only punch he got to his jaw is the only punched that was needed to damage him enough to make him run for the remainder of the fight (3 or 4 rounds).

Judges confuse me. When Oscar ran for the last 3 or 4 rounds vs Tito, he did it because he was winning convincingly so all he had to do was glide himself to a victory but no, judges somehow gave those rounds to Tito. Now we had Khan running away for dear life on the last 3 or 4 rounds and judges GAVE HIM the rounds. How does it work?:confused:

Watch Tito and DLH again. DLH did almost NOTHING in that fight for the last 3-4 rounds. It truly pissed me off. That fight changed modern boxing more than when Tyson bit off Holyfield's ear. Oscar made Judging a boxing match the hardest thing in the planet for anyone to completely understand. But, I tahnk him everyday there is a fighter who thinks he can skate his way to victory on points. F that!!

Khan actually boxed and engaged more than he needed to (as Bilbo said)

For the record Khan won the fight, just. Also Cortez did an excellent job so do not know what everyone was on about. The elbow should have had a point taken off.
