Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
I have only just watched it, I set my alarm but during the 60 minutes sleep I had a dream that I put a piece of chicken in the oven and I was really looking forward to eating it, then my alarm went off and I realised it was a dream and I got hungry and annoyed so I went back to sleep.
I enjoyed that, I thought that Garcia won it quite comfortably, no real surprises at all in there though.
Last 20 seconds were awesome

There have been no shady decisions in Texas involving Mexican or Mexican-American fighters, right?
Whew! That's a relief.
I guess it's all been a bad dream.
You seem to have a chip on your shoulder here. Home decisions generally refer to the home fighter not where the fighter is from. These decisions happen all over the world and are a plague on the sport for fighters early in there career. Its virtually impossible for a journeyman to get a decision against a prospect or a ticket seller as the promoter has the judges, and refs ear.
I was at a fight a few years ago where a novice was fighting a journeyman who lost over 100 fights. It was the prospects first fight and he sold over 100 tickets. The journeyman battered him. Had him down 5 times in first round but only one was called a KD. In the 2nd round the prospect landed one punch and threw a 3 punch combo with the journeyman against the ropes. Had his guard up and was clearly fine and the ref jumped in.
I had Garcia winning this fight 7-5

You've heard of Texas, no?
Yeah. Thats one city but had this fight happened there, the results would have been the same. My point is that in this fight the city had nothing to do with the fix.
PBC fights although I enjoy them mainly do to the undercards have a script for the headliner regardless of the city they are in for certain fighters.
I can see the favoritism for a Golden Boy or a Mayweather, but for Garcia?
We're all going to have different opinions but mine is that Garcia is not the marquee name that will skew decisions his way in a shameful manner as some other fighters have.
Herrera and Peterson fights say otherwise
I thought Garcia deserved to lose the Herrera fight.... it was an ugly, lousy effort.
The Peterson fight was closer, IMO.
This one tonight definitely cannot be considered a robbery.
Guerrero won the first half..... Garcia won the second.
I agree! Peterson tossed that fight in the trash because he thought he had it in the bag and started clowning around like a fool, plus he backed off in the late rounds. Hard way to learn a lesson, let's hope it got through to him. Remember?
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
Did Garcia get another gift?
I watched he first 3 rounds and I thought it it was at least 2-1 Guerrero
If he did get a gift that's 3 in the last 4 or 5 fight
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
Well hell..... if you watched the first 3 rounds then by all means go ahead and comment on who you thought won the fight.
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
Ended up going out to watch these, only the main event was any good and I can't say I had a problem with the decision. Realistically Guerrero couldn't have won unless it was a shutout going by the cards, but I think Garcia edged it anyways. Both guys really impressed me. It was tempting to give Guerrero some rounds just because he was going forward, but Garcia did a lot better than I expected off the back foot, I didn't see it as totally a fight of two halves at all.
Guerrero is a very good boxer, he has better skills than Herrera or Peterson and I thought he was very live in this one for that reason. His feet are nothing special, but when he has a guy in front of him and decides to box, he is clever with his hands. He doesn't really have any tells on his punches. He is also ridiculously tough, to have taken so many good punches after the wars he's already been in. I thought Garcia fought better than he had in a long time considering all that, he did seem to be thinking more and showed some new wrinkles.
Undercard fights were pretty underwhelming, Sammy Vasquez looks good but he still freezes up and doesn't move his head when he's unloading, not sure how he'll handle the top guys. Mansour seemed like he thought the fight wouldn't go more than 4 rounds, sloppy stuff from both guys and no matter how bad his jaw was injured I think he was done by the end, making it hard for Breazeale(who basically sucks) to miss him.

I was asking who won the fight, I've read some previous comments and it seems that Guerrero should have won
So just relax big dude :)
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
I'd say thats probably a little backlash from his last few fights, maybe compounded by the fact that he was made to go backwards for large portions of the fight and that isn't seen as his strength. All 3 cards being 8-4 gave me a bit of a bad taste, but that's not an outlandish score come to think. Really a good fight, both guys wanted it bad and were boxing well.
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
Sorry, but does anyone have a link to the fight. I worked last night and forgot to record it.

Knocking Khan out was a big favourite of mine, and beating Matthysse and becoming the lineal champion spring to mind. I think his performance against Matthysse was particularly good as not only were they the best 2 guys in the division, he was probably the slight underdog. the way he nullified Matthysse's power was very skilful. Gave Morales a hiding as well, although Morales was a bit long in the tooth and fighting above his best weight, it's not too shabby.

Guerrero is a tough dude, and comes to win every fight. Interesting that Floyd was there, do you think Garcia might be on his shopping list?
Re: Gacria vs Guerrero fight!
Garcia is turning into a well rounded fighter not relying on his big left hook. Donaire take note.
