I personally would love to see Floyd vs Shane.

Just saying how this fight exposed Cotto as being a bully and not a good fighter and that Ricky Hatton always said give me Cotto and I'll expose him. Don't ever remember Ricky saying that and how was Cotto exposed as being a bully and not a good fighter by Tony?
Last week on his boxing hour he called Arreola a boring fighter.
A few weeks ago he said K9 Bundrage was a bum and Jamie Moore was much more deserving of a light-middleweight world title shot.
He also licks the sweat of every british fighters bollocks. Tonight he said Maccarinelli was the danger man in the Cruiser divsion and is the man to beat.
I find it hard to listen to as this man preaches his opinions as if they'e gospel. Fucking dick head!
I think a Shane/Cotto rematch is bigger than a Margo/Cotto.. I think Shane can be outboxed though.. Williams would be a nightmare and Mayweather would use defense, counter punching and footwork to beat him..
I would love nothing more than to see Shane fight Pac and beat the ever living piss out of him..
Shane is just a special fighter who put on a virtuoso performance.. I called it it in my prefight prediction that I felt he would do something special tonite and he had the power and size to slow down Tony and make the fight go at his pace..
I like Tony alot and dont wanna jumpship, but that handwrapping thing raises an eyebrow for me.. Im not going to take it to the enth degree like a Cotto disciple but it makes me look at him differently..Quote:
I have come to enjoy Margarito this past year and he is one of my top 5 fighters. I get this nawing feeling that Shane is going to do something special tonite.
He has a 1in advantage in reach over Marg and will probably be the heavier of the 2 come the fight.. Shane looked in absolute spectacular shape, not drained, not tired looking.
Mosely can take a shot just as good as Margo and like I mentioned already, Shane seems to have this invisible armor that he wears in the ring, I just see him able to absorb margo's shots, counter with sharp- stiff punches that Slow Tony down enough for Shane to work at his own pace. I see Tony being dropped and losing a SD.
Shane has shown time and again that he does have 1 punch power as well as accumulative.. Mosely is more durable than Cotto and wont wilt, he'll stand his own just fine.
I just feel that Tony cant keep up that volume and take shots his whole career, that chins going to start showing some dents, and a guy like Mosely can certainly leave his mark
I just worry about the Flack Tony will catch if he loses:-\
How High would you guys rate Shane Mosley now that he has completly desroyted Margarito i mean that has to be the best showing in a while.
I've always been a Shane Mosley fan and if anyone don't believe me, i'll pull out a thread from over a year ago. I just didn't think he had anything left after the Ricardo Mayorga fight where he didn't look too good IMO.
But he proved me wrong and im glad i am very disappointed in Antonio Margarito. And that is a black eye for the sport but well done Shane Mosley, he looked like a young fighter again.
And i would love to see Shane Mosley fight Pacquiao, Hatton, Cotto, Williams, Mayweather, Berto, any of these fights are mouth watering.
I know your a Antonio Margarito fan but face it he got caught, even the commision stated that the corner man was indeed correct. He got caught end of i was a fan but i am no longer anymore a fan.
Thats a disgraceful act and that shows you he will do anything to win, not caring if he hurts/ruins a fighters career for the rest of there life.
As I said on Boxrec, never judge a Fighter by one Fight, plus Moseley has big balls.
Yea Berto and Mosely would be a great matchup just to see the lightning handspeed display... I think thats probably going to be the next fight for the 2 seems like the most logical..
alot will depend on mayweather and if he stays retired as well as the outcome of Hatton/Pac
I think Shane Mosley has a bit too much experience and is a bit too clever, for Andre Berto at the moment i think Andre Berto would need a few more fights.
Before he's ready but i still wouldn't mind seeing it as you said the handspeed display, would be frigging amazing and both guys aren't afraid to come forward.
The thing that worries me is that i actually underrated Shane Mosley's power at Welterweight. And he hits harder than i remembered, and if he catches Andre Berto coming in with one of those hard counter shots, i think its good night Andre Berto.
But Andre Berto also has a high output and never stops from 1-12 rounds. It would be an awesome fight but at this point i think Shane Mosley is a bit much for Andre Berto.
Is Shane Mosley now a top 10 P4P fighter ?
I mean he can tougth it. He went out there as I expected to put doubts in Margarito and did. End of the 7th He wanted to go Home.
He has been for awhile, just because the Cotto close decision people wrote him off. Thats why these lists are meaningless to me.
Its akin to the nay sayers ranking on Mosley for Hormones and substances?Deminishes both and what took place tonght!!And my suggestion friend is dont believe the hype.Pretty sure its a different world with an opposite corner standing in the dressing room,re-wraps nothing New?Broad brush to dismiss a guys past accomplishments based on a network hypeguy, come on.
I think Floyd is the guy who avoids people not Shane
I can see alot of threads on this board that are negative about Tony but non congratulating Shane on an amazing achievement
Its not often a fighter can move down in weight and win a world title. Cant believe he had the power to do that after Cintrons shots bounced off Tony .
Mosley is one of the top 5 p4p fighters now.
Yeah. Props to both fighters for taking the fight and even more respect to Shane for being the better man tonight.
He definitely deserves top 5 credit. He lost a close fight to Cotto that he was coming on strong in toward the end and has won all his fights since regardless of his performances - good or bad.
Tonight's performance was ridiculous. He fought masterfully. I would love to see him fight Cotto again, or even Berto. I think Williams doesn't belong in this division and should stay at middle or move up to lightheavy - :)
Well done to Shane Mosley he proved me and alot of other boxing fans wrong, and as i have said and i will repeat it i have been Shane Mosley fan for along time and i have the threads to prove it.
But i hadn't seen the old Shane Mosley in awhile even though he went pretty much even, with Miguel Cotto and i had the fight a draw. I didn't think Shane Mosley was anywhere near his best which is too his credit.
But boy did he bring his form back tonight, Shane Mosley seems to go through of patch, of good/bad form in the last several years. And i don't know how he keeps coming back but he does.
He fought a perfect game plan by clinching to stop Antonio Margarito attacking/coming forward. He countered beautifully by ducking/slipping and rolling with the shots.
His flicking jab was also really on form tonight as was his workrate, he upped the workrate quite alot which i didn't think he could do. And when Antonio Margarito would try and fight back.
Shane Mosley would put him in his place with lovely fast flowing combinations, which was another which that was impressive tonight. And he kept it going for a sustained amount of time not only in 1 or 2 rounds, like he did in the Ricardo Mayorga fight.
Also his power which i've also said in the other thread, suprised me tonight i knew he had very good power at Lightweight. But i didn't think he had as much power as Welterweight as i remembered.
Maybe its because i've been remembering the recent Shane Mosley recently, and forgetting about the old Shane Mosley. But overall an amazing fight from Shane Mosley he dominated Antonio Margarito from start to finish.
Finished him in good fashion and is now got back into the top 10 again, and i think he deserves a rematch with Miguel Cotto. And i think he would beat Miguel Cotto in a rematch if he's in the same form he was in tonight.
Congrats to Shane Mosley.
Mosley is the man.
I think Shane can beat Cotto if they were to rematch. The first fight was real close and Cotto barley edged it. But Shanes last two fights have ended by ko so its hard for me to bet against Shane since hes on a roll. I dont know we will just have to see how Cotto does against Jennings but as of now im rolling with SSM.
And the new king of the welterweight division Sugar Shane Mosley!!!!!!!!!!
Sugar Shane Mosley is the GRANDPA !!!
yeah man. I have to agree. Shane is the king of 147. Amazing performance. Dude was throwing some serious leather in there tonight. Veins popping out his neck and forehead and everything.
It was a brilliant showing. I actually dont think Mosley was that bad against Mayorga. I think a lot of people underestimate Mayorga, he's a tough awkward fighter. The Cotto fight was also very, very close. So Mosley hadnt slipped all that much IMO.
But he absolutely destroyed Margarito. No room for any doubts there. And it sets up a Cotto rematch brilliantly. I would much rather see that than Cotto:Margarito 2. Margarito doesnt deserve another pay day so quickly, especially if this hand wrap situation is confirmed. :-\
Of GBP's grandpas (B-Hop, Hoya, Mosley, JMM), Mosley is it... He's the best grandpa in there fighting like close to prime skills and abilities...

I didn't give Shane enough credit. I picked Shane to win in the KS sportsbook, but I wimped out in in the pred contest by picking him by SD instead of KO or UD. I thought he would win a close decision. I never envisioned Shane knocking Tony out. I wish I would have known about Tony's handwraps. Then I might have called the fight exactly.
Shane is once of my favorites and I've been defending him for ages on this board. Not too many of us gave him a chance. If anybody predicted KO for Shane, I bow down to your awesomeness. I knew Mosley was going to to give Tony problems. Let me repeat...Shane has only lost to fighters who can outjab him. I put too much stock in Tony's destruction of Cotto (little did I know Tony had illegal wraps for that one). It was that power that made me think it would be a close fight. Who was it that said Mosley was more brawler than boxer and wasn't a good counterpuncher? Taeth, care to eat some crow, along with several others. Ha Ha Ha. Go back to abusing yourself over your posters of Floyd Mayweather.
Ice, thanks for giving my man his props. We've debated the greatnesses of Mosley before. Now you know and you give credit where it's deserved. That's why I give you all respect on this forum. You're a real fan of the sport and you give credit where it's due, even if you've taken different positions at other times. Rock on, buddy
I'm so sad to hear about Tony using illegal wraps. (or his team, seriously, maybe he didn't know. I just can't believe Tony was intentionally cheating. I can believe his trainer cheated, but please, I don't want to believe that Tony is a cheater) I'm a huge Margarito fan and part of me was pulling for him to pull out a close decision. I hope that's not the reason why he beat Cotto, but we will never know. It puts a cloud over Tony's other accomplishments, and it will give people an excuse to take away from Shane's brilliant performance, perhaps the best of his career considering his age. It's a bittersweet night. I take no pleasure in seeing Tony fall. I'm just happy to see Shane succeed.

For those who say it was vintage Mosely, I say they are wrong. Mosely was better tonight than he has been in the past. He threw more and was much more aggressive until he softened Margie up (which he did unlike anyone I've ever seen.) Good job Shane!
I think this fight was more about Margarito being overrated than Mosley being that great, I think he fought the right fight, and I give him credit for that, but he won't beat Cotto, I think even though their fight was pretty close Cotto was clearly in control for most of the fight, and if it wasn't for his cut lip I think it would have been more one sided. Cotto has speed where Margarito has none, he has really punching power, and he lands his punches cleanly where Margarito could only land glancing blows. Cotto can catch Mosley because Mosley isn't the greatest defensive fighter. Once again that was how Cotto should have fought Margarito, thats how Holyfield fought Tyson.
Mosley looked just as good against Collazo, and look how his fight with Cotto turned out.
Man, that happened exactly opposite of how I predicted it. That's why I love boxing. Big ups to Sugar, he had the plan and execution of that plan. Slowmo replays were made for guys like Mosley, some of the blocks and parries he did tonight were unreal. I still have a lot of respect for Margarito, I think he needs to learn how to fight outside, that's the lesson here. I still maintain Margarito has a great chin, those shots landed that cleanly on anyone else at 147 I think it would have been over sooner.
Yes and no. You're right about his jab. I can't remember the last time I saw Mosley use his jab that effectively. It was one of the huge factors tonight. On the other hand. Shane pummeling Tony with right hands, going upstairs and downstairs, and snapping off vicious hooks is vintage Mosley. He brawled in spots (vintage Mosley) and used his feet and clinches to control distance (also vintage Mosley.)
To all those who said Cotto hits harder than Shane...how you like them apples?
