It has been confirmed. There is a news story on Arum mentioning how he's looking forward to the slanging matches between him self and King on the press tour;)
Regarding Cotto doing a ."De La Hoya" on Mayorga, like someone just mentioned, Mosley couldn't hurt Mayorga until he ran out of steam. Margarito on the other hand couldn't last as long as Ricardo did against Mosley but he could take everything Cotto threw at him without blinking.
Mayorga has actually said that Oscar is the biggest puncher he's faced.
the fight isn't confirmed it's only being mentioned as a possibility, there's a full article on ESPN.com saying Cotto is weighing his options, other candidates are Vanes, Berto, and Wolak
all that's confirmed is Mayorga is a possible option as to who he MIGHT end up facing

Re: Mayorga Vs. Cotto for March??
Any one know what this is all about?
To me it looks like hes in trouble with the sombre mood but then he starts talking about Cotto and lifting his shirt and kissing his bicep;D

Mayorga very emotional on his return to Nicaragua after 3 years and 10 months.
He boasts about having the Cotto fight signed for March in Vegas.
Wishes everyone a merry christmas.

Nice one!
Hopefully hes knuckling down and smashing sparring partners up as we speak! Carrying on the momentum from his last fight, while Cotto is struggling to hit the pads because of his surgery;)

And yet you're not a hater, right?
Dumb fuck.
Re: Mayorga Vs. Cotto for March??
We need to stop promoting a Mayorga fight. Or even giving it any consideration. Cotto has much better option to fight instead of Mayorga
1. Martinez
2. Berto
3. Vanes
4. Cintron
5. Augulo
6. Kirkland
7. Williams
8. Dzinziruk
9. Jcc Jr
10.Wolak
to name a few

This all comes down to risk/reward. A Mayorga fight will sell just because of his mouth. Remember that this is considered a tune up for a Margarito rematch in June, so that would rule out half of the names on your list. Of the less risky names presented, this is the fight that will make the most money. I certainly wouldn't consider Wolak a more viable option. I'd have zero interest in that fight. He isn't a name, and he isn't going to trouble Cotto.

I understand he risk/reward factor, but Mayorga mouth is not going to bring more fans or PPV buys(if it's PPV). The fans is going to come to see Cotto fight. Win or lose. Tune up or a real fight. Just like people came to see Pacman fight Clottey. A "boxing" fan wanted to see what the bigger Clottey was going to do. But the majority was Pacnuts. Not Clottey fans. We all know Mayorga is more talk then substance. We as boxing fans like to see fights. Not Mayorga fans. So the latest with fighters fighting because of the name factor, is bull:-X. And hopefully it will backfire on these safe fighter that want a bigger cash reward then a bigger legacy reward by taking a risk.
