Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Yeah well I reckon Spinks would be slippery for Arreola but Chris would have found him and got him pretty early on and he wouldn't be getting up.
Arreola is not a lummox like Cooney was, Chris is more than just strength.

Chris is the lummox, Cooney probably would have decapitated Arrerleo with his left hook.

Yeah I kind doubt that but each to their own.
Who did Cooney beat of relevance?
Young?
Norton?
Please!

I think Cooney beat Chris and Arreleo is not as good as you make out. He lost to Adamek. :)
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Um that fat Mexican man is who you talking about his hands are ok but he has some shit foot work. Also when he fought any one who could box he lost big time even with guy with not much power. His foot work would be his down fall against Spinks i think he could avoid him whole fight.

Spinks would actually hurt Arreola too. He was a better puncher than Adamek.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Spinks was 215 and Adamek is about 218 there weight at hw is the same pretty much. Spinks has more power and some reach over Adamek they are the same height pretty much Spinks is tad taller. If Adamek were to fight Spinks at Lhw he would get his ass kicked as bad as he did vs Dawson. At heavyweight i feel he would still most likely beat him his skill level and slickness was grade above. If a fighter of Adameks talent can out box the Fatty i pretty sure fighter who was better in every way could. Spinks was koed by Tyson in his prime big fucking deal that would happen to a lot people. Before that Spinks had never even been floored before so i think the weak chin shit doesn't stick for just one fight he got knocked out by one of the best ko artist to ever walk his way into the hw division that is kinda stupid for anyone to think that.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Right, as it happens I spent the day reviewing 2 fights, Adamek vs Arreola and Holmes vs Spinks 1.
The Spinks/Holmes was obviouisly a culturally more significant fight and the quality of which was good.
Holmes was not on his game though, he was fat and slow and over-confident that he could not be defeated by a light heavyweight. Of course Spinks had a mental edge, probably because of his mental edge from new training.
The Adamek/Arreola fight was of a much higher calibre, Arreola is a fuckin bull and far more menacing than the Holmes that fought Spinks that night.
Spinks is faster than Arreola and has a darty slick style he is completely featherfisted at HW and cannot take a big punch.
Arreola survived and beat giants with massive punch power and took some massive HW bombs. He has a concrete chin. Spinks didn't. Also Arreola is defionitely a harder puncher than Spinks.
Spinks weighed 200lbs against Holmes, not sure about Tyson fight, Adamek weighs in just shy of 220, he is about the size of Evander Holyfield and probably hits roughly as hard if not just a bit shy. Adamek has KO'd HW's, the ones he failed against were obviously supers who he could barely reach with any power.
Sorry, I can respect if you feel Spinks was better but I'm sticking by Adamek here, he is an extremely smart and skilled boxer as well. Adamek vs Arreola was a better fight, watch if you don't believe me!
In fact it was described as one of the best HW fights since Vitali vs Lennox.

Thing is with your answer is what makes you think Spinks had no power he was able knock out the big guys he made defenses against. Holmes was a hard fucker to knock out it only happen with Tyson out shit ton of fights he had so Spinks was sure as shit not going to do it. I have seen the Adamek at hw is a good contender well at least he was better then he was at lhw which was not very impressive. Alot of the guys he beat beside fatty and Chambers which are good wins the others were kinda out of prime. I mean Grant and Golata were kinda past it wouldn't you say and beside those guys no one really stick out. Not sure how good the guy Adamek lost to is but i need to look him over. I still think Chris's foot work is shit he has good hands but with movement and good timing he looks like he standing still. I fell Spinks would do fine against him i think he kinda cashed out after Tyson which is good for Spinks he is a healthy and wealthy man now and it only took him 32 fights to accomplish all he did and say good by not bad most don't know when to say its time but at least he did which is why i always liked Lewis.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Look man I'm not saying Spinks was a bad boxer, get that right, he was a good boxer, obviously, you don't get the win over a champion like Larry Holmes who has 20lbs and an inch over you if your any sort of chump!
But he wasn't a puncher! The notable heavy opponent he stopped was Cooney! What he hit like against light HW's is not how he hits against HW's.
Impressive to stop a tough bastard like that, pretty much anybody who lands repeated undefended, unanswered shots on a guy will get a stoppage unless your name is McCall, Holyfield, Puritty, Wilson, Wach or something like that.
I also seen Chris Byrd at 205 stop Jimmy Thunder, a big strong HW with a hard HW chin and a big HW punch, does that make him a puncher as well?
Look at Spinks, he did not win with a big punch, he won with movement and fast combinations in between.
Adamek was not a HW puncher either! I feel from what I observe that he can both pack a better punch and take a better punch and has enough skills (counter-punching+defense) to fight a wider range of opponents than Spinks. He looks heaps stronger than Spinks.
Face it, Larry just did not fight smart against Spinks. Larry was never a finisher against good opponents and he had no alternative answer to the swiftness of the lighter man.
Re: Wladimir plans to box for 10 more years to break Joe louis' record
Holmes beats everyone that Adamek fought. Including Vitali.
Cooney would hurt Arreola. Arreola would be ideal for Cooneys big left hooks.

Holmes would beat MOST that Adamek fought, he MIGHT beat Adamek, if it was the Holmes that showed up against Spinks I'd doubt it!
Arreola would beat Holmes.
Vitali would demolish Holmes badly.
Holmes was great but he was no more special than any other opponent.
He has a great record against shit opponents, but he failed to convincingly beat a lot of his better opponents like Witherspoon, Williams etc and failed to beat Spinks and Tyson. He even struggled gravely against Norton and got decked by Shavers! He has KO wins against Weaver and guys like that but they were not that great.
I think he could have had his run stopped much earlier than Spinks if the judges had had a different heart in several fights. You overrate Holmes a bit, just because your trying to defend Spinks!
Holmes best win was against Ray Mercer a plodder who hit hard and could take a lot of punches but otherwise not so special. Holmes fought a smart fight against Ray, not so smart against Spinks. He should have gone after Spinks.
As for Arreola/Cooney, huh! Cooney was a lumbering, one armed fighter with a questionable chin. Now how the hell is he gonna survive the vicious maniacal pace and power of bull-like Arreola?

Your talking a load of shit.
I see you bit when someone asked your age. Im thinking you are young now.
Your bullshit is going over most peoples heads as they roll their eyes which is why you arent getting many other posters replying.
Holmes went on to beat Mercer who pushed and got robbed against Lewis and McCall who knocked Lewis out. This was an old zholmes against young men. Lewis went on as a much older man to beat Vitali.
Your logic is shit.
Arreola is FUCK all in the grand scheme of things. You must like him as a fighter the way you try to big him amd Adamek up.
He lost to Stiverne who isnt going to do much. Stiverne has already been knocked out and held to a draw by journeymen.
Arreola has done all hes going to do. So has Adamek and in the history books it will show that Spinks was THE man at heavyweight and light heavyweight the lineal title holder and beat twice a top ten in history heavyweight. How many other fighters can say that?
But you carry on deluding your self that Adamek is something and by association, so is Arreola;D
