Anybody got an good tips for a yank going to Paris for the first time? I'm heading out tomorrow night and I'd like to see a few things not in the guidebooks - pubs, hole in the wall restaurants, clubs with good techno that doesnt' require you to dress like a frickin model.
I figure there has to be a few frenchy's on this forum, or at least a few brits who have spent some time there. I'll give CC's for good tips. I'll even give cc for good wisecracks :)

Took one year of french last year. Sophmore in an all freshman class, and like 10 hot ones. Great class that was 8) I say go to a place and order french fries. They fucken hate that there.
i went when i was a nipper mate. but cant really remember anythin that will be any use to you. soz bud. but i'll have a word with my bro. he went on a euro trip tour in the summer during the world cup and went all over the place.
I went there last summer, it was GREAT!!!!
Les Invilides is a MUST SEE....it's the military museum and holds the tomb of Napoleon
If you like churches, Notre Dame is the most famous but by far Saint Chapel is the most beautiful (hard to find but beautiful)

Try to learn a little french and always at least try to speak a little to the people...they aren't as bad as the US comedians and tv personalities make them out to be, but as with everywhere there are assholes there.

We blew the side of a Church up through sheer boredom on a 3rd year school trip once with some sticks of dynamite.
We were only 13 and swerved away from the teachers for half and hour,purchased loads of porn then asked for Le bangers (we chipped in all our Francs at the counter and the twat gave us a massive box of bangers the size of cucumbers ;D).
Stuffed them ALL into the cracks in the church brickwork then twisted all the fuses together and lit it.
BOOM hahahha.
My school banned French trips after that 8)
