Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=12422
“In some ways I feel good, but when I hear guys don’t want to fight me I feel bad,” Williams said last month. “How can they call themselves world champions or top contenders and be afraid to fight me?
“Guys don’t want to get in the ring with me because they know they are going to have to fight,” he said.
He really is spot on.

Yeah, he is a dangerous fight for anybody... Very high risk.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Don't worry Williams you will get shot your eventually, just keep active i hate it when fighters complain about not getting a shot but don't stay active. Its a shame Cintron ducked him though that would of gave Williams more bargaining power.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
I like Paul, but as I said in a discussion with a friend lately, he won't be a Welter forever. Running ten miles every day and starving yourself, while your at your metabolis peak would indicate that he will be climbing to 154 and perhaps beyond in the future.
So, I'd suggest for him to make Hay while the sun shines, fight as many Welters as he can and force his claim at the top guys. A rematch win over Margarito would put him in a strong position I feel.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
He really is a freak of nature and so its no surprise that big fights are tough to make. He is so awkward and would make any number of the top WW's look silly. I agree that he wont be at 147 for too long. It will get harder to make weight...might as well get the fights in at 147 while he still can. At the higher weights his advantages become significantly less pronounced.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
he'll get his shot, if he just keeps doing what he's doing..he'll get his day and it will be sweet.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
the guy is a danger to anyone at welterweight
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Tell him to get used to it.........i wouldn't want to fight him either. The risk vs reward factor is too great.

Have some rep on me mate....I 100% agree with the statement about guys complainiung but not staying active.....Their own fault...
TBH though IMO Williams is a good fighter but I really don't think anyone is scared of him....Cintron is scared of Sleeping without a night light so we will leave him out of it...but I severely doubt That Cotto is afraid of him and PBF is doing other things at the moment....
As much as I dislike PBF he has nothing to prove by fighting Williams and PBF is not afraid of Paul...
Also since he is champion I am sure Mosley rated #2 would have signed to fight him at some point in time over the last year,, Clottey would have been in there at some time...Hell Mayorga is Ranked #10...I know getting to 147 would be a hell of a job for him but I know Mayorga would sign the contract.....
Plenty of guys out there to face so I hate to be the buzz kill but
No One is Afraid to Fight You Paul Williams...Just because you can not get the fight you want right now does not mean you are being avoided
Maybe he should have tried to get his ass in the ring over the last year or so then he might have been in a better position to get these big fights....
Williams is another one of those guys who thinks he is the greatest thing to hit the sport since the cup......
He is a tough guy and dangerous opponent sure I agree but so is every name I mentioned
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Last time I checked, Williams has a fight scheduled this weekend on HBO. So obviously, people are willing to fight him.
The only person out there that I see ducking Paul Williams is Kermit Cintron, and you could make an argument against that because Cintron might think that he's a much better fighter and healthier than when he last fought Margarito, and he probably wants to avenge his loss while setting up a big $$$ unification fight with Cotto.
Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams just fought.
Floyd Mayweather and Oscar Delahoya are fighting each other.
Zab Judah and Shane Mosley are in negotiations to set up a fight with each other.
Cotto, on the other hand, has a "gimmee," fight set up with Alfonso Gomez, but who's to say that he's not gonna walk through Gomez, and then go on to set up a fight with Williams next while the Margarito/Cintron winner takes an easy fight or two to maximize their drawing power ($$$) in the meantime so that Bob Arum can make a Cotto vs. Cintron/Margarito fight even bigger than it would have been.
When you take all of the names that I previously mentioned out of the mix, then all that's left are guys like Carlos Quintana.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Williams IMO has the best shot at dethroning PBF...Huge punch output + great height/reach = big trouble for PBF.
