Last time I checked, Williams has a fight scheduled this weekend on HBO. So obviously, people are willing to fight him.

The only person out there that I see ducking Paul Williams is Kermit Cintron, and you could make an argument against that because Cintron might think that he's a much better fighter and healthier than when he last fought Margarito, and he probably wants to avenge his loss while setting up a big $$$ unification fight with Cotto.

Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams just fought.

Floyd Mayweather and Oscar Delahoya are fighting each other.

Zab Judah and Shane Mosley are in negotiations to set up a fight with each other.

Cotto, on the other hand, has a "gimmee," fight set up with Alfonso Gomez, but who's to say that he's not gonna walk through Gomez, and then go on to set up a fight with Williams next while the Margarito/Cintron winner takes an easy fight or two to maximize their drawing power ($$$) in the meantime so that Bob Arum can make a Cotto vs. Cintron/Margarito fight even bigger than it would have been.

When you take all of the names that I previously mentioned out of the mix, then all that's left are guys like Carlos Quintana.

Williams IMO has the best shot at dethroning PBF...Huge punch output + great height/reach = big trouble for PBF.

Can't agree more VD, take the fight in front of you and worry about the rest after that. Having your mind anywhere other than on the person in front of you trying to smash your skull in is asking for a slip up.

I do see him as a tough fight for anyone and have to agree, risk/reward ratio is not there. However, what does he expect? He so far has had one good win against a suspect opponent, seems like he wants his shot handed to him on a plate. This isn't the Heavies, one decent win does not make you the man to beat.

IMO Paul wont be able to stay at 147 for too long and will have to move up to 154 or possibly 160 someday in his career but if this is the case he needs to top WW now before he is gone

I wouldn't mind seeing him at 154 i would love to see Williams against Vernon Forrest.

I understand Paul's frustrations, but he should understand the game of boxing right now. Since Mayweather is spending his time retirng and unretiring against safe opponents who will bring him money, and since Cotto has earned the right to pick and choose his opponents, and since Bob Arum has Margarito and Cotto in his promotional grasp, Williams should just bide his time, not look past his opponents (like Quintana) and soon the top fighters will have no choice but to fight him. Everybody at 147 is chasing the money and right now the money fights are bigger without the name of Williams. He may have to take a fight for a small amount of money against one of the top guys (and defeat them) in order to make a bigger name for himself.

Margarito wanted an immediate rematch Williams and Goofy Goosen said NO!!! they knew they were lucky.
Williams needs to settle with Quintana first theyre 1/1 and the Quintana win by totally outboxing williams was far more impressive than the rematch win

First off i don't know how you can call 8-4, 7-4-1, 7-5, lucky he clearly won the fight but atleast those scores and he stopped Antonio Margarito's offense with his own and even though Antonio Margarito is known as a good finisher remind me who won the 12th round clearly ? thats right Paul Williams...........

And why does Paul Williams need to fight Carlos Quintana again ? thats silly he looked past Carlos Quintana and he payed the price but demolished him in half a round in the rematch so i don't see what good a trilogy would do he proved he is the better man and i don't think even Carlos Quintana himself would want a trilogy and one last thing how can you say Carlos Quintana outpointing Paul Williams by about 3 rounds is better than Paul Williams destroying Carlos Quintana in half a round ? that doesn't make sense.

Ladies and gentlemen, the definition of a Williams hater.

I guess for Williams to have even come close to having as impressive a victory over Quintana as Carlos had over him he would have had to let Quintana recover after the first knockdown and then refrain from ever knocking him down again, lose a couple rounds and win a decision by as little as 2 points on 1 judge's score card. Right. Ton of sense.

If you beat me by decision and I come back and blast you out the water in half a round your best bet is to avoid even being in the same state as me. It means you've been figured out.
    Oops

Exactly how is Quintana's victory over Williams more impressive that Williams victory in the rematch?
