I'm sure 6 pack a week wouldn't hurt.

i'd say it depends on the beer.. Michelob Ultra has real low calories..
but as far as what i drink, i normally drink hard alcohol.. it's basically liquid calories but calories you can burn off.. no carbs involved so as long as you can burn off the calories then i'd say it's the lesser of two evils..
i normally mix vodka with sugar free crystal light packets and put it in the blender with crushed ice.. it's fantastic ;D
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
Low carb beers have gotten a shitload better lately so that is an option, also girly drinks have bugger all carbs in them and they taste good. At a certain point however the alcohol is just converted directly into fat so just watch out for that if your a binge drinker.

Beer is'nt bad for boxing.
Alcohol is bad for boxing.
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
The main reason I hate drinking is because I get major hangovers last last for a couple of days cus I dont drink regulaly which means I cant preform or get 100% out of my training and that really pissed me off so I prefer to not drink.

Exactly, I've cut down but probably will have to cold turkey for some time before competing. I feel after a drinking session, my training for the next two days is just to get me back up to the level I was before, so I feel I basically lose half a week when training and drinking, 3 steps forward then 2 back.
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
I drank at 17 - 18.
Really bad idea.
Haven't drank since and won't either.
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
I don't drink although I don't mind Alcopops once in a while. I tried Vodka and Coke on holiday last week and that is fuckin disgusting :-X
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
It's also very bad for recovery, your liver is pre-occupied with getting the poison out of your system when it should be repairing your body after training.
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
Well If you drink your kidneys and liver are busy filtering alcohol from your system.
Add that to boxers training and competition. The kidney and liver are meant to filter blood clots from bruising and clots which result from impact sports. If the kidneys and liver are too busy dealing with alcohol:-\:(
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
I don't think it's what you drink, but rather how much you drink. Probably best to abstain completely while you are training.
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
I've heard beer is really fattening.
Plus, I'd imagine that over time the alcohol could effect the brain (like natural reflexes and such).
Re: so is beer really bad for boxing?
It isn't good for you.
It fucks your system up, the school gym I work out it has this "alcohol board" that has all the shitty facts about booze.
And most of them suck, i've been drinking quite a bit lately and getting a lot rounder too.
So i've stopped all the drinking, and the midnight MCD runs, lol
But basically, it is a lot of carbs your are getting, and I dunno about you but, when I get wasted, a) i drink a lot, the typical non-lite beer is about 150cal, lets say you drink 10, your at 1500 cal, thats a lot, and if you eat anythign on top of that? nachos etc.
And usually after that you don't do much, you don't usually run or burn it off is what i'm saying, so you sleep and it all turns to sugar and makes you fat!
So if you are hardcore serious, don't drink at all, if you do very little.
