Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Excluding ODLH for obvious reasons, has Pac ever been in with anyone that can hit or is as strong as Hatton?
It seems to me a lot of people (including the bookies) have Manny the clear favourite to win this. Personally I feel Hatton has the edge, mostly down to his strength advantage.
Do you think Manny has ever faced an opponent as physically strong as Hatton? JMM pushed Manny as hard as anyone but JMM isn't as strong as Hatton

Simple answer no he hasn't he also hasn't met anyone, with Ricky Hatton's body punching abilities. And Considering Manny Pacquiao was KO'ed with a body shot, i know he was weight drained a young Manny Pacquiao fans.
But i would still be interested how Manny Pacquiao takes Ricky Hatton's body punches. I remember in the 2nd JMM fight, Manny Pacquiao was badly hurt from a body shot, and JMM isn't really known as a body puncher and it was only 1 round of body punching assault.
So i would make this fight pretty even and Ricky Hatton has quick feet, so he can close the distance very well. The only problem is that Manny Pacquiao is a much improved boxer.
And his countering abilities have improved greatly so he has the skills, to pick Ricky Hatton apart from the outside. And Ricky Hatton's defence has been very leaky lately especially to left hands. And remember Ricky Hatton has struggled with Southpaws since he was an Amateur.
But it should be a very interesting bout it all depends which fighter, can make it there type of fight.
Re: Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Yes Ricky is the "strongest" opponent that Pac will have faced.
Ricky's physicality and sometimes reckless aggression will be unlike anything that Pacquaio will have faced before.
However, in opposition to the statement made by Nonito Donaire, he will not be technically the best body puncher that Pacquaio has faced. Erik Morales is.
With this fight, Hatton can win, but not with pure physicality, he must neutralise Pacquaio speed with his own movement and defence before thumping to the body.

Just call me ICB Donny ;)
As for the body punching comment i haven't watched there trilogy, in quite sometime but i don't remember Erik Morales doing much work to Manny Pacquiao's body ? i remember Erik Morales fighting a similar fight to JMM except being more aggressive.

JMM hurt pac in the 8th, while pac was trying to wipe the blood from his eye jmm caught him in the body and pac didn't see it coming. It took pacs wind away but pac recovered as soon as the blood stopped coming down on his eyes. That would happen to anybody in that situation but not all would of kept standing let alone survive.
Pacs actually lets oppenent hit him in the body sometimes, his body and chin is as solid as anyone. Can you image anybody else getting hit with all the blows eric, marco, jmm have all landed on pac? hell no, guys like hatton would of been ktfo. Hatton bigger but not stronger. he'll hug and try to be physical but dont mean he stronger, he just bigger. Compare to the three greats, hatton looks soft.

Will do Ice.
Thats why I see body punching being a problem to Pac.
Although usually forward, Pacquaio is always moving. He's rarely stationary and thats why I feel Erik never consistently landed to the body.
Hatton's going to need his fitness to be as high as the Tszyu night.

On the other hand (pardon the pun,) Hatton took shots from Kostya Tszyu.

So you're saying that Morales, Barrera and JMM hit harder than Hatton?
Re: Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Hatton may have the edge in strength and size, 'cause remember that 140 is Hatton's weight and has been forever. And also remember that although Pac looked incredibly strong at 147 against DLH, he was still several divisions north of his natural fighting weight. I still think it's nothing short of amazing how Pac went up all those weight divisions and maintained his speed, agility, and brought some power up with him.
But there's a difference between fighting drained, washed-up, all-past-his-prime DLH at 147, and fighting Hatton at his natural weight. I think this (Pac-Hatton) will be a much more competitive fight than was Pac-DLH, but I still give Pac the edge. Hatton may have the size advantage, but Pac has fought guys (JMM, MAB, Morales) with many more skills than Hatton brings to the table.

Well, yes.
Kostya is rated as perhaps the gretest Light Welter ever and was ranked by many as p4p No.1 when MAB and Erik were in their primes (before Pac fought them.)

Great points Tito!
Re: Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Hatton will be the strongest and most powerful-est opponent Pac has faced. It will be harder for Pac as his natural weight should be at lightweight and possibly below, so that he can use his size and power against the smaller fighters. Hatton will take Pac's shots and come back with stronger ones of his own. Pac will survive with his boxing speed and southpaw stance for a while but will get hurt and stopped possibly late by Hatton.
