when your friends talk about boxing.......
Do you ever feel the need to rush in with a "listen i know the sport far better than you"....
Was in a pub last night with a load of mates chatting when suddenly the subject of david haye came up to which my mate who is a very casual fan like many said...
"his fighting that klitschko fella isnt he, he`s the biggest heavyweight around at the moment"
I immidiately just had to fly in with "no he isnt the biggest heavyweight its a bloke called Nikolay Valuev who`s 7 foot 4" to which he responded.....
"nah i think youve got that wrong there mate, klitschkos the biggest"
After years of knowing this bloke and having been through thick and thin together i had the sudden urge to smash my glass over the table, stick it right into his neck and assure him i know far more about the sport than he`ll ever know and never to question me on the topic again.
Is this a result of me suffering from some sort of pent up anger resulting from a series of unfortunate mishaps in life or was i indeed right to get extremely angry????
Re: when your friends talk about boxing.......
I often feel you have no idea what you are talking about, but don't necessaily want to smash you with a glass or anything. :p
Re: when your friends talk about boxing.......
Your reaction was about right. ;D
There is nothing worse than someone who doesn't know what they are talking about trying to tell you that you are wrong about something.

Gets me exactly the same, one of my friends was saying the other day, 'Mayweather's come out of retirement' & I was goin 'he hasn't officially said anything yet' and then the cunt goes, 'Yeah he has, he said it in THE SUN'
I also get wound up at guys who get all excited about a big 24/7 fight and put facebook statuses up on it. This particularly builds up resentment for me, also when they try commenting on boxing on my statuses sayin stuff like 'Hatton's a fraud, he's shit, HE LOST'.
I'm actually wanting to glass these people just sitting here thinkin about it

The way you're mate said the Klitschko thing sounded worse tho. I can imagine if someone said that to me, I might black out for a minute & come back standing over his prone body screaming 'its's fucking Valuev!!' :p
On an barely related topic, I met the West Ham technical director, Gianluca Nani, when he came to my workplace on Monday and he was asking me as a fan how I felt the team was playing, where I thought we could improve & stuff like that. Was a really cool guy & he promised that Savio kid will be a superstar ;D
Re: when your friends talk about boxing.......
Whats worse for me is people that claim to have 'done a bit of boxing' and can handle themselves and that they know absolutely everything about the sport. Not saying they can't but am usually pretty good at telling the bullshitters from people who can actually handle themselves.
Just recently met a chap who said he knows his boxing and that RJJ was the best pound for pound fighter in the world at the moment. He was still living in 1998
Re: when your friends talk about boxing.......
OH and another one of my favourites. Young lads who have done 3 months MMA training in a gym swanning about telling all the girls that 'they are cage fighters'.
Deary me. Anyway am going off topic
This should be a 'what fucks you off about other people' topic

the fact we`ve had to sell players to survive financially all in all we`ve done alright this season.
Zola and clarke were a great appointment, ilunga was an excellent find, and for all his stick he gets di michele keeps himself busy which is all you can expect really for a free agent
back to the boxing thing though................
It does really wind me up how opinionated someone with barely any knowledge of the game can be.
remember blokes coming up to me after the ricky-floyd fight saying things like "hattons mistake was getting hit so close to the ringpost"
jesus fucking christ...............

Ummm, you should be thankful that you don't argue with him face to face, as I know the result would be much different than you think. ;) ;D
