(Floyd Mayweather Jr., said he did not want to fight in Dallas. He said he liked his chances better in Las Vegas) Didn't Sergio Mora pull something like this and the media crucified Mora?
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer pulled out of a planned trip with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and HBO Sports Ross Greenburg to Dallas to meet with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to discuss his bid to stage the super fight between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and former No.1 Floyd Mayweather Jr at the $1.2 billion state-of-the-art Dallas Stadium.
The fight for the ages which has drawn incredible worldwide interest is scheduled for March 13 after Pacquiao...

Big fights are always in Vegas, well most of them are. I don't see why it should be somewhere else tbh.

Arum does make a point about it being 10 Million Dollars richer in Texas and that is a lot of money.
I personally would love to see a fight of this magnitude in a stadium. Arum wants to make up for what happened on Sept. 28, 1976 I am sure of it. I guess if we look back to what happened back then, maybe a stadium is not such a good thing after all but who could have predicted that on the night of the fight, the police in N.Y would go on strike
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
true, but think of boxing you don't think of some astrodome in texas.:-\
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
"He also revealed that Schaefer had sent him a new draft of a contract which says "the site of the fight shall be the MGM Grand unless Golden Boy decides otherwise. Are they crazy? Even if the fight went away how would you sign that contract? Why should Golden Boy and MGM Grand be mentioned as the site."
this is laughable. it doesn't matter where this megafight gonna be held.
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
From what I heard there's no night life in Arlington where the stadium is held. Although a fight of this magnitude should be in a stadium. It would have been cool if it was in New Orleans, great night life and I would have tried to score some tickets.

of course it does!
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
It would allow true fans to get tickets if in a 100,000 seater stadium.
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
Personally, they can even make it on the moon, as long as it happens and that there is a way for fans to go over there. Hell let's make it in the Montreal Stadium, it's about 45 000 seaters, if it was good enough for Duran-Leonard, it must be ok for Pacquiao-Mayweather ;)

er whatever.
And you wouldn't be able to see anything in a 100,000 seater stadium. Everything on screen, might as well be at home.:)

You would if you had ring side seats ;D
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
What I find most interesting is that Floyd is afraid to fight out side of Vegas. Now suddenly Floyd has turned into Paulie Malignaggi with claims that he will get robbed in Texas.
Re: Schaefer and Mayweather Jr's Excuse FAILS!
Floyd should only be worried about getting knocked out nothing else.
I think the venue will make a big difference in sales and everything. As much as I hate the cowboys, I think that might be the best place for it. A packed stadium just gives electricity to a fight.
Arguello-Pryor is the first one that comes to my mind.

You would be able to see the fight great on the jumbotron screen thing they have. Plus tickets would be reasonable in 100,000 seat venue. I have heard if it is in Vegas the cheapest seats would be $500 which is just absurd. I wouldn't get a good view at the ring for that price anyway plus there screens aren't 160 foot wide
I say make this fight in Dallas or New Orleans, which is my choice. Sick of the fights being in Vegas.

The fans would benefit if it was at The Cowboys Stadium. I for one was hoping it would be there as I have full intention of going to the fight. How hard will it be for me to get tickets at the MGM when half the 16k seats are held back from the real fans? As opposed to 110k seats at Dallas?
That's why when Hatton fought at Man City you could get tickets for as little as £25, I opted for the £40 tickets and took my little cousin too. Granted the view was shit but at The Cowboys Stadium they have an 180 foot HD screen suspended above the ring.
All I know is there's less chance of me attending the actual fight if it's in Vegas. :(
