Boxing rec is your friend for this kind of thing. Tyson pretty much lost every round as far as I can recall. He provided Jeff Lacy with the perfect plan to tackle Calzaghe. Walk forward and eat punches without even moving your head. Poor old Tyson, he was pretty shot.
Agree with Miles. No mention on boxrec for some reason but it's fair to say Lennox probably won every round. Mike just couldn't get past that jab and was getting hit with every straight right Lennox threw.
Nah, im pretty sure I remember reading that Mike at least wan the first on all three cards but then hed shot his bolt really. Just fighting for the money, no real desire. Hadnt trained properly. If he had though and he could have kept up the pace?
Which is why id say hed win if both had fought in their primes and oddly enough I think if Lewis hadnt have accepted step asside money that Tyson did actually train at that point still and would have probably beaten lewis who was struggling with mercer then getting knocked out by Rahman.
He must have won the first, Lewis did back off but took over after Tyson had spent his load after 3 minutes, which shows you how much of a shadow of a fighter he was at that time.
Tyson himself has said in interviews that he didnt care about his career/had the desire since 1990,i am a Tyson fan so this will sound biased but i honestly believe that had Tyson had the desire (which is wot really matters )then he would beaten Lewis no problem, even a 2002 Tyson that wanted it... but a 2002 Tyson didnt want it so there u go,i remember the buildup 2 it and quite a few boxing insiders etc believed Tyson wld win but nobody expected the Tyson 2 turn up that did,as sed b4 Tyson himself didnt care about his career/image in boxing/wotever,it woz all abt money and hype for him at that stage, didnt care abt the glory, the ball was in his court and he clda dun so much more with it even at that stage but the point is..he just didnt care and Lewis dominated the fight and deserved the win...... albiet against a faded lucklustre 2002 Tyson
Young Tyson destroys young Lewis; mature Lewis outboxes and beats any version of Tyson, even the young, if he gets past the first three-four rounds.
That's on a good day, when Lewis is prepared, interested, careful and sharp.
If I remember correctly, Tyson won the first round and Lewis won the rest of the fight.
This was probably the only time I felt sorry for Mike Tyson.
Tyson was truly pathetic in this fight & if Lewis wasn't so unnecessarily cautious, he could have starched Tyson inside of 3 rounds, without breaking sweat.
How Tyson managed to convince so many that he had any kind of chance in that fight is beyond me.
Lewis actrually went inot the fight looking to punish Tyson for the things he said...To this day Lewis still holds a grudge for Tyson biting him....When you watch the fight again you can see Lewis held back on more then one occassion....You can also tell the second he landed that big shot in the eight he knew Tyson was done before he hit the canvas
Tyson won the first round but there after Lewis had control and won all rounds after. Tyson was shot and weighed more in this fight then in any other in his career. The punishment Tyson took that night was his red badge of courage, he could have said " no mas " and ended the night early, HE GAVE UP ON WINNING THE FIGHT BUT STAYED IN THERE AND TOOK AS MUCH AS HE COULD. I'm not old mikes biggest fan but he went out like a champion that night...you can die in there and the man went out on his stool
