Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
This was probably the only time I felt sorry for Mike Tyson.
Tyson was truly pathetic in this fight & if Lewis wasn't so unnecessarily cautious, he could have starched Tyson inside of 3 rounds, without breaking sweat.
How Tyson managed to convince so many that he had any kind of chance in that fight is beyond me.

Lewis actrually went inot the fight looking to punish Tyson for the things he said...To this day Lewis still holds a grudge for Tyson biting him....When you watch the fight again you can see Lewis held back on more then one occassion....You can also tell the second he landed that big shot in the eight he knew Tyson was done before he hit the canvas

Tyson won the first round but there after Lewis had control and won all rounds after. Tyson was shot and weighed more in this fight then in any other in his career. The punishment Tyson took that night was his red badge of courage, he could have said " no mas " and ended the night early, HE GAVE UP ON WINNING THE FIGHT BUT STAYED IN THERE AND TOOK AS MUCH AS HE COULD. I'm not old mikes biggest fan but he went out like a champion that night...you can die in there and the man went out on his stool
Think Lewis would of beat him in prime as well Tyson beat a lot of b rate fighters in his prime. Then goes to lose to fucking Douglas then crushed by Holyfeild he never beat the elite really.
i used to hate tyson in the 80s esp. when he beat up one of my favorite boxers Larry The easton Assassin Holmes. I rooted for McNeeley, seldon and all the tomato cans, right up to the 2 Holyfield fights. I even rooted for Botha. But something changed in me after that fight. I started to care about Tyson the human being. You know, feel some sympathy/compassion for him as a man, for everything he went through, and how totally unprepared he was for the stardom/finances/marriage etc. I mean really even I with a relatively stable upbringing compared to that would find it hard at age 20 to be thrust into all that. what a toxic mix for tyson. and he never really got it together until maybe this year or so. I felt horrible to see him standing tough and taking those shots from Lewis, and felt equally bad to see him lose to Williams and McBride.
Call me Mr. Empathy, go ahead.
