This was settled with the James Toney fight. Pure boxers can't hang with MMA fighters at an elite level simple. I can't believe there going to label Toney vs Shamrock an MMA fight considering there s going to be 3 minute rounds and a 30 second stand up rule. I doubt it will take a 47 year old Shamrock more than 10 seconds to tap him out though.

It's pretty simple really. They are 2 different sports. In a boxing match the boxer wins, in an MMA fight the MMA fighter wins.

Only I still believe many boxers would have a legitimate chance of landing big right off the bat, wheras there isn't one MMA fighter I would give a hope in hell of beating anybody decent in a boxing match. I do enjoy watching some MMA fights and am not meaning to criticize the sport, but the level of "striking" is still fairly shit even among the best guys out there.

I firmly believe hands are king as long as a two men remain on their feet. Imo if you put certain truly world class boxers in a kickboxing match and allowed muy thai clinches etc they would still have a solid advantage over most any MMA guys out there. Of course some boxing styles are very specific, I'd bet Pacquiao would have a way better chance to crossover in this sense than Mayweather would for example. Could be wrong though, I suppose a lot of it is just that I find boxing more aesthetically pleasing.

Pac is good at moving in and out if he gets pinned against the fence he is out of his element he'd eat some elbows and knees. Also boxers lead leg is right out there for a low kick give him a few of those and he wouldn't be able to move as quick which would work against his style.
