Protein shake advice please.......
I am going to start having protein shakes every morning. I am currently doing lots of weights and CV to both cut weight and tone up/ build some muscle. I'm not sure which protein to go for. This is the one I am thinking of buying...
Maximuscle Cyclone 1.2Kg Strawberry - Tesco.Direct
Any advice greatly received
Re: Protein shake advice please.......
I've been using this one in chocolate.
Gold Standard 100% Whey | onacademy.co.uk
Tastes delicious. Tried strawberry and bananna in the past too but neither taste as nice imo.
Best thing about chocolate is it mixes really well with porridge.
Never tried any other brand but I imagine all the major brands are good, just shop for the best price and then stick to what you like.
I'm a creature of habit so it's alway this one for me.

if it's the one I took years ago it tastes like cack.
What is the reason you are taking the shake? Is it just for the protein in which case maximuscles regular protein will be fine or are you taking it as a high protein MRP to fill you up?
Have a steak for breakfast

Much cheaper than maxi muscle. Cyclone is a good all in one but if you're still looking to drop a lot of weight I'd go with some form of diet whey (if you still have excess fat then it's pointless adding carbs into the mix. If your body needs calories to repair your muscles... Let it use some of your fat! ;))
I'm training a lad, we alternate between strength training and interval type cv and circuits. In 6 weeks he's gained 6kg of muscle and dropped 7kg of fat. aside from cleaning up his diet a touch, all he took was sci mx diet whey after our morning sessions.
If you want to stick with cyclone then I'd go with hurricane xs from myprotein instead. You pay less and get more!... Just don't mix it with 300ml of water like they say. I find 200 much nicer.
As far as protein goes, go for plain chocolate if you get it flavoured. They usually just use fat reduced cocoa powder, whilst flavours like strawberry and especially banana have heaps of flavourings and colourings in (but no actual strawverry or banana!!) no need to have them as some of them are potential carcogens.
Omni MX by scimx is good to but a bit pricier than hurricane. Cyclone is waaaaaay over priced though, especially from somewhere like tescos.

Impact Diet Whey | Myprotein.com
There you go. Quality whey protein with some good extra ingredients too.
Green Tea is good for upping your metabolism and L carnitine is an amino acid that helps your body utilise fat during activity.

Re: Protein shake advice please.......
IGF is a pretty good protein. Can be quite dear but its a very high quality whey.
Re: Protein shake advice please.......
Adam is it ok take two shakes per day?
Ive been taking one a day but I'd like to build a bit more muscle so maybe increase to 2? I don't want to increase fat though..
I have my shakes with skimmed milk.
Re: Protein shake advice please.......
Should be more than fine if you're training, depends how much protein you're getting from the rest of your diet but I really can't see 2 shakes being too many! ;)
I already eat a pretty good diet, but I find with the ammount of exercise I end up doing from instructing classes (spin/Pump FX) etc on top of my own considerable ammount of training that I need to suppliment, else I'd get ill/injured/waste away.
I was never big into suppliments but my current work load leaves me little choice. On top of my usual food at the moment I'll end up having 2 shakes everyday and usually 2 protein flap jacks inbetween meals just to try and keep the protein and calories in.
Sometimes more if it's been a rough week and I'm feeling it (I eat more off how I feel/what I'm working on, I eat a base ammount and adjust with activity)
This is on top of 4 large meals. So yeah, I think you're good! ;)

Cheers Adam I'll follow your advice and take a chance then.Just don't want my 134lb bodyweight to spiral out of control and before I know I'm 138 and having to diet again.
Re: Protein shake advice please.......
Bilbo I'm gonna assume you're being sarcastic... I lose that much taking a crap! :p
Re: Protein shake advice please.......
Was using 100% Whey twice daily for 4 months and have switched to Amplified Wheybolic extreme 60now once daily for workout, build. Good protein count but lower calories. Water weight remains a biatch!
