Was using 100% Whey twice daily for 4 months and have switched to Amplified Wheybolic extreme 60now once daily for workout, build. Good protein count but lower calories. Water weight remains a biatch!

Reading over all the comments. I would add one thing....read the labels very carefully. Some Protein mixes are high in sugar, carbs, and calories (You said you did not want to put on weight). See if the label says "Isolate protein"...some claim this is more quickly absorbed and better--I can not say if this is true or not. Also keep in mind, that protein taken like this is hard for the body to digest in some people. You may want to take a little before workout and a little afterward. Avoid taking at night before bedtime...it will add to weight gain. Our body will only absorb so much. Consider eating foods naturally high in protein also.

Hi Big H, well my advice for protein powder is very simple...if you want to add protein shakes to your diet make sure you buy a high quality ISOLATE WHEY PROTEIN...Isolate protein powder gets absorbed better than concentrate protein powder... depending on what your trying to achieve(loose weight OR gain weight) protein powders are different...but if your trying to loose some weight and put on some lean muscle I would choose a protein protein powder that has 35g protein in each scoop with low carb(maybe 1gram of carb in the scoop)... I actually add a couple more things to my protein shake...I add L Glutamine, and a spoon of Flax seed oil, and I also take an Arginine suppliment. You'll know if you have bought a CHEAP quality protein powder because the scoop size will be larger.... that is because cheaper, inferior protein powder have alot of "fillers"...and you don't need that crap in your body. Also mix your protein powder with water for best absorption, but at night time before you go to sleep mix your protein powder with skim milk to slow down the absorption so your body is fed for the 7 hours you sleep. I got to ask why anyone would take a protein shake and add glutimine?...the protein already has glutimine in it. Furthermore your body naturally produces glutimine from what you eat, and will not store any excess...so out it comes with the waste. The other two supplements flaxseed oil and such leave me wondering what their value would be. But I really caution you on taking a protein right before bedtime...a blueprint for fat storage. Take the isolatee protein 30 minutes before work out and thirty minutes afterward. It's like I tell my guys...you go into these health food stores and GNC centers, and if you take what they said you needed, you would'nt have time to eat. Isolate Protein and Creatine are about the only two supplements I would even consider. 90% of this Nitro/oxide/black atomic, untra mega, labeled stuff is just crap...caffeine and sugar loaded.....made for pennies and sold for big bucks and does nothing.

To Gray Lion, first off, all protein powder have L Glutimine in them(your right), but ask any nutritionist, there isn't enough of it added to the protein powder...if they did add the propper amount the cost on every protein powder would be TOO much!!!very expensive ingredient!!! I hope that clears it up for you!!! and yes your body produces Glutamine naturally but it doesn't produce enough if you work out 5 days a week like me!!! maybe GrayLion with your light workouts your muscle don't benifit from extra glutamine it your diet...it helps everyone else's muscles against fatigue and cramping and helps with prevent muscle tissue breakdown and increases muscle recovery time which for most boxers and athletes is IMPORTANT GrayLion!!! And to educate you on the other two supplement I mention... Flax seed oil helps your joints!!! also it gives your whole skin a nice warm glow... now GrayLion, I punch the heavy bag to try to devolpe strong knockout power, but in doing so over the years my shoulder are very sore now and I benifit from adding a spoon of flaxseed oil to my protein shake and when I'm at the beach I like my skin looking nice and shiney with a warm glow look!!!...and the other suppliment I mention was Arginine... you see, my diet consist of mostly chicken and rice and veggies, I lack beef(steak) in my diet...beef (steak) have arginine in it, so I take a suppliment instead...if your not aware arginine is a proven ingredient to build muscle, it's part of the branch chain animo acid the builds muscle and arginine is also and ingredient in every protein powder...its very safe to take... and as for as your advice you mention...yeah take the glutamine before and after your workout (definetly)take it with water for better absorption... but SKIP the creatine unless you want to have a bloated feeling and want a bubble looking physique.... also taking a protein shake before bedtime is perfect, low carb, high quality protein powder, and if you buy the timed released protein powder you can have your body fed all night long while you sleep... and your body is healing and recovering when your sleeping...it's important for your body to have the food for the recovery. I hope my info helps you :-) Cruiser

Cruiser...first off, I'm sorry you took my comments personal...I thought we were having a discussion. I hope you have learned the fundamental rule in the ring about keeping your temper.
As to my "lame workouts"...I don't recall you being at the ATC fitness gyms on the three days I work out there, and then the three days I work out as a Boxing coach and fitness instructor. I am pushing 69 and still get in the ring for body shots and sparring. I weigh 223, have all my hair, don't need glasses, and still remember where I parked my car...so I must have done something right in life. I had the advantage of knowing bare knuckle fighters and boxers back from the days when there was no supplements..just heavy meals and heavy workouts. I can bring in a doctor or neutrition expert to refute anyone who claims what you state and to tell you that most of the supplements out there have no foundation in true scientific studies...your body DOES produce what you need, if you follow a balanced diet plan. You state to take it before bed time.....I would love to meet the "expert' who advocates this.
Now if your talking steroids...that's a whole new world...and one I have avoided and encourage others not to take.
If your plan works for you fine...you are entitled to your opinion. I am entitled to mine. I just get a little anoyed at people who make personal degogatory remarks toward me and have not ever met me, or been in the ring with me.
    With regards.....Gray Lion
