Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
Big George was 45 when he won the title and the division is so low on challenges for Wlad now that I don't think it would take Lennox long to get the offer. I can't believe I am even thinking about this, but I really just don't see where any challenges to the Klits are coming from.
Don't know whether he has the will to get in shape now but he certainly sounded half interested to me last night. He actually said when they asked him if £50 million was enough that he would take his pyjamas off for that amount!
Maybe I am reading too much into it?

Against half of the top tens? Yup, he'd stand a chance. But the Ukranians and some others would make this seem like a really bad idea.
Foreman's chin was titanium. Lennox's was, ahem, not.

I do agree with this post, I think Lennox had a better chin than he has sometimes been given credit for though. Not iron but he took some good shots off Tua that would suggest he was not quite so chinny as he is sometimes regarded and that big right hand he took off Vitali, wow.

Re: Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
Please, please, PLEASE do not compare Lennox Lewis in terms of a comeback bid with the Big Fabulous Destroyer George Foreman. No way, no way. One of the ONLY reasons Foreman accomplished that was due to his, as others have said above, ROCK of GIBRALTAR chin.
CAN ANYONE ON THIS BOXING FORUM IMAGINE LENNOX LEWIS TAKING 23 UNANSWERED BOMBS FRM HOLYFIELD AND REMAIN STANDING???
Case closed. Old Lennox better stay retired.
Re: Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
In his prime he'd smash Wlad with ease.

If you think lewis' jaw was glass then you must know less about boxing than I thought.

Lewis was knocked out by two different journeymen while in his prime. I can't think of another heavyweight one might argue is great of whom that is true. Can you?

So you think Lewis' chin was like Tyson's, or Holyfield's, or Bowe's, or Foreman's, or Ali's, or Frazier's, or Quarry's, or Holmes', or Lyle's? WHICH ONE OF THOSE WAS SMOKED BY 2 BUMS IN HIS PRIME? Was Ali smoked in '71 by Frazier's left hook in the 15th round? Was Lyle smoked by a prime Foreman's scores and scores of clubbing shots? Was Frazier smoked by any single shot by Foreman? Was Bowe smoked by any of Holyfield's bombs?
Lennox Lewis would have been smoked by that Frazier left hook in the 15th round in 1971. Lennox Lewis would have been smoked by ONE of Foreman's bombs against Frazier. Lennox Lewis would have been smoked by ONE of Earnie Shavers' overhand rights that floored Holmes and he got up at 7 and almost won the round with 2 minutes left. etc....

Re: Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
It has bad idea written all over but I can understand the potential excitement linked to such comeback. As it has been mentioned, the chin issue (compared to Foreman) is quite a bit issue here and I am not sure that Lewis was living a Hopkins spartan life so to speak. It could have been "possible" and interesting up to 3-4 years ago but now it's definitely too late for that.

Agreed. Lewis was only ever floored twice in his entire career. Tyson, Ali, Foreman, Holyfield, Bowe etc have all been down more often than Lewis. I think its just something haters say cuz Tua, Rudduck, Briggs, Vitali and Tyson were all punchers who landed flush on Lennox and couldnt drop him.
I dont think Lennox will come back though. He is too smart for that.

This is Heavy Weight boxing... Anybody can be dropped. :vd: You don't do what Lewis did with a glass jaw. Please show me where I said that Lewis' chin was granite or one of the divisions best.
What? You can't? Because all I said was that it wasn't glass.
It seems that some people here only work in absolutes and need to learn what a 'middle ground' is before they get excited and type redundant crap.
Re: Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
No chance would he stand a chance. Vitali would clearly want to be first in line and he would beat down on a middle aged Lewis.
Re: Would Lennox Stand a chance if he made a comeback at 45?
He COULD have a successful one-fight comeback.
Guess against who.
Then... he could retire again.
;)

Yup, all the clowns that say other HWs would've stood up from that Rahman punch are having a laugh ;)
Also... getting caught by 2 very good shots in career as long has Lewis's at Heavyweight is no disgrace. He was never in a fight where he was outboxed or beaten down (say like Frazier against Foreman for example) Being schooled or bullied for 12 rounds would've been far more damaging to his legacy imo. This is heavyweight boxing. If you get hit flush by shots like that you are going down.
