Eubank hints that Eubank-Watson 1 was for P4P title!?
Boxing Today – Boxing News 24-7 – Q&A with former WBO 160/168 lb. king Chris Eubank
Quote:
BEST PERFORMANCE:
For skill, the original Watson-Eubank #1 match - this was pitting the very best against the very best. For six rounds against Mike McCallum, Watson landed 1,000% more leading head punches than his opponent - one of the best fighters, pound-for-pound, of his era - before ring rust set in. I had defeated boxing's most dangerous puncher in Nigel Benn with my gloves held together at stomach height, a seemingly impossible task.
For six rounds in Watson-Eubank #1, I landed 1,000% more leading head punches than my opponent, and despite being dangerously tight at the weight in a somewhat horrifying manner, still won over the 12-round duration.
For grit, for mettle and for integrity, though, the things that matter above all - the Watson II fight, by far and away, was my greatest performance. Watson's pace and strength had seemingly increased tenfold in 12 weeks - it was almost like he was an unnatural man in the rematch. My adrenalin stopped in the sixth round of the rematch because I knew I couldn't win, and that made the physical pain then beyond descript.

Grow up!
1000% only means ten times more!
If McCallum only landed 6 punches on Watson in a round and Watson landed 66, then Watson has landed 1000% more punches.
Percentage only means the same amount by percent of another amount. If Eubank landed 2 punches and Watson only one, then Eubank has landed 100% more than Watson. Or Watson has landed 50% of what Eubank has;)

Re: Eubank hints that Eubank-Watson 1 was for P4P title!?
I just had a reputation comment from "dark lord al" saying "100% is final";D:rolleyes:
I think what he means is you cant have more than 100%. Maybe not in effort because 100% is seen as the max but in, for instance business you can say if a hotdog costs you 50 pence to make, including the bun, weiner, onions and mustard (all your costs) and you sell it for £3 then you have made a 500% mark up.;)
Eubank was on about the amount of punches landed, not the amount of effort. :p

After all thes years Wwatt aka Berry, is still obsessed over Chris Eubank.
Re: Eubank hints that Eubank-Watson 1 was for P4P title!?
Eubanks is interesting to listen to but does talk nonsense at times. If Watson was beaten by Mike McCallum then how can his fight with Watson be classed as p4p best middleweight fight. McCallum would have battered Eubanks and could well have stopped him with his body shots, which was the only vulnerable part of Eubanks at that time. Chris avoided Graham, McCallum and Nunn (US fighters) so he cannot retrospectively class his fighters bigger than they really were.

McCallum would have battered Eubank but he struggled with Watson and Collins?;) He got the results but didnt have an easy time gettimg there and Eubank was like Toney against Nunn. He had the ability to turn a fight inbhis favour, especially before the second Watson fight.
As for Graham, Eubank knocked him out in sparring and what was Graham in 1990? A knockout victim in four rounds to Jackson. Even if Eubank was avoiding him, Graham gave him the perfect excuse by getting sparkod cold in 4 rounds and making himself basically a journeyman.

Mike McCallum struggled with Michael Watson ? i think your forgetting that fight, Mike McCallum won almost pretty much every round and controlled the fight from the opening bell. He also beat Steve Collins 116-112 not an easy fight, but not overly tough either.
There's reports that Herol Graham outboxed Chris Eubank in sparring, but got dropped once not knocked out. It's whoever's story you believe really.
