Martinez vs Murray will use instant replay in Argentina.
Anybody else see this on ESPN? Instant reply will be used in the April 27th match between Martinez and Murray in Argentina. Push for replay was made by WBC.
Isn't Sulaiman connected to the WBC? Who woulda' thunk it?
Dan Rafael reports a lot of good stuff!

what kinda shit are they gonna use it for?
Re: Martinez vs Murray will use instant replay in Argentina.
Instant Reply will be interesting. How will it work? At the end of every round, technicians will go into overdrive and see if anything was missed? Will the fight be stopped to examine the film?

Mostly for fouls, did a punch or head butt cause a cut, did a glove touch the canvas or not.
Here is the big one though. WHEN THE REFEREE WAS OUT OF POSITION!!!!! Was that a low blow, did his glove touch the canvas, was his mouthpiece knocked out or spit out, was he pushed or knocked down, did he trip or get knocked down.
We've all been pissed off by a missed call because the ref was out of position.
Have no idea about how it will be implemented.
It will be implemented for those things you have already mentioned. We have had instant replay for ever but its just never been used as a tool for a rule. I'm fine with it as long as its not abused or takes away from the ref. The ref should also be the only one to rule on the replay. Not some suit in a booth upstairs. I'm actually more worried about the corners crying about something after every round. Decisions have been changed in the past using instant reply. I think its a great idea for the non calls alone. I just cringe anytime Jose is involved in anything though.
Re: Martinez vs Murray will use instant replay in Argentina.
AWESOME news. I'm sure it will be far from perfect and there will be snags, but this is an absolutely necessary step for boxing to stay relevant.

This fight is on Box Nation. :)
Re: Martinez vs Murray will use instant replay in Argentina.
It is sad that decades after its been used in every other sport it has been brought to boxing and deemed revolutionary, I suppose better late than never but good god man.
Re: Martinez vs Murray will use instant replay in Argentina.
I think Replay was given the green light by Nevada and Jersey about 5,6 years ago here. But hard pressed to think of many times we've actually "watched" it play out or be used? I understand it was at the Refs discretion which kinda goes against the whole idea. They couldn't use it for iffy KDs and how many refs are ready to overrule themselves ??? Non knockdowns are the biggest reason for having it in the first place I think. Lets face it as long as there are these shit judges and shoddy Officials how confident can we be in a replay system. We need an outside entity or a 'team' review on it. Neutral party etc
A FNF fight with Anthony Thompson from a few years ago comes to mind. Thompson was winning, he caught a headbutt and ref ruled it a punch. Teddy atlas, crowd and camera people were handing ref and officials mointors and replaying it as it was clearly not a punch. Ref ignored the obvious. Even though they eventually overturned the "tko" he still lost on record...even though he was ahead on cards ???

About time boxing caught up to the present
Sure to be some issues but I think it's a move that needed to happen
