Hughie Fury v Larry Olubamiwo! Please tell me what is the fucking point?
This guy in his last 19 bouts has a record of 1-18! Please, please ,please , nobody come up with the following reasons:
1. He needed a "Stay Busy" fight - Bullshit! The fight lasted 90 seconds! He would've been better going for a 5 mile run ffs.
2. He was doing the Promoter a favour - fuck the Promoter , whoever it was! Hughie had a great win v Rudenko, you have to keep moving forward, you cannot go back after that, you have to keep the momentum!
3. The exposure will do him good - Yeah, cos Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton is a good build up for the O2 arena and Madison Square Garden!
The only reason I will accept is that he needed the money to buy some Christmas presents! Fucking joke!
Re: Hughie Fury v Larry Olubamiwo! Please tell me what is the fucking point?
I get all your points but just think from the fighters point of view. A fighter with ambition wants to just fight.
If no one wants to fight him whats he supposed to do just retire?
They are back in talks with Wilder and are also trying to persuade the IBF to allow Hughie to challenge for the IBF.
As poor as the opponent was Hughie still needs to get out and throw punches. If he had another Rudenko willing to get in there then they wouldnt need to have him fighting every other week but as it is he has to stay active or risk losing any rankings.

I don't blame the fighter one bit. But if he's a possible contender, with fights like Wilder and the IBF Strap being bandied around, then he should be arranging fights for 3 months down the line, with top drawer fighters, a good 6-8 week training camp and focussing on a particular opponent and a particular gameplan.
I don't believe there are very many fighters out there that won't fight him, I think maybe him and his team may have to sacrifice a little more to get them in the ring, whether that is Money, Location or whatever. If they believe in him, they have to back the project.
Re: Hughie Fury v Larry Olubamiwo! Please tell me what is the fucking point?
Hughie is not as talented and dynamic as Tyson. This is his level and that is why he is staying here to pad his record.

Hughie should not be allowed fight for the IBF title. He's not ranked with them and the only reason his camp want him to go that route is he beats everyone in the top 8 of their joke shop of a ranking system.

They thought they had done this for the Dusseldorf show with Firtha but a week before the fight he pulled out and they have been offering good fighters fights.
The fighter Parker just beat agreed to fight Hughie on the Bristol show a week before the Dusseldorf show but he pulled out. Mark De Mori turned down good money last year to fight Hughie.
Its unbelievable how many fighters are turning the fight down. They could offer more money but the opponent will still demand more than they are worth. They are offering in some cases better money than they would get for a none title fight than they will get anywhere else.
Maste, this is not Hughies level!! He beat Rudenko and Arias more convincingly than Browne and Pulev did. They are championship level fighters (Lucas has earned a mandatory shot but I dont think anyone really believes hes ever going to be a world champion).

fair enough, I'm not sure Firtha is the type of fight he needs, I think he/they should be looking higher, sink or swim, shit or bust.

Parker just KO'd the guy in2 minutes! If that's the way Parker wants to go fine, but it's bollocks in my book. As for De Mori, why does he want to get beat by Haye but not Hughie? Answer, more money. If they want him, offer him the right money.

do what it takes.

I agree ,it's not Hughie's level , he's much better than that. But to me, fighters they should be looking at for Hughie are the likes of Browne,Takam, Szpilika,Teper, Ruiz,Arreola, Adamek, Whyte after Joshua KO's him, Guys that he can take their ranking. If he has to travel to do it, so be it . They have to believe in him and back him, and he has to believe in himself.
Re: Hughie Fury v Larry Olubamiwo! Please tell me what is the fucking point?
I think Hughie will be able to get some better fights now that Tyson is world champ. They will finally be able to have decent shows with some good money on offer for challengers. Up to now fighters are getting beans to fight him which is why he gets poor standards of opponents. Its not worth the risk for anyone half good. At least now if you beat Hughie youll have a good chance of building a fight with Tyson.
Re: Hughie Fury v Larry Olubamiwo! Please tell me what is the fucking point?
Any one got a link to the fight?

Nothing to see. Larry just kept turning his back and ended up taking shots to the back of the ribs.

Larry used to look like a tank, he now looks like a flabby thing with tits. He was nearly 20 stone on Saturday.
Hughie turned down the Wilder fight for January. Surprised at that.

Probably to do with the amount of time left to get ready.
I take it wouldnt have been a defence? Hughies not in the WBC top 15?

Wilder should fight some decent opposition. He is beginning to look like a joke.

Just read that Hennesey told Wilders lot that all the Furys were taking time off over Christmas and if they could rearrange to mid to late February they would take it.
