Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders -- Plus Big Undercard. Sat/BN. Fact.
Not one thread this week about this fight. As usual the British BoxNation bills go totally under the radar (It's not just the might of SKY, Matchroom are in a different league to old Frank when it comes to promotion). I read there's thousands of tickets left. Anyway...
Lee-Saunders is tough to read (for me anyway). I started to lean towards Lee because of his size, power and experience. However, I've swayed back to Billy Joe because Lee might not ever lay a glove on him. And even if he does, Saunders has never been on the deck, Lee's power might be irrelevant.
In Lee's last three fights he was getting outboxed before banging himself out of trouble. No disrespect to Lee but Billy Joe may have already outboxed a better fighter than him in Eubank Jr. And Billy Joe is the superior boxer. Even though Lee has been on the deck a few times it's been against serious whackers. Saunders is not a powderpuff puncher but chinning bods isn't his game.
Bookies can't split them. Saunders on PTS at 6/4 is the bet (which guarantees Lee by KO at 2/1 for anyone that wants to earn some Christmas dosh)
General prices.
Andy Lee - EVS -- KO 2/1
Billy Joe - EVS -- PTS 6/4

Re: Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders -- Plus Big Undercard. Sat/BN. Fact.
I'm replying to myself again to add the undercard (Eric and the miserable cunts that don't like me doing it can all get fucked. Fact.).
Liam Smith-Jimmy Kelly --- Yeah, I have no idea how this is a "world" title fight but there you go.
Two of the UK's best prospects, Mitchell Smith and Liam Williams are on the bill plus Catterall, Butler, the Indian copper etc.
Re: Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders -- Plus Big Undercard. Sat/BN. Fact.
I've won two tickets, missed out on the two main fights last time. Travelled to Ireland and missed it, well surprise surprise work won't let me have it off. So I'll miss the main event , fucking typical

ive got no mates, ill be watching it at home
Re: Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders -- Plus Big Undercard. Sat/BN. Fact.
Billy Joe probably mentions Eubank all the time because no-one would know who he is without that fight. I feel sorry for those fighters with Warren/BoxNation (I don't really feel sorry for them, I couldn't give a fuck), nobody apart from boxing nerds know who they are).

I agree. I dont think its totally down to Warren though. The fighters need to take the blame themselves.
Theres no point crying about the attention that Eubank gets because he works hard to get that attention. Arrogance sells. Excitment sells. Saunders just doesnt get it. Whinng about Eubank in every interview doesnt sell himself.
No ne really cares about Lee either. Its a shame because the fight will be interesting. A good clash of styles against good fighters they just lack the right personality for people to care. Maybe Warren should have his fighters go through personality school.
The problem is you have fighters like Saunders who downplay themselves saying things like "Golovkin would knock me out and I wouldnt stand a chance". How does that sell yourself? You arent even confident in your own ability so why would a potential fan invest time and money following your career and watching your fights if you are telling them your never going to be the best anyway?
Someone like Eubank on the other hand has you curious or furious. You womder at the back of your mind can he really do it? Or you want to watch him get his head knocked off his shoulders. He makes you invest an interest.

Yes this fight is for the WBO belt , nobody believes either of these 2 are, or will be the Middleweight champion of the world.
It will be a fun fight I will be watching.

this is the thing. some (many, actually) people prefer the hype and bullshit over quality and who is the best. Others are interested in winners.
I think you have to prove yourself and become a winner first , then you can reap the rewards and hype yourself up to the max.
What I would say though is that I totally agree with the last paragraph and I've put it in bold because it was very well put! (for you!) ;D;)

Cracking matchup, but everything said about Frank's waning promotional skills is why this hasn't popped up sooner I imagine, plus the fact they've plonked it the weekend before Christmas when loads of people will be out on the town.
Tough one to call, I'm thinking Andy Lee might have the experience here. Good undercard too.

I'm never grumpy. Truthful. I understand my vernacular gives the wrong impression sometimes. :)
Re: Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders -- Plus Big Undercard. Sat/BN. Fact.
It's not as simple as "arrogance sells." The most loved British fighter of our modern era was Ricky Hatton. He never said a bad word about anyone. Currently Anthony Joshua is massive popular. He never says a bad word about anyone.
Polarising public opinion is a terrific seller (Floyd/Eubank snr were masters) but the majority of fighters are never gonna be crossover stars.
In simple terms - You don't have to be a prick to put bums on seats. It works for some, not for others.
