Are fans getting fights forced on us that we do not want to see?

There are big fights that are being touted that are clearly ridiculous and no real fan wants to see however because it is being pushed by the boxers, promoters, TV companies and Turki they are being considered.

Conor Benn v Eubanks has no merit at all. An average welterweight v failed Supermiddleweight is just daft.

Canelo v Eubank. One of the biggest p4p boxers in recent years is now handpicking his opponents is choosing an inactive, deluded and self righteous supermiddleweight.

The only reason These fights are being “forced on us” is because enough mugs show an interest in them.
Too many people are interested in hype rather than quality.
Perfect example is Jack Catterall. Under appreciated by many people (you included) . To many , he’s boring, whereas Ben Whittaker up until 2 weeks ago was the second coming of Christ.
This is the rall problem.
Too many people swallow all this bullshit rather than what they see with their own eyes.
Truthfully, we fucking deserve it.

jake paul v mike tyson. at least it puts boxing on a high profile platform & some up & coming boxers will get showcased. in saying that there are several fights on the current schedule to the end of the year that i am interested in seeing

Just saw on the Sky Sports Boxing X page, if Dubois doesn’t fight Joshua, he’s been given permission to make a defence against Fabio Wardley.

fabio is currently ranked in the top fifteen by all four major sanctioning bodies, the ibf granted daniel a voluntary, fabio is one option

Boxing has prostituted itself, at the cost of the longtime, hardcore fan... in a laughable attempt to woo the casual, social media fan. People that don't know jackshit about boxing, and only regurgitate what they saw on Instagram 5 minutes ago. People that think Jake Paul is an ATG... people that will buy any ridiculous opponent they throw in front of Ginger, but yet look the other way while Ginger shamelessly ducks the one guy real fans want him to fight.

Today's boxing is a joke, being played out at the expense of the fans. Not only are stupid fights being pushed on the public... but boxing continues with its stupid rules and its horrible problems, such as consistently crappy judging. Then you got boxing orgs sucking off cash cows like Ginger, making up belts left and right... and looking the other way when dangerous opponents clamor for an opportunity. Promoters round off this sad circus, haggling and having pissing contests over stupid shit while fans are left waiting years for fights.

No wonder MMA has sucked the air out of boxing.

there is only a small percentage of real hardcore fans that support boxing at all levels. take your jake catterall example, the thread only has twenty three replies, the tim tszyu v bakhram murtazaliev thread only got twenty four & then tim gets shat on for taking on an unbeaten champion. there are at least a dozen good quality fights between now & the end of the year but most won't get much interest & replies

Topic could send me on quite the rant ;D. But Just getting home and I want a stress-free night. Boxing has become a case of short attention span theater in gaps now. The term "build" is now turned on its head as some bad thing. By build I mean co main cards that used to be the norm monthly. Future opponents on the same night, not taking tin cans but decent opposition with the future big fight on the line if they were beat. I don't think it's as much a case of fights being forced on us that we don't want...it's the fact that newer fans and some old heads have arrived at the point where we'll settle...and excuse away...anything. We fall for it all. It's almost become like our politics. A lot of fans now want it quick, easy and tbh without putting much thought/research into it. 154 is a great recent example of this imo. 3 of the biggest talents...Crawford, Ortiz and Tszyu all went in with what were actually talented though "unknown or obscure" high level opponents in Murtazaliev, Madrimov and Bohachuk. And they all took their lumps admittedly to varying degrees. Tszyu getting the worst of it :-X. But all I heard post fight in some places including what is the mental petri dish for boxing, twitter, is how they were exposed :p. And not much of "hey wow these fookers can actually fight and what new discoveries...credit to Bud, Ortiz and Tim for facing threats". Nope. Ok of center topic a bit ;D

Fans just need to stop excusing nonsense match ups. It's not new and often the biggest names set the patterns for younger talents to follow. And they do. Tune up fights and showcases become the norm for supposed faces of the sport. You just have to stand for something as a fan. Even if it's your favorite fighter. And ffs stop overrating belts, that has tons to do with it.

Admittedly, Canelo vs 154 Charlo was a major thorn in my arse and a clear case of falling for everything. Strictly and only so apple polishers could shout "but it's undisputed vs undisputed" :cheerleader:. But the division skipping fights made for the sake of 'big' names is a major problem all over.

It's always been a pet peeve regardless of name for me. Division skipping without merit, manufactured "name" fights often wrapped around trinkets. Mikey-Spence, Canelo-Khan, Golovkin-Brook, all this Crawford-Canelo chatter...it's a long list same energy and all.

YUP

The fights people REALLY want to see, they have to let it "marinate". Floyd with his PAC fight "marinated" boxing to the max.

The marination of boxing has really fked up the fights ppl want to see

But to be fair it's not all Floyd's fault (far from it) the explosion of multi soup titles eg Super, Interim, Silver, Regular WBA Middleweight champ has not helped. Turki has shaken boxing up a bit for the good. But even Turki has not managed to get the 3 biggest draws in boxing (Inoue, Canelo and Tank) to fight on his shows

turki has done well to get some of these fights done that wouldn't have without the saudi's funding, artur v dmitry & oscar collazo v thammanoon niyomtrong are two that come to mind. not everything he's been involved with can be applauded, as some of the fights on his cards have been ones no one wanted to see
