Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...AVvACOJaU.html
"As everyone knows, that the last few times that I've been in the ring, it hasn't been that good for me," stated Mexican ring legend Erik Morales at today's press conference in Las Vegas to officially announce his November 18 rubber match with Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao. "This gives me an opportunity to reverse everything and go back to where I belong. I'm asking you to believe in me one more time to show you what I can do." Pacquiao, who was the first to ever stop Morales in their second fight, stated, "It's going to be a good fight on November 18th. Both of us are trying to give you a good fight. I'm praying no one gets hurt on the 18th." Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum commented that there is a whole staff of dependable people training Erik Morales so that he makes the 130lb weight limit for this fight. "Anybody who follows boxing and watches boxing will want to come to this fight or watch it on TV," stated the Top Rank CEO.
YESSSSS!! Come onnn Erik, that is the type of talk I want to hear. I believe in him and I think he will win,I've chnaged my mind from before, this sounds like the El terrible i know and love. Come on!

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
it'd be the best of the series but don't get your hopes up on erik cos pacquiao will come out on top of this one again. morales will be very competitive in the early rounds and will slowly fade. pacman by late round stoppage.
-
Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
If Arum is serious about all of this fitness etc,I expect EM to last the distance, especially as he started training so early. I want him to work Pac's body and please wear the 8oz gloves,he can hurt Pac with the pillows,he can hurt him with the 8 ouncers. I'm going for EM,points or late stoppage and I know that sounds ridiculous but maybe if you will something to happen so badly,it just happens!!

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
am a big fan of morales but just bigger fan of pac. i've always believed in erik just that i think manny is just better.
keep on willing, bro. ;D

Thats quite some prediction , Erik by stoppage .If he wins IMO it will be on points cuz I cant see him hurting Pac .
Im not sitting on the fence by saying it will be a draw but I think Erik will be better than last time , Pac not as good and it will cancel the other out . After 12 hard rounds each guy emerges without a victory

That's what I mean,I really hope he wins by stoppage but it will be hard. He has stopped Pac in his tracks on numerous occasions in both fights and that is with the pillows,so if he wore the 8oz,my thinking is he could hurt Pac even more.

Hey game its like weve been seperated now youve changed ya username ! :(
I kniw Erik stung Pac in the first fight cuz Pac would wave his rms in the air in a stupid attempt at bravado to show he wasnt hurt . So its not inconceivable that he might get him going again in the 3rd fight but he'l have to do it early cuz the longer it goes the more I favour Pac . Another thing to remember is that if Larios can rock Pac like he did in Manilla then Erik certainly can but that was a casual display from Pac that night . I expect him to be alot more focused and business like here .
Eriks chin is unlikely to let him down early on . Its the body shots and pace that might get to him so we'l see a coupl,e rounds off if its starting to get to Erik . Myt best bet is it will take Pac up till about round 10 to get Eriks legs wobbly and its a matter of whther Erik can survive the last 2 in order to hear the final bell .

We are still brothers man and CC,your points are very very good but I think Erik will prepare himself for the body work, and for the pace.He has to!He knows what Pac is going to do and he knos he needs to stop it. I agree,I think EM needs to hurt him big early on but I believe Erik,if he works on his conditioning,he can beat Pac. I think the break has done him good,he'll be refreshed, has time to get used to the weight and will win!(I hope!)

I duno if a break from the ring is just what he needed . He may lack sharpness from it and timing . When a fighters out of the ring they need to get rid of the ring rust but he'l have no time for that .
Whilst I agree he needed to give himself a break I think he should have taken a warm up . Instead hes fought Barrera / Raheem and Pac back to back so its hard to tell what he has left cuz we dont know how hed perform against a B level fighter . Eriks never been 1 for warm ups but he should have had 1 before this fight just to get back to winning ways , get his confidence up and keep his technique with a mark in time fight so when he does fight Pac he isnt shaking off rhe ring rust for the 1st couple rounds .
Manny in his last fight tried to box more and if he uses this approach against Erik , it gives the Mexican a better chance . Mannys better as teh all out slugger as standing off takes away his best qualities . Erik has to somehow put Manny on the back foot , use the ring but reserve his own leg strength . Hel need to keep energy levels up in the second half so dont try to take Manny early with rushes . Ration his work if need be , keep the left hand pumping out and use those feints he was renowned for in his early career to give Manny plenty to think about and keep him guessing .
I see him doing this atleast up until round 5 then Pacs corner will no doubt try a different approach . Eriks footwork and movement may begin to slow and thats when he will start getting caught with more body punches . Once Erik begins getting pushed back from flurries we will be witnessing a turning of the tide . Hel drop his arms and this is where the concentration seems to leave him . By round 8 Pac will be steeled into his work and the battlelines will be drawn . Erik wont allow himself to be dominated but will be on the back foot . In the second fight I noticed his poise changed when he was fearful of the body shots . In order to protect himself he had this crouched style and I see him using it here in the later rounds , replying to flurries but never really opening up . Pac will be darting in and out of range clsoing the gap on the scorecards with his highworkrate and pressure . I dont see any knockdowns but a competative fight where Erik answers fire with fire in the last 3 minutes . 115-115 Draw

it could hurt erik more if he breaks his hands. it has happened before.
good analysis, game. agree with everything you said except the draw part.
i also feel it's a mistake for erik to take on manny again immediately for the 3rd time. i heard it thru the grapevine that there are plans for morales to move up to 135lbs after this and fight the winner of casamayor-corrales. if he gets badly beaten again by manny it could send him into retirement.
also, erik's nutritionists has got to do a better job cos 2 weeks going into his weight program he still looks huge in the press conference for the fight yesterday. i feel he'd still be weight drain come fight night.

Who ya picking then kkisser ? The reason I picked draw is cuz I believe it will be a political decision given so both fighters retain their rep and credibility . I think Pac deserves to be a strong favourite and if I had to lean 1 way id go with him but I do predict a 12 rounder in this 1 . If Eriks going out then hes goin out fighting

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
Morales has a longer reach which helped him win EASILY on the first fight. Jab jab straight right...and so on. Whenever Pac would charge for Morales with his one-two attack Morales would just step aside like a Matador who has a bull charging him. I could hear in my mind "OOooooleeeeee". After the fight you could see both of their faces and see who dominated easily. In the second fight Morales tried to exchange punches to make the fight more exciting, FOR THE FANS.
On this fight he should fight FOR HIM, not the fans, and use his reach and height advantage just like the first fight and keep the distance for a victory.
Anything can happen and that's what we all love about boxing, eh?

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
Let me say this...a Pac win is better for boxing...but as a fan...I want Morales to win.
What can I say...I just love the heart & grit of Morales...then again...if Pac were to win (which I think he will) then you know that there is always a shot at the rematches against JMM or Barrera...& I want to see both of those.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! plus the rumors of him wanting to retire by the end of 2007????

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
I really thi nk this is gonna be another great fight! I am amped that Morales seems confident but feel that he has to much wear n' tear up to this point. I'm picking Pacquiao to stop it again late. Looking forward to this one so much. Should be fun as long as it lasts!!!

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
If Manny knocks him out again then Erik was just selling the fight GAME. But I haven't really seen Manny improve since after the first Morales fight, he's put more punches together but is still one dimensional as I don't see very much defense from him. Morales can beat him by boxing him and not slugging. But is Morales going to slug? probably? Should he slug? no

Agreed, if Morales goes toe to toe with Pacquiao he's gonna get stopped again. He's gotta come in with a game plan to box & stick to it!

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
I totally disagree with your points StARR,Manny has improved alot since the first fight! If he hadn't Erik would have beat on him again second time around. He used the jab more,he has an effective right hand, his body work was good and he almost had an in/ out boxer type movement ib the second fight. TOwards the end,he was blocking/walking through whatever Morales had so his D was not too bad either. He has DEFINITEYL improved and to call Manny 1 dimensional now would be disprespectful to the P4P number 1.

To Mayweather? And Manny aint improved Morales just traded more and payed for it and didn't have the gameplan he did in the first fight and he didn't do the same things either. You forget the fight was still close, like I said he didn't improve since the fight after the first Morales fight. I haven't seen a change in him other then the right hook and better jab(which again was the fight after th first Morales fight) and he aint improved from that and against Larios lead with the same three punches and I dont see his defense improving do you?

babes did u see Manny in the Larios fight? he pulled out some new moves hitting and moving all the way 180 degrees so when Oscar tried to counter Manny was literally behind him. ive never seen Manny bust that type of ish before.

Well, apart from the third round versus the dangerous Larios, when did Larios catch Pacquiao flush(can't believe I'm defending Manny!).He didn't because Pacman caught everything on the guard.and you already changed your statement becuase firs you said he has not improved and now you say he uses the right hook...and yes,I have him ahead a Floyd Mayweather Junior,a trilogy with the legendary, hall of famer Erik Morales is quite possibly better than any fight Floyd Mayweather has ever taken. Heck,a tune up with Larios is more dangerous than any fight since Castillo,4 years ago,and JLC was not even P4P top 20 than and most thought he won the first fight.

To Mayweather? And Manny aint improved Morales just traded more and payed for it and didn't have the gameplan he did in the first fight and he didn't do the same things either. While I was relaxing there at the Villoria thread few blocks away, you guys were having fun here; no wonder why you were all gone from there. Wait a minute, let me catch my breath coz I'm huffin' and puffin' running here. Well anywayz, congratulations to my pal the great Elllll Phenomenaaaaa!!! I can almost see you grinning ear to ear ever since that "believe in me" statement of Erik the Terriiiiiiible. That's a good start for your brand new name and I bet it must've brought some good luck to Erik as well coz he's been very upbeat these days. As I've told before don't count The Terrible out, not just yet. But for me the El Fanatico, that was kinda scary. I wish I could be as positive as brodda Kkissaaa here but I've been always little kinda anxious type so those scary words of Erik has been sending chills down my spine ever since - that's the burden of being a fan(-anatic). I'll give this fight pretty much even, and think it will all depend on who's more motivated, Erik having a little advantage here, not to mention the conditioning - that's where the big question mark lies. As a Pac-fanatic, all I can say is that if he beat Erik convincingly, I think nobody will be able to beat him, at least for the next couple of years. As for Erik...hmmmm...let me think........naw, I let El Phenomena handle that coz that's 'beyond my scope.' But anywayz, this will be a good test for both fighters.

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
LOL,cc Pacfan bro, nice analysis, you hit the nail on the head,I was jumping for joy whenErik said that.I agree too that it wil come down to conditioning and will to win and I honestly believe Erik can do it. He must be burning inside to knock Pac out/win the fight! The only thing I disagree with is Pac being unbeatable if he beats Erik,no one is..there are always new threats etc although I think he would beat up on Barrera again!!

CC back to you also, brod! So you must be looking like this :D or this ::** the last couple of days, huh.
About Pac being unbeatable, actually I meant that as a compliment for Erik coz I really think he is the toughest customer out there for the Pac. That's why I think if Pac beats him again, he'll be unbeatable for a while, at least as a super-featherweight. I just couldn't see among the present list of boxers who can match the kind of fight Morales can give to Pac. He's tall, really tough and pretty strong. I'm not yet biting into the Barrios or Valero hype, not just yet. With just around 20 fights, they're just too inexperienced to be able to match the kind of competition Erik can give. And adding to that, they haven't faced any real elite fighter, with Mosquerra being the closest they can get. They remind me of Villoria, sensational record but untested. I clearly remember another slightly hyped Mexican fighter nicknamed "the Butcher" whom Manny fought just before Barrera. Undefeated at 21 fights, Manny stopped the hype with just one shot, turning the hype into an obscurity.

Re: Erik Morales:Believe in me 1 more time.
The butcHer LMAO!!! That's the difference now though bro,a young Morales would have gone to war with Pac for the full 12 rounds no problems, now he has to be more careful...whereas Valero, although he needs mor experience, has the power to fight back!! Difference though with Viloria and Valero is alot of respected writers(mainly Doug Fischer)rate him and these guys know their shit! Bro,I saw Valero NEARLY KO someone in sparring!! No lie,he shook HARD,I've never seen that before!

Gotcha loud and clear. Boy, you were so exciiiiiiited there. I think you've just found a next Terriiiible in Valero. But take it easy pal, it's still little early, though I think he is really worth watching. I'd want him to fight Barrios or some other known tough elite fighter first and then, I think we'll know for sure if he is for real.
