I'm really excited about this movie. I think it's cool that they updated the fight to look like an actual modern day HBO telecast. Does anyone know if Lampley, Manny, and Merchant were in the movie?

Not excited about it at all and shall I tell you why...I read an interview with Stallone who said he regretted making it! What a fricking joke! I'll post the link if anyone wants it or just google it,is hould come up! >:mad
Post the link I do not want to google it.Quote:

HOLLYWOOD - Sylvester Stallone regrets signing up to make a sixth Rocky movie, and wishes he had listened to his wife's protests when he was initially offered the role.
Jennifer Flavin burst into tears when the 60-year-old revealed he would be reprising his role as boxing champ Rocky Balboa, because she was worried about the strain a rigorous training routine would have on him.
And Stallone admits she may have been right. He says, "She was absolutely right. I mean, she was just defending her husband from what actually was a totally crazy idea, but now she likes it."
Stallone was convinced to take the role because the last film was such a disappointment. He adds, "I know Rocky V disappointed a lot of people. I felt the same way about it and that was gnawing away at me every time people said to me they liked the first four but...
"When the option of Rocky VI came up I thought the time was right to do another one, just to make sure it was finished properly. That's just what life is like."
This should be direct to video!!!!
no
If Mr T came back to reprise his original role, or they picked someone who is more like a villian and looked older than 16, maybe it would make for a good story...
but they picked Tarver.
Yeah, I'm surprised that a lot of the older fighters didn't come back when Rocky came back. Rocky is a HUGE draw, once he came back, I thought that Tommy Gunn and Mr. T would have started clamoring for shots at Rocky. Hell, I'm sure Apollo Creed would have rose from the dead for a chance to make one more big piaycheck with Rocky. ;DQuote:

Any yes, Merchant and Lampley are both in the film as well. there is scene in a commercial i saw where jim asks merchant, "larry, why is this fight being called an exhibition?" Larry goes, "because it is a way of avoiding calling it an EXECUTION, jim." then it cuts to a shot of rocky comin out of the dressing room. i am a huge rocky fan and am looking forward to this movie. i am flying out to the east coast to see it with my dad opening day. and forget the shit about it being unrealistic; how many movies actually ARE realistic these days?
Now that i think about it a lot of those guys probably look like shit minus a shirt.Quote:

whens it out in the uk ?
I wud aliked to see sum1 like RJJ or Lewis rather than Tarver...
Sly Stallone would only have come up to Lewis' chest - even the gullible public would find a competitive matchup between them hard to swallow.
They should have got Tyson - he needs the money, would not dwarf Stallone (height-wise anyway) and he would have sold the film as people would have paid to watch him get a beating. ???
fuck yeah i'm lookin forward to this movie. gointo see it with my mates and everything. i hope its cheesy as fuck and has a montage and everythin. i wanna get that shiver that you get from the other movies. cant wait.
My man crush for Sly Stallone died, was burried and never resurrected after watching the Contender. It was obvious to me that the man knew nothing about boxing. He made a fool of himself in the final bout Mora/Manfredo I.
The fight was barely underway when he was already yelling rematch and fight of the year. He also said he did not know who was winning the fight going into the last round. lol. Even Stevie Wonder had Mora winning that fight easy.
Also I can not stand Antonio Tarver. Why did Sly use a real fighter? If you want to even call Tarver a real fighter. lol
Sly gave us Mr. T and that was kool. Couldn't Sly come up with a new character?
Bottom line, not interested in this movie but will watch it when it comes out on regular television in March 2007 LMAO!
YOUUUU CAN DO IT ROCKY! YOU CAN DO IT ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Beat that walking talking Mason Dixon off! Should have been more exciting if RJJ was Mason well if Rock would beat Tarver's ass off I'd love to see that.
man i heard many moons ago when tyson was in the prime of his debt that he was considered for the part of the opponent in rocky 6. that was when he was considering doin the porno with jenna jameson. it would have been much better than tarver (even though mr t's character clubber lang was based on tyson).
joe fraizer and earnie shavers were going be mr t aswell sly was sparring with shavers because he thought he would be good enough and it ended up just one punch to the body i think it was broke 3 or 2 of slys ribsQuote:

I have to say I'm looking forward to it. As a series it got progressively less realistic and more of a cheap and easy way of cashing in and making Stallone and co some big bucks. I resented that part of it and always wished they would go back to their roots and make a film like Rocky 1 again. They never did.
BUT and it's a big BUT.....in spite of my feelings about the Rocky films degenerating into cheap commericial pieces of entertainment WWF style they still move me in a way no other film can.
I don't know about you guys but no matter how much I want to criticise the Rocky films, and especially this absurd idea of a comeback at nearly 60 years of age, I still get goosebumbs all over my entire body as soon as the trailer starts :-\
I almost resent the sensations these films bring out in my body, like I shouldn't be as gullible to get all emotional over some tacky crap but I can't help it! As soon as Rocky comes on the screen and the music starts, thats it, all over body tingling!
So I decide what the hell, even if the film sucks it still gives my body a nice stimulation for a couple hours, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the tingles :P
That has nothing to do with how the movie is. Stallone regrets making it because of the strain it took on his body to trainQuote:

After a virtual boxing match declares Rocky Balboa the victor over current champion Mason "The Line" Dixon, the legendary fighter's passion and spirit are reignited. But when his desire to fight in small, regional competitions is trumped by promoters calling for a rematch of the cyber-fight, Balboa must weigh the mental and physical risks of a high profile exhibition match against his need to be in the ring.
I disagree with the idea Rocky 5 sucked. I thought it showed the truthful side of boxing like the very first movie did. In the first Rocky, it showed that long shots have a chance and the movie was based on the Ali-Wepner fight. Wepner was not a real contender but a journeyman that Ali gave a chance to fight for the title. In number 5 Rocky showed that many champions end up just as broke as before, due to screwing up their finances. I have also heard of fighters getting into it with their trainers and the trainers winning. (I saw it in the golden gloves when I was an amateur boxer in 1983)Quote:

its bad enough u get MC HAMMER to do the theme song for a movie, but even worse hiring a fake MC HAMMER :lickish:
Dude Rocky III came out in like 1982 before anyone knew who tyson was. Clubber Lang was based on Ernie Shavers, a huge powerpuncher from that time who actually was supposed to play Clubber (the part had been written essentially FOR Shavers) had he not gotten so aggressive during prefight "sparring" with Stallone and busted the Italian Stallions ribs up. After that SLy decided to get an actor instead who knew a little bit about fighting, hence Mr. T. But yeah, if i was given a chance to do a porno with Jenna J or get my ass beat on film by an aging geriatric Rocky, it would sound like bawwwn-chicka-wahhhhwwwahhhhhh-bom-ba-bom ba- bawwwn-chicka wowww-woww-wahwahwahhhh (my best text impression of porno music, sad i know). But yeah. Tyson was never a basis for Lang's character, but he would have made a really cool Rocky VI opponent. They should have used him and then dubbed Darth Vader or Samuel L's voice in for Mike's lispy oompa loompa voice. That woulda been tight.Quote:

I liked Rocky one and Rocky 3.. All the others were ridiculous The Clubber Laing fight was idiotic as well since Rocky learns to stick and move by Apollo Creed because Clubber punches too hard, yet then he fights Drago who probably would punch harder than Clubber, yet he goes right at him in the fight.. Just alot of nonsense to Rocky movies. Of coarse it is just a movie since a guy like Rocky Balboa would not have won the title and defended it after having been a club fighter..
