British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Good Evening Fight Fans (imagine i'm typing in the voice of Michael Buffer)
First off, the reason it is the SRBR, and not the DRBR is that I've dropped the booze in order to try and drop the beer gut, so it's a Sober Round-by-round, but that almost negates the possibility of me passing out on the keyboard....

Oops....anyhow, here are tonight's combatants clashing for the BBBofC Heavyweight title:
Champion, Scott Gammer 17-0-1 (9 KOs): Scott Gammer weighed in at a career high 17 stone (238 lbs) for this bout yesterday, obviously expecting to face a 20 stone plus Danny Williams, but will actually be holding an 8 pound advantage over the challenger. Williams will be the first world-recognised name that Gammer will have faced, having claimed the vacant British title by beating Mark Krence last June in a 9th round stoppage. His only fight since then was a 12 round points decision over former bare-knuckle fighter Micky Steeds where he displayed the stamina to keep punching throughout 12 rounds, although he did only trouble the Londoner a couple of times in the bout. Gammer's strength is a strong jab which he uses to set up the other shots, which he will use to try and keep Williams off while he throws the big shots from distance.
Willhill odds of victory: 6/5 decimal 2.20
Challenger: Danny Williams 36-6 (29 KOs): Williams is the more recognisable face in this bout, but at 33 is 3 years older than the champ. Surprisingly, Williams has weighed in 39 pounds lighter than his last appearance, and the question remains if this will open up his stamina and let him use his skills to the full, or whether he will have lost his power, and what stamina he had by losing the weight so quickly. Like no other fighter in British boxing at the moment, Williams is truly an enigma. Motivation seems to be a big issue for him, so losing the weight may be a good sign, but whether it is the fighter that put British boxing back on the map with a barrel full of guts against Vitali Klitschko, after beating Mike Tyson that turns up, or the man who suffered a humiliating defeat to Audley Harrison last time out, it certainly promises to be interesting.
Willhill odds of victory: 8/13 decimal 1.61
Draw: 16/1 decimal 17.00
Start time is at 10pm UK time, 5pm Eastern US

Have just had a quick read of that article and you need to follow the link to the 101 knockouts site and register before the fight takes place, and it is only available outside of the UK i think. Hopefully they've got plenty of bandwidth and its a good stream for you, cause I'm looking forward to this fight.

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
OK, eyes down look in folks, it's time for the big fight night with your live SRBR here on saddos. They're going through the previews now, so it's time to drain the bladder, fill the glass with your beverage of choice. (Blue bear, a cheaper version of Red Bull for me). Looking at the interviews, Danny looks a little leaner in the face than he usually does. Gammer however, looking a little rounder in the face out of the two...so is he healthier and stronger, or just a little too big?
Should be on in a few minutes, so get ready for some big fight action for the British Heavyweight Title!

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Either Danny has got a big sweat on coming in to the ring, or he's just got out of the shower. He does look trim though, but even here I'm still at a loss to see which Danny will show up. A few boos, but not a terrible reception.
The crowd does erupt for Scott Gammer though, coming in to MC Hammer's 'Can't Touch This', looks really focussed, and I have no idea what to expect now that Danny Williams has lost all that weight.

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Nice reception for the Welsh national anthem....telling Danny Williams, 'You're in my house now', as if he didn't already know. Danny's all in his own head at the moment, pacing about a bit, raring to go.
Scott's got his snarl on his face, looking mid way between mean and constipated. Let's go.
Round 1:
Danny opens quickly with hooks upstairs, and down to the body. Hook from Gammer gets through, and a nice jab. Danny with lots of body movement, but a cagey start. Left hook from Gammer and Danny clinches on the ropes. Good firm jab from Gammer, but a counter hook from Williams narrowly misses. Two good hooks from Gammer, and he steps forward now, with Danny backing off a little. Trading jabs, and Danny with a good jab sees Gammer with a small cut on the nose. Good hook from Williams at the bell.
Tight so far, drawn round for me.
10-10

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 2:
Good left hook from Williams, and a jab. Gammer comes back with a hook, fast combo upstairs then two hooks to the body having Danny covering up. Gammer coming forward with hooks to the body, and a nice left upstairs. Danny shaken. Hooks to the body again, but Danny comes back with a reasonable hook. Gammer far outworking Williams, and another left hook to the body followed by a quick on upstairs. Williams looking slower, anda right haymaker misses by a distance. Gammer strong with hooks again, and Danny has learnt to keep his guard up. Straight right and two uppercuts up the middle for Scott.
All action from Gammer, and although his nose is still bleeding, he's ahead on that one by a fair click.
20-19 Gammer

Nice one super heavy cc!!

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 3:
Williams comes out quickly again, but Gammer starts to tee off with hooks upstairs, before switching to the body. Slow jab from Williams, and Gammer goes to the body. Three good body shots from Williams. Good straight right from Williams, but Gammer coming back with more shots. Good jab, straight, jab combo from Gammer. A double jab from Gammer. Big right from Danny finds glaves, and Gammer comes back with a volume of shots. Hook, straight right from Gammer.
Williams with a few big shots, but Gammer has the greater workrate and accuracy for me.
30-28 Gammer

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 4:
Gammer's promoter and manager Paul Boyce is prowling the canvas. Williams with a good left uppercut on the chin, but Gammer comes back with two jabs, and a strong right. They are starting to trade now, each throwing hooks. Jab from Gammer still has the greater zio. Two left hooks shake Danny's head, and Gammer switches to the body with five unanswered hooks. Williams with no movement, and walks onto 3 snappy short punches to the body. Jab followed by a hook to the body from Williams. More jabs from Williams, and he walks forward. Gammer connects with jabs and hooks and he's still outworking him on the bell.
40-37 to Gammer, but Williams is definitely still in there.
-
Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 5:
3 body hooks from Williams, he's coming forward strongly now, with some hooks to the body, they tangle on the rops, and Gammer shoves him off. Looks like Gammer has sopme bruising on his left eye. Williams slows again. Hook from Gammer, Williams retors with the jab. This round is much slower, perhaps Gammer was shaken. Body shot from Gammer, and another hook and a jab from the WElshman. Williams comes in with body shots, and a big hook narrowly misses. Body shot from Williams, and a hook. Body shot from Williams,
Williams' round, 49-47 to Gammer

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 6:
Two jabs from Gammer, and catches williams on the way in with a hook. Williams jabbing, and a big right skims Gammer's jaw, he's getting closer. Gppd left from Gammer, but Williams continues to use the jab, and now he's doing the work. Straight right from Williams. Counter hook gets Williams in the chest, but the pace has slowed right down now, Gammer nodoing too much. Williams finds glaves with a few shots.
Another Williams round, and it's a pick em fight half way through.
58-57 Gammer

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Gammer nearly went then....
Come on Gammer :-\

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 7:
Williams starts the stronger again. Jabs from Williams, and Gammer needs to work harder. Some good jabs and hooks from Gammer, needs to do more of that. Williams throwing the jabs. Good hooks from Gammer, but Williams is unfazed, and his hands are down again. Danny finding gloves with the hooks, Good hook and body shot and Williams ducks down to get out of the way. Left hook from Gammer and his momentum has returned. Williams with a strong jab, and an uppercut. Body shots from Williams, and Gammer is troubled at the bell.
Tied, Gammer for workrate but Williams with power.
68-67 Gammer

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 8:
Williams with some pawing jabs. Gammer with hooks to the body and upstairs. Three hooks from Gammer. A pair of jabs, and body hsots, Williams not doing much. Two good uppercuts from Gammer. Williams seems unfazed though. Hooks from Gammer, and it looks as the momentum shifts again. Gentle hook from Williams, and Gammer catches him plodding forward with two short shots upstairs. Clinch. Uppercut and hook upstairs from Gammer. Williams with another hook, and a jab. Williams with tow body shots. Gammer finishes strongly with hooks and jabs unanswered.
Gammer's round by a distance.
78-76 Gammer but Nicky Piper on Sky has Williams ahead by a round.

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Round 9:
Williams starts quickly with body shots, but Gammer wth combos of hooks and jabs. Right hook in the clinch from Williams. Williams with hooks and uppercuts, and Gammer covering up on the ropes. Huge right puts Gammer down. Gammer gets to his feet but the ref waves it off. That was a great finish from Williams, must've been 20 unanswered punches from Williams.
-
Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
guess that would be Danny then...
Kinda feel sorry gor Gammer and the welsh crowed :-\
-
Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Superb finish from Gammer, oops, Williams and it shows what he can do when he's motivated. I sure didn't see that round coming from Danny, he was looking a little slow in round 8, but the huge right that finished it was something special!
Danny showed that when it came down to it, he lost the weight and the baggage without losing the power, and I no doubt Frank Warren will be encouraging him to push for a fight with the winner of Sprott and Skelton. And so the loop goes on.

Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Good work mate. What was the official time?
-
Re: British Heavyweight Title - Scott Gammer v Danny Williams SRBR
Danny Williams said:
It was a very satisfying victory in that I proved everybody wrong. My performance wasn't that great so I'll go home and analyse the tape and see if there's anything left from Danny Williams. If not then 'll go, and what a way that will be to go out.
He looked tired and I was glad to stop him. I trained myself, and Joe Dunbar gave me a programme to work with.
Danny confirmed that he might retire after winning the title?!?! bizarre announcement, bbut sums up Danny Williams, to quote one of the Batman movies, "he's an enigma wrapped in a question tied in a puzzle" or something like that. It just occurred to me, but was Danny playing rope-a-dope in round 8?
