Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Well it looks like this fight will be made im Pavlik fan and i think there is much better fights to be made like Taylor rematch or Abraham or moving up to Supermiddleweight im little bit disappointed because there are many other fights to be made that are alot more interesting than this fight.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
I'd be happy. Dunno if Duddy would be tho........ May well get KTFO early.

Pavlik by early KO for sure.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
I think it's a great matchup!
Not every fight need be a career defining fight, give him a chance to shine in his new role as champ and then bring on some tougher opposition.
Duddy's fans are fanatical if this takes place at the Garden the atmosphere will be electric.
And who doesn't enjoy a John Duddy fight?
I'd love to see this.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
This isnt likely to happen yet, I dont think Duddy has proven he's worthy of this fight yet. He needs a few more steps up in opposition. Dont get me wrong I'm still pulling for Duddy if this goes through. The promoters are probably drooling all over the possible numbers this would generate, at MSG no less,it would be a Duddy crowd.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Most champions take a sure thing for their first defense, and Duddy will generate a lot of more money than most sure things. And although I'd expect Duddy to lose by knockout, I think he'd make it exciting while it lasted. Like Bilbo said, the atmosphere in the Garden would be incredible for that fight.

Excitement wise i agree but Duddy is well out of his depth imo and will be KO early.

It will most likely be like an Arturo Gatti fight, but who didn't use to enjoy his prime barnburners?
Explosive whilst it lasts!
I fancy Duddy to cuase a few suprises.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
I'd be happy to watch a Pavlik - Duddy match-up, like most on here I think Duddy will probably get KO'd, but its a more intriguing match-up than Pavlik - Mora which I've read there is talk of. The fight I'm most interested to see Pavlik in, aside from a rematch with JT, is a unification bout with Abraham. Pavlik - Duddy followed by Pavlik - Abraham would be a great pair of fights.

See call me crazy but I'd love to see him in with Mora as well.
I also think Alan Green would be one hell of a matchup. Green had to have three quarters of his colon removed following the Miranda fight and had been sick for months. I personally think a fully fit Alan Green would have smoked Miranda just as good as Pavlik did.
Pavlik vs Green = one hell of a fucking good fight!

I don't think Pavlik - Mora would be a bad fight, while it lasted, but Mora is in no way ready to fight someone like Pavlik. Most people would probably like that fight because they want to see Mora get knocked out, but I'm a fan of Mora :bag: so I don't want to see it happen. A fight with Green would be good if making to weight didn't take too much out of Green; I'd love to see Pavlik KTFO Allan Green.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Green would never have smoked Miranda. Green looked TERRIBLE just 2 fights before Miranda. He only looked good against Codrington and the number 1 Daddy.

He almost had Miranda out of there as it was even with that shitty performance. ;)

He scored a flash knockdown other than that he was running the whole time and got dominated.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
There will be a Taylor-Pavlik rematch for sure..
if not, pavlik is going to smoke anyone at 160 and below, it doesnt really matter against whom... I think Duddy would be a good opponent for both.. but it might ruin duddy
I was talking about this fight earlier this year: Pavlik-Kessler fight in '08 will probably be the best fight next year...
can you imagine that fight.... man it would be awesome...
another fight is Pavlik and Andy Lee in '09 that will be an insane fight too!!! Remember pavlik is only 25 yrs. old and Lee should be around 24 by now... they are the future of the division...

I gotta disagree with you here Bilbo, he knocked an off-balance Miranda down, but in no way way he close to getting Miranda out of there. Miranda on the other hand, if he'd had another 30 seconds probably would've KO'd Green.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Pavlik has said all year he is going to stay 160 to unify all the titles..
taylor may opt out of the fight, and pavlik might fight duddy, but eventually next year pavlik is going to unify and the abraham fight is probably the only competitive fight at 160 for Pavlik...
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Duddy's just so easy to hit, and yeah I know Pavlik's defense isn't great but Duddy's is incredibly poor.
Guys like an old Yory Boy, even Freddie Cuevas have found him pretty easy to hit, Pavlik by TKO, about 5-6 rounds. A brutal one too, Sergio Mora's clearly a more difficult fight for Pavlik IMO, he's at least akward and much slicker even if he can't punch.

Flash knock down or not...he tagged his ass & really hurt Miranda.
No I do not want to see a Duddy.

He didn't really hurt Miranda it was a flash knockdown Miranda wasn't hurt at anytime the only one who was hurt was Green who almost got KO in the last round.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
I would like to see Pavlik fight Giovanni Lorenzo or Chad Dawson, those would be good fights.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Lorenzo fight would be a waste of time and Dawson fight at Lightheavyweight ?? don't see that happening.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Dawson came in 172 for his last fight, son. He can make supermiddle. If your not interested to see Lorenzo Vs. Pavlik, its because you probably havent seen much of Lorenzo.

Son ?? whatever i doubt Dawson would fight Pavlik at Supermiddleweight and Pavlik isn't going to fight Lorenzo who hasn't beaten any names which makes the fight pointless for Pavlik because he would get no credit for the win.

What a joke and when did i write off anyone ?? i said the fight would be pointless and when have i ever made out im boxing guru ?? i think you need to get off your high horse because i know plenty about boxing.

Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
First off, when I called you son, its not a derogatory term, its like mate where your from. Secondly I think if you say fighting him is a waste of time, thats writing him off. Third his record doesnt have any big names because noone wants to fight this kid. The Duddy fight other than the money doesnt prove anything more than beating Lorenzo. Mora...dont even get me started, that guy has been living off the contender for too long, when was the last time he fought? He hasnt fought anyone at all and I'm including the guys from the contender...Now he's fighting the guy David Banks beat twice, that really impresses me.....

I thought you was being funny because few people have said that to be me in the past and they mean it in a nasty way but nvm.

What i ment was the fight would be pointless because the public wouldn't want to see it Lorenzo is not a name and has not beaten any names im not dissing him in anyway i think thats what you thought i was doing but i wasn't i know Lorenzo is good fighter he had excellent amateur record im just saying he needs to beat some names then i would be more interested in the fight and so would the public but excitement wise it would be a cracker though because Lorenzo has been in some slugfest's but i think he would be stopped by Pavlik i really want Lorenzo to beat some names then the fight would be much more interesting.
As for Mora i agree he doesn't impress me at all i think Manfredo won there rematch he was floored by Archak TerMeliksetian and was taken the distance against Regan when journeyman McCrary took Regan out in 1 round i don't think much of Mora.
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Ok, CC to you I did think you were dissing Lorenzo, but now you have cleared that up...he does need some names to step up and fight him. He has been trying to call people out, Duddy included, but noone has taken the bait.

CC. I can't think of a better cash generating easy defense for Pavlik. Exciting fight. This fight would pull huge $$$ and it's pretty low risk for Pavlik. Abraham would be higher risk for less cash. I'm a big Duddy fan, and a year ago, I wasn't sure if Pavlik was much better than Duddy, but I have since learned the truth. I would rather see Duddy fight Mora. The are closer in skill and the style contrast would be interesting. Then lets the winner of Duddy/Mora fight Pavlik. That would make more sense to me, but I can't see Duddy turning down that fight if it's offered to him. He's in the top 10 and if he loses to another top 10 guy, he might not get his shot for a long time.

That should be the fight they are trying to make for Duddy, not Pavlik. Pavlik Vs. Abraham would be the best for boxing. Oh by the way Narvasces pulled out of the Duddy fight, he's being replaced by the guy Felix Sturm just beat, Noe Alcoba or something like that....
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
Pavlik/Abraham is a great fight, but Pavlik deserves a "safe" fight for his first defense. His last two fights have been spectacular, so let's give the guy a break! I still want to see him and JT go at it again, but I won't complain if Pavlik takes a quick victory lap. He's earned it!
-
Re: Would Anyone Be Happy With Pavlik Fighting John Duddy In March ??
I was wanting this fight back when Pavlik KO'd McCart. So, I am for one and pleased. Of course, I would want Duddy to win.
Just like I did Miranda and Taylor... :-\
