How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I was just curious on how much boxing everyone wqatches here....Obviously 99.9% of everyone here knows their stuff and follows the sport but I am talking in a week....
I personally watch boxing on ESPN, ESPN Classic, FSN, Versus, and SNY plus any HBO or Showtime bouts that may be on.....I don't care if the fights are old or between two nobodies if they box I watch it.....I have to say I watch a good 10hrs a week....
Anyone else?

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I watch as much as i can, altho its not easy in Australia because boxing gets such little exposure here, and many of the big overseas fights dont even get shown. I like watching old fights i've collected, and seein how prospects are doing when i can.

I wonder why?.....Is the sport of boxing just not popular there or is it that maybe there are not an over abundance of Austrailian fighters?
Not to sound stupid but what is the biggest sport there? Rugby?

Australian Rules Football is the biggest sport, and even tho i like and have played the game a lot it takes too much focus off other sports. The back ten pages of some papers are always taken up by footy. Rugby League probably second.
I think we have some good fighters from or based in oz, Green Mundine Katsidis Darchinyan Soliman Briggs, to name a few but no real standout stars. Kostya was the last real big name champ. Maybe we need a really big name to put the sport back on the map. If KAtsidis could win as a massive underdog against Diaz, or say a Billy Dib could come good it might help.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
Any that I can, at any time on t.v. It's only been the last 3 years I have really gotten back into it, as from about 98-2005 I didn't watch ANY t.v., except the occasional fight at a friends house. I had a t.v., but didn't have cable or even the regular staions working on it, and only played video games on it ;D Then when my girlfriend and I got a house together, she had to have cable and t.v and I just literally dove right back into boxing. I had forgot over the years how much I loved this sport. Kind of weird I know :-\ With all the interests I had and work, I just kind of forgot about it. ::** Now it's about the only thing I look forward to{except for my snakes and dogs ;D}

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
Man,well this will reveal the lack of social life but Im a boxing hooo..ahem...rather "groupie" haa.Since 1990 I watch and record every card I can find,Buy,trade or somehow come across. If its boxing,I dont care if it's 4 rounder walk out or the most over hyped fight around,I watch.
Tapes are a HUGE pain in the ass to lug around and Ive just started transfering everything onto DVD..(Im about 10 years behind lol).I'll grab a random tape or dvd & just put it on as background.Ive done some crazy s!!! to catch boxing. :-X Live it,Love it,Breath it,I love this great sport!!

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I watch a lot of boxing.... ESPN, HBO, SHOW, ESPNC, VS, TELEFUTURA, TELEMUNDO, GALAVISION.
During the week when we have Wednesday Night Fights on FSN, then Friday Night Fights on ESPN @ 5:30, then later @ 8:00 Solo Boxeo on Telefutura, then later on it's Showbox:Next Generation on Showtime, before I go to sleep I'll pull out a fight from my external hard drive and watch it. During the week at work for my 1 hr. lunch break I watch fights that I've burned on DVD, I have a portable DVD player. The DVD player kicks ass man, it plays any file type so as long it's on DVD disk. My girl bought it for me last year the bottom part are attachable speakers I just mount it on there hit play and start eating while I watch my boxing.
(By far one of the best gifts I've ever gotten)

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I watch as much as I possibly can. Less its total garbage..even then I'll probably watch it till the end. But if its a really old black and white fight, then NO. I will not watch those for the most part.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I havn't sat down and watched any old fights for a year or so but I keep up to date with virtually everything that happens week to week.
I guess I watch between 10 and 20 fights a week.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I'll watch anything and everything that is free and 90% of the PPV's offered to us. On rare occasions lack of sleep will cause me to conk out during a lesser program. I missed the greater part of last Versus card for this reason. I saw the opening bout but missed the Monte Barrett KO and the main event Yuri Foreman fight cause I fell asleep.
I find it very difficult to watch ESPN Classic unless it's from the black & white era and I want to gain perspective on an old timer. If I know the winner and it isn't 50 years old I get bored....

I've always wanted to check out the fights on these channels but they are not a part of my Directv package. I would have to upgrade to the $99.99 a month and I can no afford. :'(
I just kissed off MSG because they haven't shown anything decent since the Chagaev Valuev fight.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
i watch alot of the ppv and showtime, not a lot of any other fights such as espn fight night
but of course i get to watch most of them for free since other ppl pay for it.

The Fox cable network have some live Friday night Boxing promotions 'Fenech fight night'' usually with guys whose record will read 8-20-2 or something like that. Last week a guy was in his 7th pro fight without a win and you guessed it... lost again!
There are less than 200 registered boxers in Australia so it's very difficult for promoters to put on consistently good promotions. The sports channels are dominated by Australian Rules Football, Cricket, Rugby and Soccer is growing in popularity here.
I buy most of the pay for views from the states and some channels show old fights, watched Camacho v Haugen the other night!

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I watch a lot of boxing. If it's on I'm watching. I got all the regular channels that show boxing (HBO, Show, ESPN etc) and the Spanish ones as well. I also get all the PPV. I pretty much pay for all the big ones (Mayweather-Hatton, Mosley-Cotto) myself. But some of the other PPV (Vargas-Mayorga, Chavez-Sanchez and the recent Valero one) I'll get one my kids mom to pay for that shit.
-
Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
The fights I watch will depend on where I am in training.
If i'm 3-4 weeks away from a fight il watch the fights the morning after rather than stay up til 3 or 4.
Also, if i'm training I'll watch fighters that "apply to me." Guys who's style's I try to emulate and watch their moves to learn something. (I often find myself obsessively watching Hagler, Monzon, JCC and lately Whittaker.)
Otherwise I watch or rewatch a fight a day. Usually by guys like Leonard, Benitez, Arguello, Pryor, Ali, Hatton, Mayweather and Hearns.

LMAO. ;D ;D
I watch as much boxing as possible. Doesn't matter what time it is or who's fighting,I'll watch it. Also,as I have not been a fan anywhere near as long as some of you guys,I like to watch a TON of older fights/fighters,so I can see some of the legends in action myself. I like to download fights and make discs, sometimes based on certain fighters. For example,I'm going to put together all the fights I have of Roberto Duran on to disc soon. I've done that with Arguello,Finito etc.
Also, when someone mentions a name on this site, usually one of the more knowledgeable guys, and it's a name that I have not seen,I'll do some searches and find fights of that guy and watch them. Yeah,so I'll watch any boxing.
I used to find it really hard to watch fights without English commentary, when I first ecame a fan but I kind of ignore that now.Especially as most commentators talk crap. ;D ;D Plus alot of the lighter weights have fighters from different parts of the world, and their fights are just great to watch!
Nice thread Daxx my man.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I watch whatever boxing is on. I look forward to Friday Fight Night on SKY which always has good domestic and interesting matchups and now and again world title fights such as Witter v Harris on and I stay up all night if Hatton is fighting but if an event like Pavlik v Taylor or DLH v Mayeather etc get's shown from the US i watch it the following morning on Sky Sports as it does repeats during the following day so I get up early and watch that instead of staying up all night.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
i watch at least one fight a day

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I try to watch as much as I can. I watch all the freebeis on both the American and Latino channels. I collect fights and have a pretty large collection of DVD's which grows and grows. My career sets have doubled this year and some of you already seen my list of last years collection. To be honest, it's hard to keep up. There is a lot of boxing. I do however stay away from the Heavy Weight Division. I seldomly watch a heavy weight fight even if it's a big so called event. My biggest problem is that I like watching a fight more than once because everytime I watch a fight again, it's like I get a new angle or perspective and or catch something I missed previously. Not to mention I see even more when I start making videos because then I begin working with frames and slow motion and slow reverse because of the cutting and splicing involved in editing I have no choice but to work this way. Anyone who makes videos will tell you this is a little time consuming but it's fun and you get to see things missed by the naked eye because of the speed/pace of a fight. I have made a lot of videos that I have never uploaded. Some are just not suitable for Saddo. I guess a lot of them are for my own amusement but I do have friends who always ask me to share what I have made and I do from time to time send them files so they can laugh their @sses off.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I used to attend all the fights in and around QLD, AU - some in Melbourne - and watched the rest on TV when they were on. Still watch most of them when they are on TV, but don't have the time to attend fights anymore. Watch alot of KB too.
-
Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
I use to rinse YOUTUBE watching boxing like 6 hours a day but they blocked it in work :(..I am amazed they haven't blocked me off saddos yet lol...Be a sad day if that happens.
Ive logged about 6days in Saddos so far though with not many posts..concentrate on reading and waiting for some good/rare vids to be posted.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
For a while I wasn't watching as much just cause I was too busy with school and work but now I'm done with school for a while so catching up on downloaded fights.
Even when I'm busy I'll find a way to watch the ESPN, Versus, HBO, Showtime fights either live or taped.
Can't say I watch as much as I used to do though cause I've downloaded the old fights I wanted to watch and watched them a while ago, now its mainly just present day stuff.

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
Way,too much
I have to be able to explain whats happening in a fight before I show it to a boxer.
I really like watching a fight the first time, but after that its work
There will be days, when nothings on TV,well nights really, and Ill toss on a fight I dont even like, and didnt like the first time, just to see if there's something to learn from it.
ieWatching Mike Tyson break Jesse Fergusons nose two days ago

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
Onyl channels here (Ireland) that really show boxing are Sky Sports, ESPN classic, Eurosport and RTE.
Problem is RTE dont show boxing on a regular basis and a lot of the fights on eurosport are'nt worth watching. Sky Sports do friday fight night but I dont get to watch it very often(and a lot of the time I wouldnt be missing much) but I love my espn classic. Cant get enough of Bert sugar or docs on the old guys ;D

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
i reckon with youtube, downloading fights, wathcing them live and wtahcing them on dvd i probs get in about 10 hours per week. If it's a big weekend for live boxing then that probs stretches to 15-10. Time well spent if you ask me!

Re: How Much Boxing Do You Actually Watch?
