If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
Wouldn't that be one of the most impressive achievement's in modern day boxing ?? a man who started off as a Flyweight beating a Jr Welterweight that would be unreal. Where would you rate Pacquiao in the All Time P4P Rankings if he did pull it off.

Hatton is done. I don't see him beating another big name fighter again.

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
would be very hard not to put him p4p number one, especially as he would of beaten maybe Diaz and Marquez by that time. Then to add Hatton to his record at a weight WAYYYYYY above his own would be VERY impressive by any standard. I cant see it happening myself but stranger things have happened at sea!

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
I've really talked myself into a total 180 over the last day or so in terms of my feelings on this fight.. First of all, IF Pac were to win, it would be a very impressive feat no doubt... BUT, the guy as far as I know, didn't have an amatuer career, and started out in the pro's. This is really misleading when people want to talk about him having fought at flyweight and thus can't possibly move up as far as 140.. For those who didn't know, Mayweather fought at 106 pounds as well, when he was an amtuer... But I'm fairly sure he was the same age as Pac was when he fought there... Thus, it is really no more impressive than Mayweather having already beaten Hatton, side for the fact that Mayweather had much more time to settle in to the weight classs.. But still, in terms of a historical sense, should Pac beat Hatton... Mayweather has already done almost exactly the same thing... The only difference is that Mayweather established himself at the weight before beating Hatton..

I'm not going to pretend that this offends me or something... But really, can you give me one reason why Pac beating Hatton would be more impressive, overall, than Mayweather having already done so???? I already stated that they both began their careers at 106, around the same age... Sure Mayweather has moved up much further then Pac currently, but that's because he's been chasing big money fights as a pro for longer, and very much want's to be a p4p great... There's no reason Mayweather couldn't still be fighting at 130 or lightweight if he never had a desire to move up... The real difference is that Pac didn't have the amatuer career of Floyd. Thus, he never mastered the skills to beat an opponent who is naturally larger than he is along with being nearly as skilled and talented. So basically, in terms of the immediate response from fight fans, sure Pac beating Hatton would be viewed as something amazing... But in 10 years, we'll see that Mayweather already moved up from 106 to beat Hatton badly, and that Pac simply would have done the same thing after Hatton suffered the KO loss.
-
Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
But Mayweather is already climbing the p4p all time list... the thing is, Mayweather by Pacquaio's age was fighting at 140-147 while Pacquaio is still at 130 which Mayweather last fight at that weight was 24 when he fought Jesus Chavez. The difference is he went up at least at lightweight at beat Castillo who would beat any of the current lightweights at this point in their careers with ease when he was at his best during that time period. Regardless Hatton is a good if not great fighter for this generation and if Pacquaio beats him, he definitely goes up as one of the best featherweights and superfeatherweights to ever fight. Already I think he would do well with some of the best.

Oscar De La Hoya was almost 1 stone heavier than Mayweather if i remember right. So i would say that is pretty comparable.

Should he win he will be p4p No.1, but I can't see it happening as he has two p4p guys in Juan Diaz and JMM to face first.

if hatton and pac fight. I would have Hatton arrested for murder cause he would kill Manny. Dude is waaay too big for him. Hatton's walking weight is around 230

And it's only his walking weight because of how much he eats and drinks. Carlos Baldomir also walks around at about 180lbs but that is much more natural to him as his body frame accomodates that weight.
Hatton aint even a natural 180lbs. With a sensible lifestyle, Hatton would be no more than 160lbs imo....maybe even less.

If it was meant to be ironic.
The difference between Mayweather and Pac beating Hatton would be monumental.
Mayweather defeated Hatton after going unbeaten in 3 fights at 140, 3 fights at 147 AND a fight at 154. Mayweather started BIG favourite.
Pac has yet to venture past 130 (TWO weight classes below) and has been beaten 4 times at lower weights.
Pac would be a MASSIVE underdog.

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
Just read an article with crazy Floyd Sr and he offers his erudite analysis of this potential contest:
"Is he crazy? Hatton will beat the f**king socks off of Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao, that guy can't box. All that guy can do is punch. Pacquiao has been with Freddie Roach for all these years and he still can't box. They put him on the pound-for-pound, he should be on the clown-for-pound list."
Haha, what a nut.

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
If Manny beat Hatton,Hatton's legacy would be SEVERLY dented. On the other hand,Manny would have this amazing victory, but where would he go from there>? Retirement?

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
Theres no point in fighting hatton but for a big draw. After what floyd did to hatton I doubt hatton fans will travel back here in america to see him in another big fight even though his fighting a smaller guy.
As for hattons legacy, it pretty much got tainted by floyds left hook.

I disagree, you don't compare amature career to pro career. for one simple reason....theres an age limit to turn pro, fighters can start their amatures at very young age. so to compare the weight class of an amature to a pro's is rediculous and NO floyd was not the same age as pac was when pac was 106. Floyd must of been 12 years old in his amatures in a kids leage while pac was fighting PRO 106 FIGHTERS. Hope you see the difference. wait in case you don't get it let me repeat...pac was fighting P...R....O....ADULT MEN.... AT 106, and if ever floyd fought at 106.....floyd was fighting....A.M.A.T.U.R.E....LITTLE KIDS.....BIG DIFFERENCE.
IMO ;)

Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
Julie,I didn't actually know there was an age limit on when fighters can turn pro. Are you sure?I thought fighters could turn pro when they liked.

Haha, what a nut.
No respect whatsoever with a guy who is has given a lot to boxing and still is. Pac brought excitement and energy into boxing out of nowhere and backed it up with wins over great fighters. To call him a clown is childish and unprofessional.

I don't think Pac will beat JMM this time and he won't beat Hatton if they fought Hatton is to big and strong for Pac,

Agreed. Pacquaio is a great fighter, don't think he'll get past Marquez though. And Hatton is just WAY too big for him.

If Hatton's walking around at 230 he really needs to stay out of the beer halls. That's about 10 gallons of ale in his gut. If Manny hit him in the gut as Hatton walked out of the bar the ensuing flood would drown Manny. About the only way I see Hatton winning....in the ring Manny beats Hatton worse than Mayweather. Course Hatton is already damaged goods because of Floyd Jr so this will be no great feather in Manny's hat.
-
Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
i hope the fight does happen. it would be a shame to deny boxing fans one of the best fights out there for the sake of a few quid, but i guess thats the way it goes. i think it would be an even match, i did think at first that hatton might have lost it after mayweather but he showed a new lease of life in his last fight.
-
Re: If Manny Pacquiao Pulled Off A Win Vs Hatton.........
By the way Manny is only half an inch shorter than Ricky and he also has a two inch reach advantage, and what weight was Manny on the night of the De La Hoya fight around the 149 mark please correct me (short term memorie loss lol ) if I am wrong and Rickys best fighting weight on fight night is the same so tbh thier ain't a lot of differance maybe Ricks stronger physically but theres not much in it. So if Ricky looses it wont be a shock to me, its going to be a very tough fight, edge of your seat stuff if you are fan like me, both guys have good chance of victory. Got to go with Ricky on this one as he has the form at the weight and is used to getting clumped by bigger guys, I reallly think when Manny feels genuine power @ the weight he is going to be shocked and fight back like the warrior he is and that will be his downfall he will trade, he loves it, be it a body shot or just a general wearing down Ricky will be on him if wants a war.
On the other hand Manny has faster feet and could just box all night in and out landing 1-2s and moving off but I cant see that, Manny lets his heart rule his head and thats why we love him so much. If Manny pulls it off in style he should get total respect from all on here, as somone said no amature career, thats got be amazing in the modern game at this level.
-

i actually like hatton in this fight, i think his style will give pacman problems because pac isnt used to fighting guys with such a similar style to himself.

I think Pacquiao and Hatton have two different styles. The only thing I would say is similar is they are both offensive minded. But how they pull off their offenses are two different things.

God i hate guys like u who just make stuff up and refuse to research.
PBF win the 1993 national golden gloves at 106 pounds aged 16 not 12. Manny fouht at 106 aged 17, so not a whole lot of difference there.
Keep in mind Floyd was fighting and beating the best 106 pound amatures in the US, some of these guys were real men not 12 yr olds like u inferred.
Add this to the fact that Pac only fought once at 106 and was fighting at 113 a year later. Pacs crappy early opponents were all in their teens or early 20s and none had good records. They certainly wouldnt have been the calibre of fighter that a top US golden gloves amature is..
