This guy will get knocked out as soon as he steps up. I can't believed he called out Pavlik. Here goes a video of Margarito owning this fat nosed puss. The worse thing is Mora had a big weight advantage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_uQLwuTeOQ

Margarito fought like he was the bigger man and out slicked sergio. Margarito does have more experince than sergio.
Mora is garbage. And I think even he knows it. Why else would he turn down a fight against Jermain Taylor? I think he knew he was going to get smashed
I heard Sergio is fighting Vernon Forrest @ 154 :o
Mind you, this is only a rumor I heard.
Not confirmed.
That sparring match with Margarito was a long time ago
man i hate sergio mora, hope he gets ko'd
I dont hate on Mora the guy does have skillz but he needs to grow some ballz andstep up, he won the contenderand all the others from that first series have stepped up and mostly failed but at least they tried to prove themselves, manfredo, Gomez, Brinkley, Bonsante the list goes on cmon Latin Fake FIGHT.
IO don't think he can be classed as overrated as everyone seems to think he's a C level fighter.
lol good point...
However i do consider him HIGHLY overated for him to have gotten a chance at taylor (who he ran away from).
Sergio Mora is just finding the right fight to lose. Because he HAS to step up, and when he does its lights out. Its just a matter of who its going to be against.
That is true, he blatantly ran scared from Taylor. (Not that Taylor should have wasted his time with him that is)
And I definitely agree that it's only a matter of time before Mora falls at the hands of a decent prospect or Contender.
Honestly that season of the Contender should have been titled "The Journeyman."
Okay since I am new here, I'm sure that I am going to get blasted here, and lose what little rep points I have, but I am going to defend Sergio.
First that video is old, that was done even before The Contender was shot, and he only had 11 or 12 pro-fights at the time, so do you really expect him to do a number on Margarito at that time, come on.
Okay, Sergio won The Contender, so what. He knows, as well as you and I both know, that is not a real title, so why is everyone expecting him to take a big jump into a championship fight right away. He entered that show with only 12 pro-fights under his belt, which means a good portion of his record is the 5 round fights from the show. Plus, compared to most fighters, he is a late starter, since he didn't start boxing until he was 16, plus he has never gone 12 rounds, yet everyone is expecting him to compete at a championship level right away.
He knows, and has admitted, that he was not ready for Taylor. He knows that he has to build his boxing resume, and earn a title shot, just like every other respectable boxer has done. Everyone is saying that Manfredo and Gomez showed some balls by stepping up to world champions. Well they didn't take a step, they took a leap, and look how well that turned out for Manfredo, all he got was a big paycheck to look like a fool, and his career has nose dived ever since, and Gomez is about to go through the same humiliation as Manfredo. But they still have their balls right? I say Sergio was the smart one by not taking a leap before he was ready, and I think that it takes more balls and courage to say no, than to say yes to something you are clearly not ready for, especially since he knew all the crap he would take for it.
Did he say he would like to fight Pavlik? Yes he did, but he didn't say that he wants to fight him right now. Every rising prospect says that they would like to fight the champion, so why is he being blasted for saying what every middleweight fighter is saying? Is he ready for Pavlik? No, and he knows it.
You want to compare him to Pavlik, okay, let's do that. (First, in no way am I criticizing Pavlik, I am a huge fan of Kelly's, he a local guy who's career I have been supporting for sometime now.) Go and look at who Kelly was fighting at the same stage as Sergio's career now, he was fighting the same type of guys, with the same type of records, as the guys that Sergio is fighting now. Kelly did it the smart, and right way, he slowly worked his way up in the level of competition he faced, and that is what Sergio is attempting to do as well. Remember Pavlik did not get that title shot until his 32nd fight, Sergio only has 21 fights, so cut the guy some slack, and let him grow as a fighter. He has skills, but they are skills that he is still developing.
I've actually gotten the chance to get to know Sergio, and he is a very down to earth guy. He is very respectful, and very honest. He will, and has, come right out say that he has sucked in some of his fights. Like the Ayala fight, he didn't walk out of the ring pissed off over the decision, he was pissed off at himself for fighting so poorly, and he even said so in the post fight press conference, and interviews. Trust me, he knows when he doesn't fight well, and nothing pisses him off more than that.
So all I'm trying to say is that Sergio is not the jerk that many of you think he is, and I think he should be given the chance to develop his boxing skills the right way, and not sink his career by jumping into a fight that he is not ready for.
Whilst I admire your loyalty and subsequent arguemnet, I have just on counter question:
Why would he say he would like to fight Taylor and then turn down the fight when offered?
He's Talking a good game and not following up on it...The idea of the Contender was to elevate the status and publicism of a fighter. It was then the responsability of the fighter to use his status to the best of his ability. Do you think Mora used his boost well?
I feel the first thing he should have done after the Contender is fight some twelve rounders....It's his managers choice whether or not to do that.....
So he's confident enough to drop Kelly Pavlik's name but not confident enough to fight a twelve rounder ???
First off welcome to the board...
Anyone for giving you bad reps for having your own opinion is just a fool. Your entitled to it, and share it with everyone here. However, i would have to disagree with you. At the time JT vs Mora was being talked about, sergio mora went on record as to saying his speed could beat taylor. And when it fell through Sergio mora did not mention that he was not ready. His big hang up was the location of the fight, meaning if the fight was anywhere else but JT's hometown he would of went through with it.
Sergio mora on more than one occasion, wether it be through interview or during FNF commentary has said he was ready for the big names and was ready to be at the top of his division. This was not Recent either, this was around the same time as the JT possible fight.
Now, its understandable if Sergio mora was just trying to sell himself. Its ok. But no one should be surprised when fans, or other fighters call him on it. Thats kinda whats going on now. He said he could do it, he's not doing it (actually the opposite) and people are just pulling his card.
No surprise right?
Right on the money donny.
Im not a huge fan of manfredo, but after the contender he took some 12 rounders and went for big fights. Calz and Lacy, and he was the runner up to sergio. so when you look at the two side by side, the person who lost the contender did more alot more with it, than the person who is supposed to be THE CONTENDER.
hard to give credit to sergio when the people he "beat" are doing more than him.
If anyone was stupid enough to believe Mora was anywhere near ready for a title shot then he or she knows nothing about the sport.
He had an 11 and 0 record before coming onto the show.
Today, he still does not have the experience to beat any of the top level fighters. Lacks pop too. He could be a decent and entertaining fighter. Does not have a soft chin either, just lacks experience.
Who ever managed his career after the show, insert Jeff Wald's name here, dropped the ball. Gomez career was handled much better but, they are dropping the ball by trying to feed Gomez to Cotto. Alfonso Gomez is nowhere near ready for Cotto and if and when they meet, Cotto will mop Gomez and we will all say he was not ready and lacked the experience and Gomez was not all that to begin with.
Sergio's mistake was that he did not take the proper steps. If this was Arum, he would have move Mora along nicely like he has done with other prospects. Arum is the man. Uncle Bob rules.
In closing, Mora did not deserve a title shot against Taylor or anyone else for that matter. If you were stupid enough to believe Sergio was going to fight Taylor, then guess what? You were stupid enough to believe it and that makes you stupid. lol
Manfredo had 15 more fights than Mora coming into the show and Mora beat the noise out of the so called Pride. Manfredo got beat by basicly and damn near an amatuer. Mora is still better than the Pride of Providance. Manfredo was totally out classed by Calzaghe. What made people think Manfredo was anywhere near ready for someone like Calzaghe when Manfredo could not even beat little skinny Sergio Mora? LMAO!
# 1 it was 8 fights more then Sergio... # 2 if you think in the second fight Manfredo got "the noise beaten out of him" you don't pay very close attention. And # 3 people now a days are getting title shots with 13 or 14 fights not like way back when when guys like Buddy Mcgirt had to fight What, like 40 fights or something before he got a shot?
Not a very well backed post!:p;)
Sorry but when your professional fighter.. And you say you CAN beat JT, whether you believe it or not, if you say it, then get the opportunity to do it, and decline...What are people supposed to think now?
Im not treating sergio mora any different than Andy Lee, or Kahn.
If andy lee got the chance to fight winky wright, and then declined due to location of the fight, i would get on his ass and stewards ass for saying he wanted him.
And if kahn got a fight with hatton i would get on his ass if he chickened out too..
If you open your mouth like your a baddass and then fold when it comes time to prove it, guess what... Your gonna get Sh!t for it. Plain and simple.
Toe'n the line w/ Eric Reagan aint doing it for me.
Fight who you said you wanted to fight. Fight who you said you were ready to fight. And if your not ready..STFU and let others get in on the action.
Ok, so it was 9 fights more than Mora.
Sergio still beat Peter's @ss twice.
Who the phuk is getting big title fights at 13 or 14 fights of their careers?
You are talking plastic trinkets here like the MAT, WNB or you must be talking about MMA. Who is getting shots at the WBC with 13 fights under them? I think Mora was the only one :spit:
Mora is still better than Manfredo Jr. I don't care who Manfredo fights, he still sucks.
Sergio is OLDER than Pavlik, so you can almost throw out the "look at who kelly was fighting at this stage in his career" You're missing the point i think.. Kelly earned everything he has now.. he worked his way from the BOTTOM up.. He was not overhyped.. in fact many had him losing to Miranda pre-fight.. and he was the underdog in the Taylor fight.. Kelly HAD to fight the guys he fought to work his way up to get the big fights.. Sergio won the Contender.. We all have seen what the contender has done for fighters as far as marketability goes, and as far as title shots.. Sergio won the Contender, and he talks a lot of smack, and then runs from the competition... Sergio is ranked top 15 as a middleweight and he hasn't done anything to earn that.. that is why he is "over-rated"..
As far as the guys he is fighting at "this time in his career".. Sergio is fighting NOBODIES (when he could be fighting champions or higher caliber fighters) and what makes it WORSE is that he fought ONCE in 2007 and looked COMPLETELY TERRIBLE and should've lost that fight.. For someone who relies on his speed and reflexes to win fights, he is not getting any younger.. Throw out the "this time in his career" and look at his age, and the style of fighter he is.. Not that he is old, at 27, but he is not getting any younger.. He obviously does not have KO power (or even close) so he needs to make his run when he will be able to.. which was right after the Contender, up until the end of last year.. and now he actually has to fight some people to be recognized considering he waited so long after the Contender.
Sorry man, he is cocky and over-rated.
Look at any of the smaller weightclasses. Guys are defending titles with 14 fights under their belt... And your welcome to your oppinion nomatter how saddly backed it may be.
Your correct he won the frst fight and got a gift(hometown) decision on the second.
Did he even have a shot against Calzaghe, no. Did he deserv the fight? no. But Mora talks shit. Talks shit and then backs off like a bully once he got called out. Look, say what you want about Manfredo but remember he went to wales... As I remember it was Mora who was crying like a bitch he didn't want to fight in JTs backyard. At least Manfredo have the set to go over there and give it a shot even though we all knew he was badly outgunned from the getgo.
Go ahead, now and checkout boxrec...
Here are a few guys that fought for or won titles in just a few fights
Nubuo Nashiro (WBA) 9 fights
Silence Mabusa (IBO) 11 fights
Ulisis Solis (WBO) 17 fights
Wladimir Sidorenko (WBA) 15 fights
Vic (IBF) 20 fights
Nonito Donair (IBF) 18 fights
Smoked? You must be smoking :spit:
Did he knock Sergio out? No! Did he ever hurt Sergio? No! Unless you count the vicious head butts, there was nothing else there. Peter should have destroyed Mora and he did not or could not. Niether fighter did enough but Manfredo's silly claims that Sergio never hit him are just laughable. :spit:
And to claim that should have been a UD is just silly as well. A draw maybe but no way did ManFraudo win every round. Manfredo was running in the later stages of the fight and holding Sergio in the final 15 seconds of the final round. Peter blew it by playing games. He should have been on Sergio from begining to end.
why should he have "destroyed" him? You call him "Manfraudo" and then say he should've destroyed him.. You need to re-read your posts before you post them.. you're not realizing how much you're hating on Manfredo right now.. Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows that Manfredo won that fight, i'm not even going to argue that. Believe me, i'm not defending Manfredo, i'm just telling you how it is.. I'm not losing sleep over the decision.. Mora got beat man, end of story.
You posted midgets. I was talking big boys not chihuahuas. Some of those fighters lost as you can see. Others with 18 and 19 is not the same as 13 and 14. Five fights makes a huge difference that adds to the experience level of a fighter. Sergio with enough experience could grab one of those trinkets. On the other hand I don't care how much experience Manfredo get's, he will always be GARBAGE. :D
Manfredo should have destroyed Sergio becuase Sergio was sick and then get's head butted until he is cut twice over his eye. yes, Peter should have knocked Sergio out but he did not. Peter let the fight get away from him and eventualy Sergio turned the fight around and began whooping Pedork. Yes I could have accepted a draw to apeaze the Manfredo'ites but the judges did not see it that way and they scored it correctly, at least two of them did ;)
You might want to read your posts cuz you make yourself sound like an idiot...
"Who the phuk is getting big title fights at 13 or 14 fights of their careers?"
Here are a few guys that fought for or won titles in just a few fights
Nubuo Nashiro (WBA) 9 fights
Silence Mabusa (IBO) 11 fights
Your posts are garbage and no one can keep up with your contradictions...
nice try danny:p
Ok biatch boy. Since you want to call names.
So you posted 2 people. You made this sound like everyone is getting title shots at 13 and 15 fights of their career and you are full of SHIET.
Further more stupid arse, Nubuo Nashiro lost so what does that tell you? It was a one sided fight and Nubuo Nashiro did not have the experience.
This leaves you with one fighter Silence Mabuza who later got knocked the fuck out by Marquez.
None of those fighters were getting a shot at the prestigious WBC belt which the big boys hold. Huge difference.
Sit the phuk down.
Hey moron... Read the post... I said shots... SHOTS! and so did you... I'll sit on boxrec all day and find you 20 but I don't need to. It doesn't matter...
Go back to contradicting yourself to everyone else... You're making yourself sound like a giant tool.
First Sergio Dminated peter
Then It should have been a draw.
Then each fighter didn't do enough
Then He got his ass kicked twice
Whats next...
C'mon. We'd all like to know whatother shinanagins you have for us:rolleyes:
Please Danny, I need to be enlightened due to your dominating knowlege of boxing... It just eclipses anyone elses here.
You've already taught me so much. I thirst for more!
I'll sit down when I get tired... For right now... I'll stand :)
Danny, you remind me of a buddy of mine who always argues his "favorite" team is the best.. That is what all of your arguments revolve around.. Which makes you impossible to have a debate with because you debate with your feelings, which make you blind to the actual facts of what is going on. Just because you feel a certain way, does not mean it is correct, that is why your arguments keep falling short and you have to say things like "sit the phuk down" cause you can't back up your posts.
Go read a book.
