Manny wants to fight Hatton?
I was shocked to know that Pacquaio may have an idea of fighting Hatton after he fights with Diaz. What say you guys?

The news here:
‘Only Manny can beat Manny’
By Joaquin Henson
The only way Manny Pacquiao will lose to Juan Manuel Marquez in their scheduled 12-round WBC superfeatherweight title fight in Las Vegas on March 15 is if he beats himself.
That’s the assessment of two close associates in Team Pacquiao, dismissing the possibility of the Mexican scoring an upset on his merits.
“Distraction is the only thing that will beat Manny and that’s not going to happen,” said one of the associates in Los Angeles. “In my four years of staying close to Manny, I haven’t seen him as focused in training and as determined to win.”
The same source confirmed that Pacquiao is “a changed man” and “rejuvenated.”
“His training is proceeding according to plan and Freddie (Roach) has even had to hold him back because Manny wants to do more than he’s programmed to do in a day in the gym,” said the source.
“He’s in a great mood. He jokes around the guys. You don’t see him down. He wakes up early and sleeps early. He eats right and burns what he eats so weight isn’t a problem. He’s now about 136 pounds. When he leaves for Las Vegas a week before the fight, he’ll be around 133. He’ll show up for the weigh-in less than 130. Unlike in the (Marco Antonio) Barrera fight where he had difficulty making the weight, this time, he’s on target. At the moment, he’s close to 80 percent from peak condition. He’ll be at his peak when he fights Marquez.”
Pacquiao logs anywhere between 29 to 32 rounds of combined sparring, bagging, punching mitts, shadow-boxing and keeping rhythm with a speedball every day at the Wild Card Gym. He also does roadwork in the morning.
At night, Pacquiao just relaxes in his apartment at the Palazzo and watches DVDs. The movies he’s seen lately were “Catch Me If You Can” “The Fantastic Four” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.” It’s lights out by 10 p.m. for Pacquiao each night.
“Freddie can’t keep up with Manny,” said the other associate who monitors Pacquiao’s training progress. “Freddie used a brand-new set of mitts when Manny started training. Now, the mitts are so banged up that Freddie has to buy a new pair. Manny always wants to do extra rounds. We heard Marquez is running 10 miles a day and started training a month ahead but no one can match Manny’s intensity in the gym.”
The source said what piqued Pacquiao was Marquez’ boast during their press conference last month. Marquez said he’ll prove Pacquiao is no Mexican assassin by knocking him out.
“Manny just smiled when he heard Marquez brag,” said the source. “But he later told me he didn’t like what Marquez said. If Marquez got up from three knockdowns in their first fight, Manny promised he won’t get up this time.”
The source said Pacquiao knows what’s at stake in the fight and that’s why he’s so focused.
“Manny can’t afford to lose because he knows what (Bob) Arum has lined up for him,” said the source. “After beating Marquez, he’ll go for the WBC lightweight title against (David) Diaz then before the year ends, he’ll stand to earn about $30 million for fighting Ricky Hatton. Marquez is a stepping stone for bigger things. Manny knows he’ll have to get past Marquez before fighting Diaz and Hatton.”

Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
He can but it's a bad idea. He could get himself killed.
Remember, Pac started @ 108.

Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
I don't think Pac will be thinking about Diaz or Hatton after he loses to Marquez
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?

Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
stepping stone jmm? ive heard that before, jmm is in the same position he was in at the first fight. he was pac stepping stone to get to morales. pac eventually did get to morales but he overlook jmm well we all saw the fight resulted in a draw. this time around jmm is still a stepping stone but pac is not over looking him, looks like jmm made a mistake of running his mouth. Now he will pay, this tells us one thing is for certain. Pac is focus and jmm is in trouble!!!!!

thats what everbody thought when he fought mab the first time. then when he fought morales. no matter who pac fights and who he beats, he will never sum up to a lot of peoples eyes. thats what happens when your popular. some will like you and would love to see you go on, some will hate you no matter what. as long as pac, or any boxer for this instance, throws a punch and knows how to punch, anything can happen.

Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
Now, Hatton would really have some tearful nights if he lost to Pacquiao! :D
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
Hatton would make alot of £££ for the fight but he would also look like a prat fighting Manny when guys like Paulie and Witter are around.
As for Manny, fighting David Diaz, winning another "world title" my ass. He's fighting one of the wekest fighters at 135 and scraping the division from the bottom of the barrel.Guzman,Kats,Casamayor, and mainly Juan Diaz should all be ahead of David Diaz.

You are one of the more knowledgeable posters in here but this time your head is wrapped too tight with a bandana of the Phillipine flag . Would you have your fighter in any other mindset ? What a joke, and this is supposed to send Pac into approaching the fight with more intensity? Like saying that you will challenge Diaz and Hatton afterward is less respectful? JMM's comments and Pac''s reaction is a blessing. Pac can feel free to revert to his old reckless / skill less style and get countered to death again. Round one (mind game) goes to JMM......... Let's see Pac is supposed to win this fight, but if he does not I'll be one of the 1st to run your biased _ ss off the site come Sat, Mar 16, 2008.

People said that about Trinidad fighting Jones and Trinidad was way past his prime and 'fresh' from a two year retirement.
Pacquiao is in his physical prime and is fighting for the status of being called the greatest p4p fighter in the world.
It's exactly the kind of fight an all time great would take and Pacquiao wants to be seen as an all time great.
They are both 5 ft 6, both weight exactly the same on fight night and Manny has the longer reach.
It's by no means a blowout and IS a freaking HUGE MEGA PPV fight.
C'mon people who would you rather see them fight, Hatton fight Witter and Pacquiao fight Guzman
Fuck that, let's have a huge marquee mega fight :)

Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
Bilbo hit it on the head. The size difference isn't that great. The natural difference isn't as great as Oscar vs PBF. Pacman is the p4p #2 fighter in the world, and he would pay about 10x as much as Witter or Paulie. Duhh??
I would buy this every day and 2x on Sunday rather than watch Hatton fight Witter or Paulie, and in year or so it will take to make this fight, I would hope Ricky gets rid of one of those guys in the meanwhile.

Pac has longer reach and half inch taller than Hatton. But I don't think that matters after seeing the Williams-Quintana fight.
Hatton is naturally bigger than Pac. It's a mismatch.

I would never imagine a Pac fan admitting that Pac simply wouldn't win against someone or at least have a challenging fight. But yeah, good point there about the weight.

You hit it there. Height and reach advantage does not matter here. However, if Pacquaio will be able to knock out Juan Diaz (not David), then he can fight Hatton and I will be very confident.:)

Yes like in their 1st fight. of course it is hard to remember that kinda stuff after Pac's awesome display in round one. The counters and the bodyshots and the peppering to Pac's face that caused bleeding never happened right? I guess the pixels on my Plasma screen are not synchronized to the true airwaves of those that Pac Fantics receive.

I am not a MAB fan but I assume he is wayside with all the other undersized and geriatric Mexican fighters Pac has beaten. Pac is in his prime and fighting geezers.... What gives? JMM fight should result in a tough win but why not fight the baby bull .....? Instead Pac wants the lesser Diaz and an overrated midget from the UK!
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
hatton at 140 is almost unbeatable, pac would get crushed
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
I would take Pac over the Baby-Bull.
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
i'm sure some of you guy's opinions have changed. what a difference 10 months make. lol
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
After seeing him gain weight but didn't lose his speed would surely change minds of everyone here... Don't get me wrong... I still give the slight edge on Ricky but we had seen that Pac can truly give him a tough fight...
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
I started this thread when Manny was still untested in the higher weights. Now that he has shown that he can still carry his speed at higher weights, I am of the belief that Pacman vs HAtton wouldn't be a mismatch anymore.
-
Re: Manny wants to fight Hatton?
My opinion hasn't changed. I was right all along, including my hope that Hatton would clean up Witter or Paulie.
I was wrong that Pac was too small for Oscar, but honestly, I think some of what happened over the weekend was that Oscar got old before our eyes. He looked shot, but even with that being said, I give Manny all props for the win. Manny vs Hatton is a great matchup. I said it then an my mind hasn't changed. Many was the number #2 P4P then, but he's #1 in the world right now, and he's the only guy who can compete with Hatton at 140.
Unless PBF comes out of retirement to face Manny, he's going to fight Manny and it will be boxings biggest event of 2009.
