Man that was a beat down, Tank didn't know where he was :o
How long before Kimbo steps into the UFC, I've got a feeling he'd clean up.
No way Noguiera stands up to his punches.
He's an animal
I would put him against anyone on their feet in any of the organizations Elite, UFC or WEC...He is dangerous to throw fist with...just a brutal streetfighter period..no other way to describe it...
It is his ground game that is questionable...He has a great trainer in Bas Rutten...Bas was a dangerous man in his day....He has trained some good fighters like Mark Curr in the past....
With wins like this it just gives him longer to perfect and learn things
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch this fight, but I had a feeling Kimbo would win. I've heard a lot of people say that Kimbo would get stomped if put in the ring with a professional fighter, and that he's not really that tough, but they just don't like him because he's not afraid to step up, and he's a tough SOB I don't care what anyone says.
(Wonder if this fight will be on youtube soon)
Kimbo also reminds me of Clubber Lang in the Rocky movies. ;D
Kimbo gets himself into a rage in the ring, its awesome. He did throw 3 sucker punches to Tanks head when he was on the floor, lol he was in destroy mode. He KTFO of Tank which is saying something, Tank may be old but he's still a sturdy guy. Its a shame Kimbo didnt get into boxing earlier, we might actually have an interesting heavyweight to talk about nowadays. One thing is for certain, he sells tickets.
the punches at the back of tanks head pretty much done in tank. Tanks only hope was to land first but that didn't happen, he tried taking kimbo down but that didn't help much. Kimbo just had faster hands plus the swinging back of the head push of punch.
I think Brock would murder kimbo though, standing up kimbo would have the advantage but Brock will put him on the ground no problem and ain't no way kimbo can pull of a submission like mir did. Kimbo pretty much has no submission skills.
cc rain.
i agree with the last post.
Lesnar stomps Kimbo in the 1st round.
What a shock.
I was hoping Abbott would knock Kimbo's teeth out after that mouthpiece throwing incident.
That ref is a pussy.
Yeah the ref lost control for a sec and was intimidated...Big John McCarthy or Herb Dean would not have delt with that....Kimbo needs to learn how to compose himself a bit....IMO it was more heat of the moment then anything...Same for the hit in back of head when Tank was down...It was the old "Resort to what you know best"....Stuff like that is fixed as you get more fights and learn to relax in there
Didnt see that coming  So far hes beaten worst of both worlds, mercer(past it boxer) and tank abbot (past it mma fighter). Whos next, ali maybe?
Naaah, maybe Tyson. ;D :-X
Here's a video of the fight. It sure didn't take Kimbo long...

Right now there's only one guy in mma who IMO can truly stand with kimbo, and that's Cheik kongo. His stand up is very pretty.
kongo and arlovski
Oh abosolutely...Just as Lesner found out recently being strong and hitting hard isn't enough...These top MMA guys only need a split sec to catch you in a bad position....
Congo needs to improve his ground game a bit...it has been improving each time out and in a few years IMO he will be a dominate force...His stand up is SICK...his power is scary.....Get a decent ground game and it is a make up for a demolishing machine...
Kimbo needs to learn how to compose himself even on his feet...we have yet to see any ground game but he can't lose control in the moment like the other night when he hit Abbott in the back of the head...being dangerous and hitting hard is one thing you need to be composed to become truly effective...be it MMA or Boxing
compose to be effective, thats so true. Like my boy tyson, frustrate him and he'll be like a headless chicken running around hopeless.
I like congo i think he has a good future, he dominated crocop and not just caught him with something out of nowhere but really beat him. Im still hopeful for Andre though. I really hope he can become champion. I don't know what Randys problem is but Nogeria is now the interim champ and Im not sure if Andre can beat either guy just yet. Ive seen a lot of Nogeria back in pride his pretty good, I think randy beats him though.
Arlovski has a very heavy right hand but his chin in questionable. In addition, he is not one to muck it up like Kimbo. He wasn't exactly what anyone would call "aggressive" against Werdum and Werdum doesn't have NEARLY the power of Kimbo. So yes, he probably COULD stand with Kimbo, but WOULD he?
Kimbo is scary no doubt and I would love to see him and Brock go at it. Right now Kimbo is more relevant too. I would say Brock has more potential but if Matt Serra can beat down GSP then anything is possible if any heavyweight looks past Kimbo.
Cheik, I don't see it. Not impressed, I don't think the formula to beat him is any sort of mystery. Get it to the ground. It's not like he has been a terror standing up either. He's got a couple good names on his record but he has been far from impressive imo.
He's real ugly on the ground and anyone with any sort of energy is going to get past that grab and pray defense he has and get him out of there. Don't think he makes it to far against the top tier simply because of how lacking his ground game is and his stand up isn't enough to compensate.
Sorry but I don't give that much weight. Abbott didn't even look like he wanted to be there, and is well known to not train AT ALL for fights. He prides himself on showing up from weeks of barhopping. He's so far past it.
That being said, I do think Kimbo is dangerous and a solid opponent with some very exciting fights ahead. Not impressed with beating Abbott though.
Who is next for Kimbo? Enjoy watching his fights.
Wasn't impressed in the way that Abbott was anything special to beat but like other pweople are saying Kimbo makes it exciting...It is the aura he brings....I am still curious to see what happens when he fights a guy with a pulse....Bas Rutton is the secret weapon IMO...If he is working with Kimbo even half as much as they say Kimbo should be able to at least avoid being walked on by anyone but the elite....
Bas is bringing him along like a young prospect fighter...building his confidence slowly til he is sure Slice is ready for a real opponent...building his confidence...Lets just hope it is not the pace Duva has been bringing Mike Marrone
Well Duva is like Marrone's dad. Marrone DOESN'T have the goods to be a top fighter. He's skilled and a solid guy but he's getting ko'd when he goes against a heavy hitter. Duva doesn't want to see that. Keep him on FNF against guys who get 4days to train and aren't big punchers so Marrone can keep his undefeated record.
I think traditionally MMA is much more competetive when building a fighter. Boxing a guy has to be undefeated so they put him in with pillows for 30 fights before he faces a challenge. Don't think Kimbo or any mma guy getting groomed is getting off that easy.
This Kimbo guy is like Joe Calzaghe. He hasn't fought anyone that is of any class or who isn't collecting social security. Why don't they set up a Lesnar Slice. Kimbo would be destroyed in seconds by Brock's ground game and his power. I thought it was a miracle that Mir won. He was getting his ass beat. I think submission is kind of pussy like and really doesn't work in the street. If someone arm bars me or any thing else I would crush there nutts to the point that having children would be out of the question . But I guess.......what ever he won. No holes barred I still think Brock buries him. Hell set up Slice with Randy Coture. Slice losses . Tank was a joke in UFC . The guy gets winded getting into the ring.
The comparison with Joe Calzaghe is way off, I can only assume you don't take much of an interest in Boxing.
As for Brock Lesnar he's an actor who got found out last time cos he has no power. As soon as Lesnar is hit on the chin it will shatter. Lesnars strength is on the floor and that's where he lost so god forbid what would happen if Kimbo hit him.
Here is your overrated cream puff losing a fight to a guy with ground game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViKrFu7zCcM
The guy wasnt even allowed to use knees. Kimbo tries to shoot and gets choked and his homies protest.
First of all Gannon cheated, The rules for the smoker fights are hands only....Gannon got him in a chokle hold and would not let go....Kimbo was up a long time before he went out...So before you start getting smug with yourself speak facts....
Second it was a long long time ago when that fight took place....Since you are soo smart take a look at Gannons MMA record, 0-1 he went into MMa based on that fight...look at the year he fought MMA as a pro....
Slice is training with one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time Bas Rutton...I agree that Kimbos ground game is more then likely horrible at this stage and a decent MMA fighter with a half assed ground game would take him on the mat but present it in the right context...Don't use a video from that far back and the fact the guy cheated to make an arguement...That is just plain BS
I seriously disagree about submissions. Obviously they are less exciting but equally as effective. If someone breaks your arm in a fight, you're not gonna be doing a whole lot. Same with choking you out, if someone gets you in a good choke, or armbar, you are in pain and you're not in a position to do much damage to them.
Kimbo is not god. Pathetic. I cant belive people think that Kimbo kills a more powerful wrestler mma pro like Lesnar.
