I hope it's the night for the Jab
Looks like PBF is asking too much again and OScar is setting a smoke screen to supposedly fight Cotto. So Floyd can settle for less.
now what happened to fighting Hatton?
INO, Cotto will beat Oscar & be too much for the Golden Boy to handle at this point in his career! Cotto is the only fighter that I believe that can defeat PBF & has the heart & determination to beat either opponent!
Who are suppose to fight with Hatton? ;D I dont think that Hatton going return to WW after the last KO that he get , but in my opinion he cant fight anymore in that Division , perhaps by money , moreover i didnt hear that Hatton will fight with one of them , was true ?:-\
Heart doesn't win fights. Many boxers out there have had the heart and still get beaten by Mayweather. I really hope Oscar fights Cotto. I've seen Cotto get rocked by a punch in different fights, imagine one solid hook to Cotto's chin.
I don't understand. First, people get angry because he's fighting Forbes and he's like a stepping mat. Then, people complain because he's having a rematch with Mayweather. Then, he talks about fighting Cotto and more complains! Aren't we some spoiled little brats? Come on guys, if someone hates ODLH so much, wouldn't it be sweet to see him get completely punished (which I doubt) by Cotto? Let him get in the ring with Cotto then!
I believe I would like to see this fight more than Mayweather. This would be even bigger a PPV than Oscar vs Mayweather.
I hearded that everybody talk about that( line above ), but in addition that means , that he showed to whole world that he can sustain a good shot from anybody and thats good are not doubt that he will , but ODHL Do you thiink that he will? from Cotto ,Mayweather do you think that he will? from Cotto , Cmon :-\,i see you thinking, dont think my frind dont loss your time , because you know that they CANT .........;D
Maybe in Puerto Rico, but a Cotto vs. Delahoya match would be lucky to get 60% of the PPV buys that a Mayweather vs. Delahoya rematch would get in the rest of the world.
Don't forget............. it was a split decision, and a few people (probably die hard Delahoya fans) thought Oscar won the fight.
PBF-Oscar II (shudder) may well be a bigger PPV event than Cotto-Oscar.... but it wouldn't be a better fight. Miguel would force Oscar to fight.
fwock rotten boy and pretty gay!!!!
i ain't watching anymore rotten boy fights and until pretty gay fights cotto then i'll watch him again!!!!
Cotto-Mosley had both.... and was damn entertaining (maybe FOY candidate). Credit to PBF for taking on a naturally bigger fighter (Oscar), but Pretty Boy is more intent on fighting "low KO risk" fighters and adding to his legacy, than he is on fighting anyone who might bust up his face.
Hopefully Cotto makes easy work of Gomez (I'm positive he will) and beats the winner of the Margarito vs. Cintron fight to unify the WBA and IBF titles, so that Cotto and Mayweather can fight for the unification of all of the welterweight titles. Nobody has had all of the belts at welterweight since Zab Judah.
Cotto vs. Mosley was a great fight that was very entertaining and was a FOTY canidate, but so was Mayweather vs. Hatton (don't forget that Hatton is the naturally bigger guy)
If the Delahoya vs. Mayweather 2 fight happens at 154 again, then I would bet on it being more of a chess match than a brawl, but if it's at 147 then I would pick Mayweather by a knockout real late in the fight. Floyd has no business at 154 and would be out of his mind to go in there and trade shots with Oscar. But at 147, Mayweather seems a lot more comfortable and has finally grown/adjusted to the weight.
I can't help but wonder if Cotto would have gone up to 154 to fight Delahoya, and if so, would we see the same highly aggressive Cotto that we see at 147? Or would we see a much more cautious, reserved Miguel Cotto? Personally, I would predict the latter. But who knows? Cotto has proved me wrong on more than one occasion.
I hope like hell Floyd doesn't get baited by Oscar "My way or the highway" De La Hoya to fight at 154. Make the Golden Boy get back down to 147 if he wants another go at Floyd. You're right... Floyd has no business at 154. At 147, he beats DLH easily. (By KO if I'm lucky). As for Cotto... as much as I admire him, he doesn't have the height for 154. IMO, 147 should be Cotto's highest division.
From what I hear, Delahoya is fighting Steve Forbes (a super lightweight) at a catch-weight of 150 pounds. Hopefully he's working his way back down to 147 for the Mayweather fight.
I can't think of any other reason that Oscar would be fighting a 140 pound guy at 150 pounds unless he plans on fighting Mayweather at 147.
Don't underestimate Oscar the businessman. He's nothing if not superbly shrewd, especially regarding his own career. He'll end up doing what his "super-computer" spits out in terms of lowest risk with maximum return. A victory over Floyd remains one of Oscar's main goals, so he can go out claiming he beat the world's top p4p. But he'll likely use his clout and business savvy to coerce Floyd into fighting at whatever weight Oscar wants. And with catch weights all the rage now, who knows. Could we see a 153.5 pound fight between PBF and Oscar in the horizon?
I also think this is some kind of ploy to to fight floyd, but if they do fight delahoya still can box his ass off and i think he will be the crap out of cotto if they do.
If Oscar genuinely wants to be the saviour of boxing he should concentrate on being a promoter and hype the fights that actually matter, like the one last Saturday night. If he has to fight again I'd rather it be against Cotto no higher than 150, Cotto will make him fight.
i like de la hoya but to be honest i felt he should of retired after thr mayweather fight and stayed that way.
people keep saying that pretty bitch floyd is gonna beat cotto,,lol dats not gonna happen , first of all pbf dont wanna fight him ,,cotto is a trow back fighter ,,he will fight anyone , zab judah got faster hands then floyd ,,cotto smashed him ,,victoriano sosa went 12 rounds with pbf ,,pbf killed him in like 6 rounds ,cotto didnt wanna fight mosley ,,cotto smashed him too,,the jab waz the difference in that fight mosley couldnt do nothing ,,,, but pbf aint gonna fight cotto he scared ,,pbf dont even wanna fight margarito ,,paul williams beat margarito ,, and then carlos quintana killed paul williams he landed the left all day ,,,cotto killed destroyed carlos quintana ,,, cotto is gonna be hard to beat ,,,yea he got rocked in a couple fights but he came back and knocked corley out ricardo torres ,thats heart ,,,hes the best right now
Why didn't Oscar pipe up when Cotto was looking for opposition for the fight now scheduled with Alfonso Gomez, or the fight with Mayorga proposed afterward.
Hey Wiz , how are you doing,of curse this information i dont know if exist yet but maybe you can get it , these inform . i got it from a journal of this site , » Primera Hora , this is an a spanish journal and have to go to sport seccion (deporte) choose boxing (boxeo)and the topics is ODLH lo anade en su lista , so i hope that will get it ,try it .......
:D Hi my friend hitmandonny how are you ahhhh.? Well ,we know that this sport means now $money ODLH wanted fight Cotto before Gomez , but then he retract for fight again with Mayweather , maybe he think it going be more money with Mayweather , but this fight is not concrete yet , is probably that he announce this with the objetive if this fight it not make it but then have Cotto to make his last big fight , that is what he want ;retire with a BIG PURSE no matter if he lose or win and for conclution he know what he will get if fight Cotto , he changed his style of fight i dont think that his style favorate him with Cotto.....
I'll be surprised if the fight happens. Cotto would retire Oscar for good.
And whats with the weird font sizes some people are using these days? Just annoying! :-\
 Hey sweetPea, if read some spanish you can get it in » Primera Hora in sport seccion . That was a announce that he made to this journal.

Chino... I don't think Oscar's got the "cojones" to get in the ring with Cotto.
Hahahaha! Well, look at Oscar's resume, has he ducked anybody? Probably one of the best resumes out there at the moment.
FrozenSolid,Quote:
Mayweather vs. Delahoya 2 would be a great match up of skill and technique (again) but probably not so entertaining for the people who prefer brawls as opposed to the science of boxing.
Exactly. I think people were expecting an Erik vs. Barrera - Vazquez vs. Marquez - Carbajal vs. Gonzalez kind of thing but we are talking about 2 of the smartest boxers out there, Mayweather and ODLH. The fight was not full of fireworks for many boxing fans but at least for me it was EXCITING and enjoyed every minute of it. Both guys being cautious. Far far far from what many people say that ODLH got completely dominated, punished, stepped on, annihilated, destroyed, humiliated, etc.
THere is a difference between diehard, and brain dead... die hard fans though Dela Hoya made a good showing of himself, brain dead fans thought Dela Hoya won... Half the people in the crowd didn't even realize they were fighting for Oscar's 154 pound belt which goes to show the overall knowledge of the people at the fihgt... As for the truth of it, at most he won half as many rounds as Mayweather.
I like both Brawls and technical boxing matches.
Thing was in this fight.. what was there for even a technical fan to appreciate ?
Floyds amazing defence ? -he was so far away from all the punches most the time that it wasn't fun to watch at all. It wasn't like in e.g. the nDou or Corley fights where he has that amazing crab defence type thing, ducking and blocking everything. Or even in the Baldomir fight where the slipping etc was just so fast it was amazing , the way he used the elbows etc, I love to watch that,
De la Hoyas attacks ? - Yea , great to watch the 8 or so times this happened, I was very excited when he was throwing those flurrys at Floyd on the ropes, but it happened not frequently enough to make a good viewing
Hey Macho, I'm not bad at all, Hope you are well.
I wasn't aware he had wanted the fight with Cotto earlier, thanks for telling me!
I thbik Oscar can get a beig purse no matter who he fights, his name attracts fans who normally have little interest in the sport and even fighting Forbes I presume he'll make a substantial profit.
Now, I like Oscar, I thought he was an exciting fighter in his prime. But I will be supporting Miguel Cotto should this fight happen.
Hi hitmandonny , you know what, i share your opinion because if ODLH would have the same style , strategie and phisical condition when he fought with Trinidad , i will say that maybe he will win to Cotto by his speed , movement , combination , double shot of jab , everything that mean boxing , but now i see that he change something of his style like more tense or tight ,less speed , toe to toe and we know that he have hard shot , but with an opponent like Cotto is too risky for do that , so is like what you said he was an exciting fighter in his Prime .;D
I agree Macho,
If you add on the fact that Oscar has been seen to fade down the stretch in his recent fights and that Miguel seems to get stronger I believe that Miguel Cotto could actually have a chance of Stopping De la Hoya late.
