Were any you Brits hit by quake on Wednesday?

Re: Were any you Brits hit by quake on Wednesday?
Trust me any quakes we have in the UK are just a laughable embarrassment compared to yours.
If youre earthquakes are the equivilant of mile high rollercoasters with limitless loops, twists and gravity defying drops our quakes are a pleasant gentle ride on the teacups with your baby.
Even flowers survive our hurricanes and if we had volcano's old people would bathe in the 'lava' pools to open their pores.
We are shit at natural disasters

I'm an earthquake survivor. I'm still waiting for a TV crew to turn up and interview me.

Don't feel bad, in order to fit the requirements for interview you need to ideally be a middle aged, fat woman, intermittently sobbing and sighing with a wet dishevelled look and ideally some mud or soot on your face.
It's bad enough there has been a tragedy, the tv companies obviously know they need to at least get some survivors we can laugh at and feel better again.
Remember behind every tragic moment is a great little bit of comedy just ideal for a 30 second slot :)

I feel cheated. Other natural disaster survivors get serious coverage on the news channels. We got nothing.

Ah well, if you were fat and funny looking you may have been interviewed.
I heard Rhun was actually a studio guest on the Welsh local news :D

Re: Were any you Brits hit by quake on Wednesday?
Earthquakes scare the shit outta me. Ever since I was a kid it has been drummed into my head by scientists, the gov't, school officials etc. that a catastrophic earthquake is going to strike where I live. If all goes according to plan, pretty much everyone here is fucked. Should be a good time.

lmao. I'm actually planning on leaving as soon as I complete school. Transfering schools inter-provincially is a bitch. The 3 million other who live around here also don't seem to think its a big enough deal to constitute moving. Also, I live in one of the few parts of Canada that is not an icy wasteland in the winter and a swelting, mosquito-filled furnace in the summer. If it wasn't for the threat of imminent death and my own paranoia, it would be paradise.

The entire west coast is pretty much a hot-bed of earthquake activity, maybe they should've headed for the interior of the continent. The problem, in regards to earthquakes, here is that two plates are pushing up against one another, creating all kinds of pressure and tension, so the longer we go without getting an earthquake, the more violent and destructive it will be when it finally strikes.
My ancestors probably should have just stayed in England, Ireland, Germany, and wherever the fuck else they hailed from.

Yeah but just think if everybody decided to that we'd be a completely overcrowded cess pit of human cattle, herded into tiny blocks, sky high to fit us all in.
The sheer weight of human mass would probably be so great that poor little old England would probably collapse in on itself and sink into the ground taking us all with it down to the depths of hell.
Best you guys went and left us in a nice cheery, safe and comfortable little land.

Yeah, I'm amazed it didn't sink after we sent all that equipment and all those troops over there to fight the Nazi's for you. :D

Lol although we had pretty much stripped our land bare in that war. Any men over 16 and under 75 were out fighting the Germans. And when we had run out of weapons and tanks we were sending out anything made of metal to fight the Nazi's with.
Pots, pans, garden equipment, tables, bathtubs and sinks. All of it was being launched south across the sea. We were making vegetable bombs and hurling cattle across the channel, whilst you guys were taking a leisurely breakfast.

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters. <-- That's the one part of the new forum I can't stand.

until i heard man across the road shouting

haha hehehe lol err no. We get wind gusts.
Kite flying weather is about as dramatic as it gets for us.
What's funny though is how under prepared we are for any natural weather disasters.
A couple days of rain and a Welsh village will get completely wiped out.
Every autumn trains get delayed and sometimes even cancelled because of leaves on the track.
Two or more consecutive days of sunshine and we have national hose pipe bans and have to share baths.
A night of snow will grind any UK city to a halt forcing schools, businesses and even hosptitals to close.
If we had your weather for just one month I think that would be enough to completely destroy the entire UK infrastructure and you Americans would have to come over and save us.
We are the worst nation at coping with bad weather in the world.
