Great news!
The Kessler team came back to the table and everyone has agreed to the important numbers. Showtime will pick this up for a May 10 fight.
A great fight for us fans and a win win situation for the fighters.
I couldnt be happier! I hope my boy can prove his weight at 160lbs was an issue and he is gonna back bigtime at 168lbs.
I really hope this fight happens, unlike Mundine Kessler is prepared to take a risk by fighting someone like Miranda. This will be a good fight!
Never thought Kessler was scared! Great news that it maybe on! I think Miranda is in trouble here! Kessler has nearly every advantage IMO
Good style match-up, hmm right now I'm picking Pantera because I don't think Kessler has enough pop to stop the assault.He could have had the hand problems, I don't remember what happened with that but he didn't look like he was gonna stop Joe with that right. Could be another Andrade type of fight though for Kessler, completely outboxing him.
Although I think Miranda loses, I will be hoping he wins.
A trash talking, exciting, power punching cat! You gotta cheer for him. Sure he is not that skilled, but who cares! ;D
2008 is keeping pace with 2007. Some great fights being put together.
I am a big fan of Edison but IMO this is a bad move on behalf of his camp...Miranda still needs a lot of adjustments before he fights guys like Kessler...Power alone is not enough
It's going to be a long night for Miranda. Kessler is going to punish him

I read on another boxing forum that a Danish Newspaper said the fight was being negotiated and close to happening. I am Not sure if that news was older than the clipping you just posted or not though.Quote:

If this fight comes together, Kessler is going to punish Miranda. Too much skill and too much speed. Pavlik's was able to hit Miranda almost at will and unless Edison's defense has improved exponentially this could get very ugly.
I hate it when two fighters I really like fight one another.

Miranda licked his wounds and is right back wanting to mix it up. That is the heart of a lion and win or lose, he is a true warrior just because he is willing to fight anyone. With so many out there playing it safe by carefully selecting opponents, protecting their records in an attempt to earn future paychecks, Miranda is a breath of fresh air.
Kessler never fought great opposition either until Calzaghe IMO. Miranda is a style he has never faced before and it should be interesting. Even though Miranda will most likely get out boxed, he will get his licks in and go down swinging. He will also test Kessler's chin.

This is a fight that should be made. Any Miranda fight is exciting, but if you add the focused, intimidating Kessler you have the potential for a great great fight.
Fair play to Kessler if this comes off, thats a very stiff comback test.
I like Miranda but in the same way I like Mayorga, I like watching him get beat up.

Miranda probably thinks this is a good time to fight Kess. Fair play to the guy, he calls out all the big names and genuinely want s to fight them, he losses this on though.
I feel that after the loss to Calzaghe a new factor will become apparent with Kessler.
He has the power he has the size and to some extent the boxing ability.
But now I feel Kessler is going to become a much better fighter after the education he got from Calzaghe. I see his movement, rhythm and defense improving and an improvement of that magnitude could make Kessler a very dangerous fighter for the future.
I couldn't under stand why Mikkel rejected the fight originally, but if it was a bargaining ploy, then now it makes sense.Quote:

This is funny. Edison Miranda is like junk food. No good, but you love it anyway. He's calling fighters out because that's the only real way he's going to get $$$. He's a Ricardo Mayorga without the boxing skill and he's going to be chased right back into his home country for more club fights. He won't beat Taylor, Green, Jones, Kessler, Hanshaw or any other elite SMW. All you have to be able to do is get out of the way of a haymaker and Miranda is SOLVED. People ONLY mention the Pavlik TKO and all but think back and watch the fight and see how much Miranda landed and connected.....
Miranda is a favorite of mine but he does not have the technical skill to outbox Kessler nor do I think he could land with enough regularity to get Mikkel out of there... Kessler is just to technically soumd:cool:
The smart pick would probably be kessler but with a guy who can hit as hard as edison anything is possible. His skills are getting a tad better and that just slightly increases the chances of miranda landing some hard clean shots. Don't get me wrong miranda can be out boxed by almost anyone, just the more experience miranda gains the more dangerous he becomes for anyone. Either way this fight will be great.....now if we could just get miranda to teach witter what to say to get hatton to the table, his mouth sure got kesslers attention quick.
Exactly!. He will test Kessler. Miranda has underrated reach and he will find Kessler's chin. Miranda can get sneaky shots in and Kessler, from what I have seen from him, pulls straight back often.Quote:

I think this will be a closer fight than many expect. I remember Miranda landing some absolute gems on Pavlik.

Does Kessler have the same level of determination and heart as Pavlik? Can he absorb the shots just like Pavlik did? And can he fire back with enough power and intensity as Pavlik did?
I think a lot on here just remember him being ko'd but the fight was very close. Pavlik's chin and heart kept him in that fight.
There is a chance Kessler can dominate with straight punches. But there is also a chance that he could unravel if he's hurt. Nobody has ever seen him in a situation like that.....so it could be very interesting.
I agree with what you say. People here are making it seem like Miranda will just stand there and get outboxed like Mirandas gonna be armless and wont be throwing back. I'll say this if Joe rocked Mikkel then imagine what a shot from Miranda could possibly do?Quote:

I just sent Pantera a message on myspace and here is what he says:
"We are waiting on an answer from his team".
Kessler won't be able to push Miranda backwards like Pavlik did. Pantera can pull it off if he doesn't take alot of right hands flush.
