Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
I didn't get to watch the full fight at first so when almost every non-pac-fans were saying Marquez won, even some pinoy fools - ya let me call 'em fools coz they deserve it - I believed them and so I kept my silence. I even congratulated El Gamo on PM. What a fool I've been, I'm ashamed of myself for betraying my boy so I'm here to repay my boy for the injustice. You guys know I usually don't stick out my neck here that much. But for this one, I have to and I'm glad to do so. Now don't call me biased because I've alway maintained Marquez won the first fight in this forum. The rematch was nothing like that. When my pal ICB scored only 1 point in favor of Marquez, I became a bit suspicious. So today, when the local tv replayed the rematch and I decided to take a serious look at the fight. I was totally shocked, where was the the great outboxing by Marquez. Many of the shots were actually hitting gloves or just barely grazed the boxers, so much for the dumbu-box - I knew better than to trust those compu stuffs. Many rounds where to close to call. I saw Marquez winning only 4 solid rounds, while I had pac winning 5 solid rounds including the 3rd. Anybody who sez Marquez was winning the fight is a ........never mind. Even Marquez himself knew this cuz he came back very desperately strong on the 12th as if it was a do or die round for him, and though he won that round, pac was still able to repulse his assault - whoever said pac was saved by the bell. So much for the claim of Marquez victory, and compubox.
So let's see if there indeed will be a rematch, and if ever, who'll win the next. I can't wait. By the way, please don't give me any more craps, I won't buy it.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
Ok my friend here is my scorecard again for you.
1 Pacquiao 10-9
2 Marquez 10-9
3 Pacquiao 10-8
4 Pacquiao 10-9
5 Marquez 10-9
6 Marquez 10-9
7 Marquez 10-9
8 Marquez 10-9
9 Pacquiao 10-9
10 Pacquiao 10-9
11 Marquez 10-9
12 Marquez 10-9
114-113 Marquez
The 1st round was close and could of gone either way as i remember it, also the 7th and 9th were close and could of gone either way if i remember right. Other than that i think the rounds were pretty clear cut. I think it was a razor thin close fight but even though it was close i think Marquez deserved the fight based on winning the last 2 rounds clearly IMO anyway.

At least I know you're sincere, ICB. But just a point for Marquez? hmmm, that's measly.

Like i said to the other Pacquiao fans im not annoyed at all my boy Marquez done excellent and exchanged more than i thought. He done the exact tactics i thought he would be circling Pacquiao trying to take away his left hand, leading with straight right hands and etc. You have to admire Pacquiao because he is amazing athlete and a hell of a fighter to watch. But sorry to say this but i think Pacquiao should be 0-2 against Marquez. Just a damn shame Marquez gets knocked down against Pacquiao and makes it closer than it should be. Take away knockdowns in the 1st fight its clear cut win for Marquez and ditto for the rematch. Its just so frustrating to watch as a Marquez fan that he can beat Pacquiao but he always gets caught and makes it a lot closer than it should be. Great fight though it was better than i expected.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
I had it a two point fight for Marquez, you can look at Pac's aggression, power and the KD &/or you can look at the counter punching and sharp shots by Marquez. All in all it was a nip & tuck fight well contested and Both guys showed true courage and pride ,This is one where the lines are drawn so deep in the sand that minds are made up and no one will be convinced the other way.
Watch the replay tonight On HBO,Undercard of Casamayor Vs. Katsidis.I really hope this place does not get as trivial and as nasty as it did last Sat. Night

No problem disagreeing as long as it's done like a bunch of grown-up's. So far so good huh. There is one unwritten rule in boxing which goes like this: if you wanna know who's winning, look who comes strong on the 12th and he's the guy who's behind (in points, or at least he believes so). Reminds me of someone.;D One thing I noticed, if pac boxed around like a fool - just like SRL - he was pretty good 'cause Marquez had hard time catching him. I hope he does that more often. But I guess it's not his style.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
Jmm needed a knock out to win the fight coming into the 12, or alteast a knockdown to make it a draw. he was despret but he came up short. Even jim said it coming into the 12, jmm may need a knock out to win.
Notice Jmm slow down by the 10th, he had a big 8 round that took more out of him then pac.
Pac block most of jmms punches with his gloves, there was no outboxing pac. Even steward said it, you can't outbox pac you have to fight him.
Note both jim and steward said this during the fight.
This fight was close only because pac fought jmms fight. Pac has now beaten mab in his own perfered fight and he has also beaten jmm in his own countering style. Look at the third round, that punch pac landed was a counter punch. PERFECT FUCKING PUNCH, so give my boy credit. For a dubbed masterful counter puncher. JMM himself has never landed a beautiful counter like that. LOOK at the tenth round, only 20 some seconds into that round, pac again lands a beautiful fcking counter left hook, it nearly sends jmm across the pacific.
Jmm did well but pac has adapted his no longer just a brawler, his boxing and countering is underrated.
Only reason people say pac lost is because the standard for a pac victory is a k.o. Jmm didn't get ko'ed but look at his face, from his forehead to his upper lip his whole face is swollen. Pac only suffered from one eye which was crucial. It was first cause from the mutual headbutt, at first it seem jmm suffered worst but later jmm targetted that cut to worsen it. Pac also spread jmm cuts, both battered eachothers cut well. Great fight but jmm came up short. Pac settles and does not go out to destroys, he prefers to fight these guys fights now. His countering and boxing is underrated. As long as pac does not win via k.o its a lost in the eyes of the blinds. They should be proud jmm was in a close fight and pac didn't blaze him out of the ring. He could of finish jmm in the fourth right after jmm was stunned twice or thrice. Pacs extra 16 pounds after the weight in is also slowing him down. When he moves up to 135 i hope to see the vicious side of pac again.
Believe me pac is p4p great, so is Jmm but pac did not lose to jmm. If anything jmm should retire and live with this lost, atleast he can brag about not being stopped by pac unlike the other two. His really asking for it if he moves up to 135 just to fight pac again. Maybe its just for another million pac can get him.

pacs boxing and countering is underrated, the only thing horrible about pac is his balance sometimes but then again sometimes his balance is awesome. your right its not pacs style but yet his good at it.
like i said the standard for a pac victory is via ko. anything less gives others something to say. They just ain't use to this new way of pac. He settles, i don't like it either but fighting an elite like jmm and its still enough for a W, well credit is due to two. both guys are great, close fight great night. history has been written pac won.

Yup, julius, I may not agree with Manny Steward sometimes, but when it comes to boxing in pure sense, I usually agree. That's on record cuz I've seen many threads here criticizing him but my usual reply there is, 'I'll pick M. Steward anytime over any kids here who claims to know boxing better than him.';)

Which just proves what I've been saying here all along, that pac can outbox Marquez. You see, Marquez can only counter when he's being attacked, but once he's being danced around by his opponent, he has hard time catching him cuz he's not used to chasing his opponents... Naw, I'll take it back, I don't want to start a riot here. We'll keep it cool.
By the way julius, I sent you a PM right after the fight but it came back.. but never mind, it's doesn't matter now.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
Jmm can counter but outboxing pac is different story.
Jmm is like a cat, pac pokes at him he just tries to scratch his way out of there. It was kinda funny :D

I remember one of the commentators (Lampley or Stewart) said in round 10, "JMM needs a KO to win".

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
By watching the fight over and over and over again,... I had it one point for the Pacman. Simply because he was the aggressor through out the fight. JMM thought he can just simply throw pot shots all night from a safe distance and still win, if that was with a lesser fighter, yes the strategy would have worked, but JMM must have forgotten that it was Manny Pacquaio who he was throwing pot shots at. Pacquiao is the draw and therefore in the judges' eyes is the one to beat. If Marquez did something drastic to change to make the judges change their minds, he would have gotten the nod.
Pacman inflicted the more telling blows, and more damage throughout the fight. That was obvious in the 3rd and 10th rounds. Sure JMM staggered Pac once, but similar to what Julius said - Marquez had a lot of connects, but they were more ‘slaps’ as compared to Pacman’s more solid shots. That’s how 2 out of 3 of the judges saw it and that’s how they scored it. In my humble opinion, Pacman won the fight.

I know the answer ;)...
...Coz they both know the older Marquez lost fairly.

I think he's adding the incident where JMM in trouble and holding on the rope. Just like Pac knocked down Barrera but ref Lawrence Cole called it a slip.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
Pacquiao starts training in April
Manila Bulletin Online
By Nick Giongco
SAN FRANCISCO — Manny Pacquiao plans to report back for training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood in the last week of April in preparation for a June 28 fight being lined up by Top Rank.
Pacquiao told the Bulletin on Friday that he is looking forward to returning to action after his razor-thin split decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez last week in Las Vegas after he takes care of the backlog in his studies at Notre Dame in General Santos City.
The 29-year-old Pacquiao is enrolled there taking up management.
"I have to attend to my studies first then head back to the Wild Card," said Pacquiao, who now holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-featherweight crown after his win over Marquez.
Pacquiao left behind two months worth of studies when he started training for Marquez in mid-January.
Although Top Rank has already penciled a date for Pacquiao, the choice of opponent is still up in the air according to the boxer even if Bob Arum, the man who calls the shots for the Las Vegas-based promotional outfit, has spoken about Pacquiao facing WBC lightweight king David Diaz at Mandalay Bay.
"Everything is still under negotiations," said Pacquiao, who leaves for Manila on Saturday night. A victory parade awaits him when he sets foot in the Philippines on Monday morning.
As this developed, Pacquiao had the stitches on his right eyebrow removed also on Friday, almost a week after Marquez opened that ghastly wound with a right straight in the eighth round of their 12-round brawl.
Pacquiao had to wear dark glasses to hid the hideous wound when he faced the media during the post-fight press conference and he wore that in the days that followed.
"I am doing fine now, my eye is no longer closed," said Pacquiao from his apartment unit at The Palazzo in trendy La Brea area.
For the Marquez bout, Pacquiao trained for eight solid weeks and he is keen in doing the same in his next fight regardless of who the opponent will be.
After the June bout, Pacquiao plans to see action one more time in November ( Manny Pacquiao - Oscar De La Hoya In November? ).
Pacquiao will be joined in the trip back to the Philippines by wife Jinkee and close family members as well as two of his trainers and friends and supporters.

WTF? Pacquiao-ODLH in November? I smell bullsh1t.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
I actually just watched Pacquiao vs Marquez (their first fight) three times within the week and the first time I watched it, I had it a draw, the second time, I had Marquez eeking out a split decision, and the last time I watched it, I had Pacquiao barely surviving. I don't know if there is something wrong with me or if the fight was that hard to choose!
Pacquiao vs Marquez II is about to be re-broadcasted on HBO so i'll post my scorecard of that fight as soon as the whole boxing evening ends (Katsidis vs Casamayor too!). On the night of the fight, I had Pacquiao winning 114-113.
Hope everyone is tuning in to Kats vs Casa! Hopefully will be a good one!

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
115-112 Marquez, i must be a.......nevermind. Pac looked uncomfortable with Marquez and had no answer to his right hand, aside from the the 3rd round it was a solid performance from Marquez. Put it this way i don't think it was a robbery and it was a close fight, i just gave those close rounds to Marquez.
No bias from me here as i selected Pacquaio by KO 9 pre fight! I don't think Pacquaio wants to fight him again, he may be forced to.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
I just watched the fight for the first time and I thought Pac took it by a few rounds. The knock down was just gravy. I thought his aggression in the early rounds, solid connects and ability to block a lot of Marquez's punches through out the fight won him the fight. I'm a fan of both fighters equally. This is just the way I saw it.

4 times not 5.
I think he's adding the incident where JMM in trouble and holding on the rope. Just like Pac knocked down Barrera but ref Lawrence Cole called it a slip.
Well thats stupid because ref did not call it a knockdown, and i didn't think it was a knockdown anyway. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks the ref's decision is final and officially its 4 knockdowns end of.

I've just read this thread and Pacfan... thank you for your honesty. I scored it 114-113 for PAcquaio. Same score with ICB except the 11th round. I gave it to PAcquaio.
Definitely, there was no robbery nor gift decision in this fight. PAcquaio deserved the win, IMO.

Re: Can't Believe It! Everyone sez Marquez Won & I Believed, Shame on Me!
The fight should have been a draw again, after rewatching the fight, my biggest issue is the sixth round where 2 judges give what should have been Marquez' round to Pacquiao. One of those judges is the replacement judge that was like a week before the fight, and that judge scored it 1 point win for Manny....thnigs that make you go hmmm. Another thing is it looked like in the 12th they left that string thing in Marquez' eye just covered it with vaseline? The reason I say this is the huge hole in his eye looked like it wasn't as red when he came out for the 12th.

...Just like the ring officials judged the fight an overall win for Pac. The decision is final. :)

come on ICB. you are better than that. so if you're saying this, then you're also saying that MAB didnt score a KD against jmm coz the ref didnt call it?
