David Haye vs Andrew Golota
I think that would be a perfect follow up fight at Heavyweight for Haye. Golota is a solid vet with power and experience and name appeal
I think a win would propel Haye into the mainstream Heavyweight picture a lot faster

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
I think he could fight any number of those type of HW's and be right in the picture, the division is wide open and there's bound to be a ton of support behind any exciting potential star like Haye.. My doubts lie on whether he would actually be as succesful at the top as many think, but there are certainly a whole slew of guys on about Golota's level waiting to be blasted out in his debut imo.. Honestly I would love it if he fought James Toney... Toney may just get hurt and brutalized but if he has anything left to pull together another half effort he would certainly be a great learning experience for Haye. I doubt he could stop him early, and Haye has shown his stamina can be poor late on. I could almost see another Carl Thompson episode:confused: Maybe I'm just being crazy, I didn't see Toneys last fight but supposedly it was ugly. For the record Haye would have stood absolutely no chance against Toney at his best at HW imo, say when he fought Holyfield. So I don't consider Haye some great saviour, I'd give him a small chance against Wlad at best.

Good test for Haye in HWD.

Yeah Golota looked good last time out but he must be 40 odd by now.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Good post JT; interesting match-up. I see Golota resorting to low blows after about 5 rounds:D
It would open some eyes faster should Haye beat him and beat him decisively IMO.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Golata, Rahman, or Brock. How about Audley Harrision?

Good choices, I think people would pay big money to see Haye finally put Audley out of his misery for good

I see this different.
I see thid as a High Risk, Low Reward fight.
Golota is known but what is he known for?
I don't think this fight makes sense tfor Hayes career.
Hayes not gonna waste time, he want's to go to the top and he want's it now.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
it would be a good test, golota's a big strong experienced heavyweight who on his day can still cause many big truble in spurts
its important haye breaks in against big rangey heavys if hes goner face klitckho at somepoint
-
Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Well Golota is freaking easy to beat if you have enough power. Just jump on him early and he's helpless
-
Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Audley would make sense because it would make $$ in Britain. Brock would make sense because he's very beatable, but still a name and not over the hill. A win against Brock puts him on the map in the US and it will let him test himself against a real heavyweight. If he's that confident, he shouldn't be worried about risk. He should be worried about getting ready for Wlad. He's going to have to wait in line for that one. He should make good use of that wait time to build himself into a real HW and get used to fighting real HWs.
-
Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
If Haye lands one not even clean shot then Golota is getting KNFO.
-
Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Haye should start of with someone easier (and more sane) that Golata in his first fight, someone who is his size like Brock, then move on to the bigger fighters.

Brock isn't fighting for a while.....I think Chambers would be an OK fight. John Ruiz would even be a good fight and get Haye used to someone big using their size on him

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
I've suggested this fight b4 myself. IT would be a great first step at HW. Or back to HW. And honestly I'd see Haye knockin Golota right out in the very 1st round in SPECTACULAR fashion. It'd be sick.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Yes but since everyone figures that will happen then what would everyone think if Golota outboxes and eventually KO's Haye???

He would be EXPOSED at HW then wouldn't he? But I don't think that would ever happen Klithead. lol.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Whilst I think a Golota fight would be entertaining I don't think it would be a good career move for Haye.
Far and away the best opponent for him to face in my mind is Hasim Rahman.
Former world champion, former Lennox Lewis conquerer and importanly probably the most recognisable American heavyweight in the world currently still active, discounting Holyfield of course.
There was a reason that was the fight being considered before Maccerinelli and that is becuase it makes excellent business, commerical and boxing sense for Haye.
Rahman is still one of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing, was a world champ only a couple years ago and is very beatable right now.
If I was Warren I'd be pushing like mad for a Rahman fight in London in the summer Showtime would definitely love to pick this fight up and it would give him some big attention amongst American boxing fans.
If he fought Golota I doubt any major American network would cover it.

I don't know if you are aware, but FRAUDLEY got a spot on the Calzaghe undercard... wouldn't it be sweet if it was against Haye...

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
That wouldn't be a bad test

Brock--is not that small (230's), but outside of his ranking, I wouldn't run to see this fight.
Toney--whoever said the thing about Toney's 'prime' was right. His Robinson-Jirov-Holyfield period was a testament to his greatness. Now he is a testament to his great appetite.
Golata--I agree--high risk, low reward. Did you forget that Bowe couldn't KO this guy? If you think Haye hits like Brewster or LLewis, you are crazy.
Fast Eddie might be his best choice. If not, he should use the HW workhorse... Dominic Guinn. Everyone beats him (except Fraudley).

Lyle, as much as I hate to, I have to agree. THere is the possibility of Golata winning the match, especially if the fight goes long and Golata doesn't self destruct.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Or he could fight Kali Meehan. Can you believe he is #3 in the WBA???

You think so ?? i didn't he couldn't even stop a journeyman fighter like Mollo when he was basically falling over himself with so much exhaustion. Plus Mollo gave Golota more trouble than Golota should of had with someone of Mollo's class.

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Then you missed the point ICB, Golata is a name and a win over him would better his chances and marketibility to get in the thick of things sooner or later

Thats not what i was saying JT he said that Golota looked good against Mollo, and i disagreed. Im not saying that Haye beating Golota wouldn't do him any good, im just saying i didn't think Golota looked that good in his last outing.

I missed the bus on that one:-\

Re: David Haye vs Andrew Golota
Well Holyfield is a NAME too and he's just as old as Golota!
Haye should fight someone younger and more "dangerous" than Golota. They don't really have to be dangerous but the thought has to be there.
Hasim Rahman is a good idea, Shannon Briggs, Danny Williams, James Toney, or Oleg Maskaev....those are all top name AND very beatable for Haye but also kind of dangerous.
