Joe Calzaghe is so small compared to Bernard Hopkins?

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Joe Calzaghe:
Height - 5' 11 1/2"
Reach - 73"
Bernard Hopkins:
Height - 6' 1"
Reach - 75"
-
Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
I dont think Calzaghe is neccessarily small compared to Hopkins. Hopkins does have slight size advantages though. Kessler was pretty big too, didnt matter all that much.
-
Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Kessler is 6ft 1inch, though a shorter reach than Hop, according to H.B.O, Although they do have Joe at a 74inch reach..
I think Joe is looking as strong as hell and in great shape, the best Ive seen him, tho B.Hop too is looking the part, there is a lot being made about Joe not having faced anyone like B.Hop....
Believe me B.Hop has never faced anyone even similar in style or intensity to Joe C...That equally will not be in the slightest bit intimidated....

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
It doesn't really matter body size there pretty much the same and Hopkins height advantage won't play a factor in the fight, because Hopkins will be trying to make the fight on the inside not the outside.
-
Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Calzaghe looks like a teener when standing infront of Hopkins... Even Enzo is amazed of Bernard's size advantage...

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
In all the photos i see Kessler didn't really look like he had a height advantage like Hopkins does over Calzaghe.

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Hopkins is also wearing a pair of air max with a massive chunky sole on them as well. probably puts almost an extra inch on him!

The smaller Joe is somewhat uncomfortable standing beside BIG BERNARD...

How about the trainer advantage? I think this also goes to Bernard... Freddie Roach is much better trainer compared to Enzo Calzaghe...
Coach Roach Promises That Hopkins Will Stop Calzaghe In Later Rounds!

As with any trainer though, Roach is inclined to overstate his fighters abilities. I remember him saying that James Toney could KO Lennox Lewis as well.

Yep, Roach overdo it sometimes... but I still consider Roach the better coach, trainer and cornerman compared to Enzo...
So the advantages are ...
Size: Hopkins
Corner/Coach: Hopkins
Speed: Calzaghe
Age: Calzaghe
Power: Hopkins
Experience: Hopkins
Workrate: Calzaghe
.

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Size advantage is actually to Calzaghe.
He's a fighter that wants to work of activity defensive movement and slips. It pays for him to be sleeker and smaller;)

Corner/Coach: Advantage to Hopkins
.
Yeah I guess so. BTW, do you know the latest vegas odds on this?

I don't have Vegas but British oddsmaker place Hopkins as a 3 to 1 underdog... I'm thinking of putting some real money on B-Hop... The odds is so tempting... ;)

How does Hopkins have the experience advantage?
B-Hop clearly has the experience advantage being 20 years in boxing with a total of 54 fights. Joe has 44 total fights in 15 years...
B-Hop also has the tougher opponents...
-
Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Fight week is great hearing the arguements from both sides in a fight like this is always interesting cause really nobody is wrong or right (except about who's bigger, b-hop definatly is for what it's worth against joe) most opinions here make sense so we'll just have to wait and see, total toss up in my book.

Calzaghe also has a pretty nifty amateur record that you might want to consider.

Ive just noticed in the pic where they are face to face, Bernards heels arent on the floor, he is trying to tiptoe and intimidate Calzaghe with his height;D
He knows hes in deep now and is trying anything, I dont think we will see Bernard be as brave with joe as he was with Wright when he shoved Wright at the weigh in, he knows Joe would whack him;D

Exactly.
There's no experience ADVANTAGE. Both these guys have been fighting their entire lives.. at the very TOP for donkeys years
Hopkins has HOME advantage. Maybe Calzaghe wont handle fighting in Hopkins backyard.. but i doubt it.

That shoving with Winky was a marketing ploy... Hopkin's "I'll never lose to a white boy..." is enough to sell more tickets...

Older guys has the experience advantage... Hopkins is 43 while Joe is 36... Hopkins already experienced everything (i think) but Joe has one thing he hasn't experience yet... that is LOSING a fight...

If those 32 guys had faced B-Hop instead, they will be murdered... Calzaghe's hands right now were already fragile that might prevent him throwing "true" power punches... What Joe throws were mostly pitty pat punches... So I think Hopkins will be throwing the harder punches during the fight...

Hopkins has more life experience because he is older.. doesn't mean he has more boxing experience.
And yeah Joe don't know how to lose.. That's a HUGE advantage in his favour.
Add that to your list.

Dyou think Trinidad would have lasted as long against Joe, or Joppy, or Wright.
Taylor would have been knocked all over the place, didnt Jermain have Bernard floundering all over the place? Pavlik stopped him but Bernard couldnt.
Bernard will be happy to do what he did in the Taylor fight, he will realise he cant keep up early but it wont be like Taylor, Joe will keep the pace up and either Hopkins stays in his shell doing piss all or tries to fight and gets stopped;D

Depends on how you look at it... Sometimes it's a burden to think that there might be a time when your "0" has to go... When you lose already, you're not afraid of losing anymore... no more pressure...
Another thing Joe hasn't experience yet... fighting away from home (aside from one in Germany)... How Joe gonna handle this?
-
Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
Germany is the most notorious place in the world for travelling fighters taking on germans but Joe went there and knocked out someone bigger than Bernard has ever knocked out;D 6,4" and bigger than a middle or ex welter;D

Actually comparing who they have fought is like apples and oranges... I'm just giving the power advantage to Hopkins right now mainly due to Joe's fragile hands...

Nah.. once you KNOW how to lose it's EASIER to lose. It's science.
Joe might not handle Vegas. That's a possible. HOME advantage clearly for Hopkins.

Joe passed that one in Germany (and Denmark) with flying colors... But how will Joe perform in his Las Vegas/American debut?

Re: Photos: Joe Calzaghe is so small?
It looks to me Joe's neck is bigger.I mean come guys does this really mean anything at all.The size of Hopkins that is.
