Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Just out of curiosity seeing how Haye seems to be the flavor of the month and he has been heard on more then one occasion comparing himself to Holyfield..
What do the masses think the outcome would be if Haye faced Evander during his prime?...
Would the Hayemake beat the Real Deal or would Evander be to much for him?....
IMO Holyfield takes him to school before scoring a brutal KO....
anyone else?

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Haye has done nothing to make me think that he would be competitive against Holyfield.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Evander all day and twice on Sunday.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
If this is Haye's prime....well I see a Prime Holyfield smothering him, headbutting him, and wearing him out physically while beating him from pillar to post.
Holyfield by TKO 8
Haye seems to be like if the light heavyweight version of Michael Moorer came to heavyweight only this time, right handed. Haye has power and handspeed maybe add a little Roy Jones Jr. in there as well....he likes the positive attention of the fans.
I don't think he has it mentally and psychologically to beat Wladimir seeing what i have seen of him. He's got a bad attitude and talent but there is something missing in him....maybe I am just jaded from seeing Audley Harrison after he was so built up

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Has Haye even reached his prime yet?? Have'nt seen enough of Holyfield at CW 2 make the call, but just going by the post title, nobody can make the call!
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Can I see Haye going 15 brutal rounds in his 12th fight??Holyfield dropped,Badly wobbled or gased At Prime Cruiser...Thinking...No.I think Holyfield could handle Hayes speed and right hand Power and methodically break him down for a late TKO.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield usually negated speed and/or power by his style of offense which lest anyone forget was at times very ugly to watch...always tying up and working to try and get his hands in position so he could reel off some combination punches.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
I always wondered how Holyfield would have done vs Morrison, Ruddock, and Golota and maybe even how would he have done had he not headbutted Rahman.

Good call on the combos. That purpectual "Hop" & slide would set up those combo burst's.Imo he has always had a pretty under rated Left hook.Did not Ko many with it but Buzzed alot of Guys bigtime.
Oh yeah....with or with out the Headbutt and the small third shoulder growing on Rahmans forehead....Holyfield would have taken a W.12 ;D

He was kicking Rahman's butt when the headbutt occured. I would have loved to have seen him against any of those guys in his prime. He was a notch above them all.

I think he and Bowe basically ruined each other with Bowe getting the far much worse of their trilogy. Bowe won 2 out of 3, but was finished as a fighter afterwards. Holyfield lost much of what he had, but soldiered on.
You saw both of their primes arrive and get taken away in that short span.
Holyfield gets a solid top 5 spot in greatest heavy's to ever lace up the gloves. Many will disagree with me, but he was an incredible athlete with incredible heart.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Oh yeah I totally agree with you, I am just saying Morrison and Ruddock had a bit more pop behind their punches and had they hurt him the way Cooper hurt him it would be goodnight sweetheart.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield would win. Haye would look good for a few rounds, but once he figures out he can't hurt Holyfield,Holy makes it look ugly and brutal in the second half, and kos him.

Bid Daddy in my opinion hit harder than Morrison. Ruddock hit really hard, but was not able to put punches together like Bowe.
Both great matchups.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield makes Haye corner throw in the towel by the 5th round
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Prime hell!!!! I don't think Haye can stop EH now.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield is prolly the all-time dirtiest fighter.
It's a hard one to predict cuz Haye hasn't even fought in HWD yet.

Bit of over statement Bro .Holyfield got ruff N tumble And Heated but Not exactly Ad Wolgast In the ring?;D
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Hoylfield very early imo - Haye doesn't belong in the same ring!!!
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield wears him down by the second half of the fight and finshes him off, I'd put my house on it.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Doubt any heavyweight currently boxing would of been able to live with evander in his prime.
Too wily, too heavy handed, too physical for any of the current batch to deal with.
Bit hard to answer this question with david haye as nobody really knows whats to come from haye over the next few years, the guy could quite easily blow away all opposition and go down as one of the all time greats!!
But if i were a betting man and evander was 10 years younger id put a very large wager on him having way too much for haye or anybody in this division.............including wlad!!
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield was something speciel even as an Amatuer in the Olympics I thought he was terriffic unlucky not to win Gold. As a pro I knew he would make it. Haye I wouldnt put in the same town never mind Ring ;D

Rep to all for their insight and opp's...If I missed you means I need spread some more around and will catch you in a bit
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
evander holyfield would beat him at crusier and heavy, the real deals the best cruiserweight ever and one of the best heavys ever as well. holyfield by stoppage 6th, i like haye but thinks he's breathing clounds when compairing himself to holyfield............... evanders the better boxer and nowhere near as arrogant
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Bit of a silly thread to be honest
There should be no doubt in anyones mind what the outcome would be. Its too inane to even attempt to justify the contrary
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield would absolutely murder Haye imo, it would be a beat down.
Haye would crumble mentally within the first 3 rounds and then be destroyed physically by about round 5 or 6.
He'd never be the same fighter again.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
holyfield mid round stoppage
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Since this is all speculation and opinion - Holyfield would hurt Haye badly. He was one of the great fighters of our generation, an incredible athlete, and an equally incredible human being.
Holyfield by brutal beatdown - and he would probably pay for Haye's hospital bills afterwards.

IMO Holyfield takes him to school before scoring a brutal KO....
anyone else?
Before answering I'd like to ask....
When is Hayes prime?
Is he in it now?
Has it passed?
Has he not even reached his prime?
We know Holys prime and we know him at his best. Have we seen the best of Haye or is it yet to come?

If Haye is or is not in his prime right now really matters none...He had made comments on several occassions and had compared himself to Holyfield on several occassions...Actually he had directed toward himself being a level above Holyfield at the same stages in their careers...Just to be fair I went with prime...A fighters prime can last for different lengths...some 1 year other 5 etc...
Also tried to give some leeway that Haye is not as arrogant enough (Though you never know) to actually think that he is better then Holyfield at this point of the game and he has yet to peak:-\...As Holyfield enterd the HW division he was at the start of his prime....thats how the whole prime vs prime came about

So it's a prime Holy vs. Todays Haye.
Holy by TKO. :)

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
You bring up an interesting topic when is a fighter at his peak. Take Archie Moore was it when he was loosing to Marciano. Or when Charles Burley and the likes were beating him. If you were listening to Archie it was the latter.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Not too long ago Haye was an overrated, chinny, no stamina, beat by 50 year olds shit cunt.
Now he has fans asking how he matches up with a prime Holyfield. Bet that would make him feel proud
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Holyfield looked a beast at cruiser and thats when he came on my radar, I remember him taking quite a few shots on the way but he always dug in and fired back the Bowe fights at heavy had me on the edge of my seat all fight long. Thought he lost a bit of every thing after those wars with Bowe as for compairng him with Haye with both at cruiser IMO it would be an exciting fight while it lasted 70 - 30 in favour of Holyfield. If they faught today Haye would cream him inside 5 rounds. Holyfields a legend who should hang em up, his got loads and loads of cash be nice to have a brain so he can spend it.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Haye has yet to hit his peak, you would hope.
Holyfield at Cruiser was the best fighter around ever, excluding the great smaller heavyweight like Rocky and Patterson. And even then you could make an argument.
Peak Holyfield? Was it when he first became champion, the he was up there with the greats but could be beaten as Bowe showed. Was it when he beat Tyson and unified against Moorer, he was a lot bigger but slower and could be beat as Lewis showed.

Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
I like Haye a lot, but he ain't no Evander Holyfield. Case closed.
-
Re: Holyfield/Haye prime for prime...
Anybody whose been in this game 7 years and hasnt peaked isnt going to ;D
