Curling is huge in Canada (so is weed, so maybe there's a correlation). They held some sort of championships here a little while ago and thousands of people packed the arena for days to watch it. I don't know much about it, but it's boring as hell to watch and I imagine it's very difficult.

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
Boxing I don't like to watch stoned because I tend to gloss over and I don't look at the technical things so much. Am easily impressed, so I don't like that. But I will still do it occasionally on a Saturday night if I'm coming home to download of course I'm going to watch it. But boxing isn't my favorite.
Basketball is GREAT. I just wish they changed cameras in basketball and had a sky view somehow. I would love that. Basketball is played out a lot differently then boxing when you watch it, it's not about placing a punch it's about finding a lane. And I LOVE that, because I can see lines like a champ when I'm stoned and I have a greater understanding of the game that away. I can see it like I'm on the court and I love it. I can pick it apart just like I do boxing because I see every single lane, rotation, zone ect. Sober I tend to get in football mode which is hard for me to break down technically without stats.
Basketball is great and I play better stoned too. Last time I played I smoked a blunt and played 6 hours until like 11:30 of 5 on 5 under the lights, never came off the court once. Only lost a few and got subbed in on every other game. Half the players in the NBA play high. I don't think it really hampers you.

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
No you are all wrong, it's basketball. Basketball is the sport for high people. If you ever play it stoned you will know what I'm talking about. Amazing game. And watching it is the same. Watching the Jazz on a good day makes me happy honestly because it's like watching a boxer that is technically perfect like Lamont Peterson. I like the Jazz I always have except when they knocked my Warriors out of the playoffs. They play basketball great, great cuts off the ball and one of the better motion offenses of all time.
But off that. Basketball is amazing and so many people don't realize the diversity of it. Compare the Warriors to the Spurs or the Suns from a couple years ago with Joe Johnson to the Pistons. You watch them play and it's such different brands of basketball. Well first of all, the Spurs play basketball like it's hockey and there is an offsides line. Almost all of their offense is out of the half court set. That's why people don't like the Spurs because it's not interesting when the ball gets slowed down every single it time it passes half court. But at the same time, there is a great skill involved in all of it because that means they have to be extremely efficient on the offensive end while still committing to defense on the other end. They are like a good hockey team that doesn't need to rely on the powerplay. Anything the Spurs get on the break is a bonus.
But then you look at the Warriors and the Suns from a couple years ago, it is up and down, up and down, up and down especially the Warriors. It's like they are playing different sports.
I miss the Warriors  Those back to back games with the Lakers were GREAT, my two favorite games of the season and the Nuggets ruined a rematch in the playoffs. Fuck the Nuggets. Three great games with the third ruined by Bob Delaney >:mad

its like it just keeps starting over again..Lol..

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
Pistol Pete had moves at LSU that most would still kill for today. Rafer Alston pulled that fake behind the back agaisnt the Knicks and everyone went crazy because it was Skip To My Lou. Marovich pulled controlled the break with better ball handling skills then anyone in history. I would kill to see him play in college today.
But today's game of basketball is great. I know everyone has affection for the old school but the players today are so ridiculously good that it's not even funny. Look at Joe Johnson in Atlanta, he has been electric these playoffs and imagine if Pheonix had him, he looks like one of the best players in the game. I know Paul and Howard get the headlines but Johnson is right there in the break out star category.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vhGeQWOHwHQCheck out those drives to the lane, he is slicing through the defense in the paint with 4 other guys against the best defensive team in basketball and he's tearing them up. I don't know why they don't run more isos with Johnson because there is no single player that can guard him if he has that mid range jumpshot working. Hopefully tonight they will cut out the high ball screens that just don't work versus Boston because they can defend from the inside out and give him the top of the court to himself, spread it out watch him work his magic. And check out that crossover, nasty.
And of course Lebron James the must watch of all must watches in the sports world. When he puts his mind to it, his shoulder down going to the rim he is one of the greatest players ever to step on a court. And pair that with the fact that he can dribble short and hit a jumper from anywhere over anyone is ridiculous. Kobe is the best player in the game but when he is in the zone, nobody is better or more exciting then Lebron.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=d1Px-jPm_TU
That was the single greatest take over I have ever seen in any sport. Had to get a broom and dustpan to pick my jaw up off the floor when he decided to do that. Unbelievable I wish I could transcribe that commentary onto my fist and plant it on the nose of Skip Bayless who talks down on Lebron every chance he gets.

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
Oh there are great players today but I just can't follow the NBA anymore....it's not the same without Jordan, Barkley, Malone, Bird, Johnson, etc.
It's said that after someone tracked Marovich's shots and he averaged 44.5 points a game for 3 years at LSU well that was without a 3-point line and if he had one he would have averaged 57 points a game because they say he averaged 12 made FG's from 3-point distance

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
While those players had star power and personality, I think the talent pool is constantly getting better in the NBA and I'd say the level at which the game is being played now is greater then it was in the 80's or 90's. And I've tried to watch as much basketball from the past as I can, even downloaded the entire 70 win Chicago Bulls season recently and watched almost all of it.
I think Lebron, Kobe, Garnett, Paul, Howard, Nash, Dirk, Derron Williams, McGrady, Baron ect. I would pit that against any talent pool and take my chances. Maybe not the dominating star power of the Showtime Lakers or the Bad Boys but a great era right now no doubt.
But the point guard is a timeless position in sports and most every great point guard in the history of the sport will have been a great point guard in no matter what era they played. There are some great Pistol Pete documentaries out there.

The 1992 ORIGINAL Dream Team is the greatest team ever created in the history of SPORT....not just basketball but SPORT...it doesn't matter what sport it's just the greatest talent ever assembled it was like the freaking Justice League of sport
Coach: Chuck Daly of the Detroit Pistons[8]
The only players not named on the NBA's 50 Greatest list were Laettner and Mullin.
The closest game they had was 117-85 vs Croatia.
-
Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
OK, now the Dream Team was amazing for a couple reasons. Firstly, international basketball was at nowhere near the level of the USA and most professional European players didn't compete. They had no competition but were the greatest team ever assembled imo.
However, when you look at all those players individually and they by no means blow away the talent there is today. Take the Dream Team, and tell me they are more talented then any players of today. Off talent not accomplishments, I think today stacks up just as well.
At power forward, I would take Garnett over Barkley. Better defensively, grabs just as many rebounds and scores more with range all the way back to the three point line.
Bird I will give you there is no better shot ever in basketball and at the 3 spot there is no better spot shooter in the NBA today. Give him a spot to the court, he'll stop on it and make a shot. Nobody in basketball possesses that today.
Drexler, Lebron. It's a simple choice, Lebron is essentially Clyde Drexler they are the same build at the 2 guard but obviously the advantage is Lebron. He could be the most talented player in the history of basketball. Go a little deeper, Tracy McGrady has to be mentioned as greater also.
Dwight Howard at center is going to be one of the best centers in the history of basketball imo and in the same breath as Ewing in terms of accomplishments. The most athletic center there has ever been along with Stoudamire. Garnett played center sometimes in Minnesota and was in the breath to.
Magic and Michael, Kobe and Lebron. It's like splitting hairs really. All are clearly the best players on the court at all times, all are just so far head and shoulders above the rest that it's hard to compare. Obviously Magic and Michael accomplished quadruple what both of these two combined have done but they both have time. I would love to see this 2 on 2, it's splitting hairs though they are maybe the 4 best players in the history of basketball in terms of talent at the shooting guard position with both Magic and Lebron essentially running their teams point guard position. Not as much for Lebron but he might as well be the teams point guard and pretty much is in the playoffs.
After that, look at the great point guards today Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, Tony Parker all are great. I would take Paul over any point guard in NBA history if I had to pick them as rookies.

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
amat, we're talking about Jordan in his PRIME...Malone in his PRIME...Barkley in his PRIME. Johnson and Bird were the only older guys out there and they were still great players even then.
I'll give it to you Howard, Paul, Nash, Davis....those guys are all going to be great BUT bar Lattner and Mullin all of Team USA was in the NBA's top 50 players of all time....that is ridiculous.
Sure the international basketball wasn't as good as it is today but dude it wouldn't have mattered because all those guys knew how to win AS A TEAM and that's where the NBA today falls short. Do you think Jordan couldn't have dropped 80 on the Raptors??? I know for damn sure he could have done that but he was a TEAM player and it wasn't always all about him.
Plus those guys were bad ass....Charles Barkley elbowing some guy from another team in the chest while USA is up by like 50 points....they weren't just going to win, they were going to make those other teams look as bad as possible.
Karl Malone and Charles Barkley aside from Kevin McHale are probably the best power forwards to ever play the game. I will say that KG seems to have SOME of the attitude that Chuck played with.
And they ALL could play defense

Hey Mullin should be a hall of famer I wouldn't say bar Mullin. And I know that team is great but you can't convince me that Jordan was anymore talented in his prime then Kobe or Lebron are. He accomplished more and had some strengths where they have weaknesses and likewise but the talent level in the NBA is what I'm talking about. Of course they haven't accomplished what those guys did but match up with them talent wise. And I'm talking about the NBA.
I agree about them not being able to play as a team but I blame that on Larry Brown, I think under Coach K and 2 years together that the Olympic team this year will take gold in a very competitive games.
And Kobe had to go for 81 because last year the Lakers sucked. Plain and simple, they were Kobe Bryant with a fourth or fifth scoring option. No help for Kobe on that team last year and when he got help we now see the unselfish play and the more confidence in his teammates. I remember watching a Lakers game last year and it was early in the year and I knew the Lakers would be in trouble if Kobe had to kick out to Jordan Farmar all year.
-
Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
We'll just have to agree to disagree....the Dream Team was the greatest team ever put together.
Here's what I would put out for the Olympics:
C: Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Chris Bosh
PF: Elton Brand, Amare Stoudamire
SF: Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony
SG: Kobe Bryant, Michael Redd, Dwayne Wade
PG: Chris Paul, Deron Williams

Probably college football, huge Alabama fan and I get a bit too tense and angry during the games. Even had a period where I thought the team's performance was influenced by whether I was sitting down or standing up. :-\ It seemed to work for a while.
So its best that I relax a bit more so that helps.

Also amat, Marvin Williams is going to be the next big thing in the NBA he's whipping KG's ass in the playoffs

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
Fuck Marvin Williams, I'd take his girl Candace Parker :lickish:
He is having some success against KG but that's just because Joe Johnson's driving ability is absolutely unbelievable and he's drawing defenders when he gets to the paint. Then he has that sick jumpshot. But I'm surprised with the Hawks I really didn't think they would have this success but I've always thought that the Hawks were the Warriors of the East. While they're not, they are pretty close and they ride energy very well like the Warriors do. Cocky bunch with tons of young talent. Johnson, Williams, Horford and Smith are all young with all the talent in the world.
If they get a point guard who can direct in the fast break better then Bibby then this team is going to be something special. I wouldn't be surprised if Baron opted out if he went to Atlanta, it would be the perfect fit.

To bad you weren't born something other then an Alabama fan. Can't remember the last time anything good happened to Alabama, they got 10 wins and wanted the coach's head? I know its been talked about before but it's amazing how much college football means in other parts of the country. In California I think USC takes about 5th precedent to everyone else's favorite teams. But in the South your fanhood is defined by your college allegiance. When I visited Kansas City it was all Mizzou/Kansas/Kansas St. stuff and this was at Dicks Sporting Goods where you could look outside and see Arrowhead.
In the South, the Titans were OK but I remember our preacher was a Tennessee fan who's gut was ripped from him when Mr. Football (or he was robbed of it anyways) from our church and town went to Kentucky for football instead of to Phillip Fulmer and Tennessee. I remember on signing week he wore a Tennessee hat for the Wednesday service ;D It was all funny though but it would have been his dream to see Artose Pinner who was the guy.
Football when I'm high I just gloss over and fall asleep on the couch usually :-\

Re: We did it for movies, so, what is your favorite sport to watch when stoned?
Personally, I usually find that the games that take a long time and tend to be tactical are very interesting when I'm stoned on the couch.
Basically, cricket, baseball, darts, snooker or even poker are a good watch. Anything that mvoes too fast I just can't follow. Soccer, unless it's Italian is too quick, and I can't even see the puck in Ice Hockey when I'm sober, so when I'm not is just like trying to catch a dog who just stole your shoe and ran off into the garden with it.

Marvin Williams is a beast...he's got it outside and inside and he's still growing he came out after his freshman year.
Watch the Mexican League in Soccer or MLS that's slow enough for you

Well I was young but I remember the 1992 national championship so it hasn't been all bad althought at times its seemed like a downhill slope since then.
Shula sucked, just showed how easy it is to win 10 at Alabama. We just don't have a ton of talent right now, nobody picked in the draft this year. Talent's getting better though, number one recruiting class in the nation last year. Last time we did that we were buying useless fat fuck defensive linemen for 250, 000 dollars. :-\
