Molitor-Caballero - Let's talk here...
Its on boxingscene
Will be in Ontario, Molitor has to beat some no name first, Ceferino something.
-
Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
yeah you mean Ceferino Labarda on Aug 28 or 29 something like that. should be cake for Molitor
-
Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
Fucking great. As a Molitor fan, Caballero's size, reach, and strength, combined with Molitor's recent lack of activity when he gets inside worry me. However, I think (hope) that he'll be able to outbox Caballero all night.
Here's hoping he doesn't overlook the guy he's fighting in Aug.
-
Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
Molitor will beat Caballero.
Molitor UD and I think he beats Caballero pretty comfortably. :)

Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
I like Steve Molitor.I watched him at the IBF challenge when he fought my local hero Hunter back in 10th of November 2006.How come he has been out of the lime light soo long anyhow...was it a injury that he picked up not so long ago?I remember someone mentioning it a while ago,but im unsure!Whats the record of Caballero anyhow? It would be great to see a stream of him on here due to the fact that i have'nt heard of him!
I would totally appreciate it!:)

Molitor has fought 4 times since the Hunter fight. He's been defending his belt in Canada.

Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
Honestly, I think Nglovu, Castillo, and Beltran were all much bigger threats than Conception.
-
Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
You said Hunter was a local hero where you live, what has he been up to since Molitor KO'd him? I checked boxrec, and it says he's had two fights essentially against tomato cans, is he finished?

He lost once early in his career, but he's unbeaten since then. However, he's fought nobody of note. I don't really get the hype about Molitor not fighting him.

Why would'nt Molitor fight him?I think it would have been a really good fight! Two hard fighters!!!!

Re: Molitor-Caballero set for November 21
Ok, from what I can tell, Molitor was offered a fight with Conception on the undercard of Pacquiao-Diaz on the 28th. Molitor took a vacation after his last title defense (he's been fighting ever few months), and I presume that this fight would've come too soon after his last fight and the subsequent vacation. Conception also is not ranked by the IBF, who's belt Molitor holds. I think Molitor would handle Conception though, he's got a big height advantage and Molitor is a great outside fighter.

Im sure Conception will be ranked by the IBF soon enough for the fight to happen.Maybe next year?Damm that would have been a mouth watering bout between them both!

Caballero is a much bigger threat than Conception. I'm hoping that if Molitor unifies he'll fight one of the other belt-holders or Marquez, but if I'm being honest I don't like his chances against Vasquez or Marquez, unless they've destroyed eachother, which is possible.

No, I'm not going. I'd love to, but the fight is in Ont. and I live in B.C., several thousand KM away. You know, if I can find a cheap way to get there I might consider checking it out. I've never actually seen a live fight before.

Agreed 100%
Concepcion still has work to do IMO.
Sometimes these kids go up the rankings so fast that they really haven't been tested then once they go into the ring with Worl Class they fall apart. Concepcions time will come just not now.
Not to be an ass or anything... But the kids name is Concepcion and not Conception... ;D

Whatever the case was...
I also know as a fan alone that theres no money in Molitor-Concepcion.
Theres more money in a unification bout as we've come to learn.

I can't wait for Molitor-Caballero. Do you think he'd have a shot in another unification against Lopez (provided he beat Caballero)?

Crap!!
CFH,
I'm scared to say anything that goes against JuanMa....
Don't want him to make me eat crow again 'ya know. :D
But we'll see how things pan out. Most def. the DPDL win for JuanMa was huge. The only time I remember EVER seeing DPDL hurt was vs. Caballero yrs. ago...
Then JuanMa just batters him completely. Now that is fucking impressive.
People talk so much that DPDL was exposed and that DPDL was unskilled.
Well yeah, we all knew that I mean who didn't know DPDL could be outboxed?
What people needed to realize is the power that this kid JuanMa carries.
With that being said, I think this is your typical puncher vs. boxer fight.
Molitor is one of the more skilled guys in boxing today. Good movement, and he's a thinker hes always one step ahead of his opponents. It's for me to call right now might have to give it more thought.

I don't know, but it is being broadcast on TSN in Canada, so there should be a stream at least.
Molitor by close UD/SD after having to get up off the canvas.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to this one. Us canucks don't have many homegrown fighters to root for.

Caballero-Molitor Super Bantam Unification on Nov. 21
http://www.newmexicoboxing.com/fight...cierva0768.jpg
Celestino "The Towering Inferno" Caballero
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/...Rc2DY/610x.jpg
Steve "The Canadian Kid" Molitor
On Nov. 21, everyone is going to get what they want,” Molitor said. “I’m fighting a legit champion in Celestino Caballero. He’s a world champion that can’t get fights because nobody wants to fight him. Well, guess what? I’m going to put everything I have on the line against the same guy that everybody is running scared from.”
Caballero has largely been avoided despite holding a title for two years. His range, knockout power and intimidating presence scare off most opponents.
“The Towering Inferno,” as Caballero is often called due to his near six-foot frame, does not mind going into Molitor’s backyard if it means adding a second title to his resume.
“When I won my WBA title [in 2006], I did it against Somsak [Singchachawan] in his home country of Thailand,” said Caballero, who is also a southpaw. “I wasn’t favored to win and the site was at some remote temple better accessible by helicopter than by the winding, narrow road that we took.
“No one gave me a chance to win and I ended up winning the belt by third-round TKO. Going to Canada for this fight isn’t a big deal. I’ve won big title fights in hostile territory before.”
Along with his triumph over Singchachawan, Caballero also holds a win against former WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon. His most recent defense was a first-round TKO over Elvis Mejia on Sept. 18, 2008.

Re: Caballero-Molitor Super Bantam Unification on Nov. 21
Early results from FightNews poll favored Caballero both by knockout or decision. I'm also predicting Caballero by KO/TKO...

Re: Caballero-Molitor Super Bantam Unification on Nov. 21
As a big Molitor fan this fight worries me. That being said, Molitor by close UD/SD. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to get up off the canvas to win.

Re: Caballero-Molitor Super Bantam Unification on Nov. 21
This will be a huge test for Steve. I like that he took the fight, as it shows his ambition and desire to succeed. So yea, I will be rooting for him in a big way.
*meh. Cabellaro looks like 8 feet tall in that pic. :headscratch:

Your worries has solid basis... Caballero's range, freakish built and knockout power makes him one of the most avoided boxers... Props to Molitor for taking this fight...
Good to see a Canadian for "The Canadian Kid"...
Unlike those Mexicans rooting for a Philippino boxer... (joke) ;D

As we've discussed, I think Molitor's movement will give Caballero problems, but getting inside on him and actually doing some damage without taking a ton of punishment in return will be his biggest challenge. I guess that's kind of an obvious statement though.
How is Caballero's inside game? I imagine it would be one of his weaker areas.

Not good throwing inside like most tall boxers but Caballero is good in clinching/hugging and pushing his shorter opponents... ;)

That's what I figured.
I know he has good power, but is it one-shot power or more accumulative?

From what I saw in his fights, if you got hit by one or two clean shots from Caballero and got wobbled then you're dead... Caballero with his range can easily tee off some long cracking shots to finish you off both to the body and head...
.

Re: Caballero-Molitor Super Bantam Unification on Nov. 21
One more question, has he ever faced anyone who's style is comparable to Molitor's?
