This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
Sorry, but as a purist and moron I dished the $49.95 for this PPV, but Pac aint worth it to me, I bought it for my passion for the sport but not for the fighter... People can clown Floyd all they want but he was worth more than Pac...
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
How so? Pacquaio is one of the most exciting fighters I've ever seen. Best offensive fighter right now, and always a great fighter.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
I cant be the only one who feels that way
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
Taeth,
I think its the magnitude of his fights... I felt like he was always #2 to Floyd and I think they should have priced his 1st fight as PFP #1 a little better, cause if Diaz beats him the scrutiny will be fierce moving up in weight or not
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
PBF, imo, the best P4P fighter since the turn of the millenium if not longer.
The Pacman is a fantastic fighter but few can achieve greatness like floyd.;)

Lol ;D
I feel sorry for David. What a beatdown.
It's been a while since I've seen Pac scored a 1 punch KO. And he did it against a fighter who fought once at 146.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
As far as entertainment dollar goes, Pac is hard to beat. I like a fighter who can't stand to get hit and not hit back. Pac always struck me as that kind of fighter.
I'm a great admirer of what Floyd does/did in the ring, but I don't discriminate...Pacquiao always brings something exciting to the fight, and to the sport.
He and Floyd are near enough to polar opposites - defense vs. offense. Both have shown they have enough of the other attribute to mention, but for me, it boils down to what you like in a fighter. I like both!!
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
Floyd worth more? Sorry I'm not a big Pacquiao fan and like Floyd but if you are going to bring 20 friends over, drink beer and barbeque, who would you rather have them watch? The answer is clear it's Pacquiao.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
IMO, as I've stated before, It doesn't matter if there is one star it takes good matchmaking for a fight to be worth PPV, nobody is worth it on their own. I know ODLH could sell a ton of PPVs fighting pretty much anyone really, but I'm not gonna be one of those people.
PAC (like any other boxer) is not worth the PPV by themselves, and Diaz was such an obvious mismatch, I elected not to pay for it.
PAC vs. Erik Morales II, now that was worth PPV.
So I kind of agree with you JT, I just think our logic of coming to that conclusion is different.
For me for a PPV to be worth it (speaking only of the main event of course) it requires
1) Great Matchmaking
2) A lot at stake
3) Two fighters that have a chance at winning.
In this case this PPV was clearly set up to give PAC a lightweight belt. And while it is a nice thing for PAC and will look good on his resume it should have been a WCB event not PPV.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
I don't see how anyone could say that you get more entertainment from a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight than from a Pacquiao fight. I think the people who are disappointed aren't the ones who shelled out $49.95 for this fight, but the ones who shelled out $59.95 for that Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Oscar de la Hoya fight.
I think you seriously have to be bitter to watch the display Pacquiao put on and say that wasn't worth your $49.95 but a Floyd fight is.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
How much are most PPV's are they normally cheaper?
$49.95 sounds like a hell of a lot, it cost me £7.99 per month to get Setanta, about $15 and that's for the entire month and they have the UFC.
I think you guys get jobbed on the price really, no way would be 50$ around £25 just to watch a fight, I'd rather Sopcast it for nothing to watch it live and download a perfect copy the next day.
You#re throwing your money down the toilet imo

Bump!
Floyd is my all-time favorite, but the general population that doesn't follow boxing as much as 90% of the members of this forum would appreciate a Pacquiao fight like we saw tonight because they (unlike us;)) are not purists of the sport.
-
Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
So floyd is worth more than pac?
how?
remember celebrities like tiger woods, walking out before floyd vs baldomir even ended they we're so dissapointed?
In pac fights the house is always full and nobody leaves til a winner is anounced.
What is this purist of the sport excuse, boxing would be nearly dead without fighters like pac. Anybody that likes any style of boxing and follows it for years is a purist of the sport. Not just fans who likes hit and run defensive boxers. thats just an excuse to say boring boxers are cool :p
Floyd is not a huge draw, he was made to be like one but really not. Hatton and Oscar brought in all the fans, and reality is the ones floyd brought in are the few that wanted him knocked out.
I hope this isn't a thread made to wind up pacfans, its pretty lame.

Yes, very lame. considering that it was GAME who started it.
GAME is a pure PAC-hater and you know very well brother Julius not to fall into his trap.
Edit: Sorry, I thought JT and GAME are one.It was JT who started this thread and he sounded like GAME. My mistake...

I really don't care who's fighting. Boxing is boxing. I watch it all. Free or not

Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
We get the fights for 39.95 !:o
I wonder why you pay more than us?
Oh I know, at 7 to 8 $ a gallon its our fuel excise where you collect from us.

Thats what I was getting at Sheep but you are the more elquoent one here... I guess besides the JMM fight his other fights IMO were not paperview worthy because of who he was fighting. The faded Mexican stars the past few year Barrera2 Morales3 ... I mean I know I have to accept Pac as #1 but I wanted to be eased into it a little better than $49.95 thats all. Pac was exciting and he dominated thats all you can really ask for

Here's the deal Shame on me for buying the fight at $50 and then complaining about it. Thats on me
You are a diehard pac fan and thats cool and all but at $50 the EVENT should have some good build up and anticipation. From a non pac fan perspective it did not plain and simple. Thats a big turn off, at least with Floyd the promotion is there and it is an anticipated event whether you wanna see Floyd win of get his head knocked off and Diaz certainly wasnt gonna carry the promotion.. Thats my gripe

theres only been two or three well promoted floyd fight.
gatti,hatton, oscar.
Floyd tried hard to whore himself and at times try to play the bad guy the thug but look at floyd his tiny compared to the average "gangsta" thats why he can't make american fans buy into that act. he does not look tough, his not a street guy, its hard to be intimidated by him due to his size. Plus in pacs case, he doesn't need to promote. He does his thang in the ring and thats why everyone loves to watch him. Pac doesnt have to whore himself. what has boxing come to when we are talking about fight promotion, instead of what the fighter does in the ring.
j.t you talk like every floyd fight is huge and worth $50 plus, it never is ok. pac fight is and majority will agree. this fight with diaz, wasn't competative but was a lot better to watch then any floyd fight cause not only pac dominated and box diaz ears off, he also finished him off and its thats much more exciting cause diaz is a former welterweight and pac a former featherweight. unlike floyd hatton, floyd came down from 154, and hatton came up from 140 and floyd was the so called "p4p king" real kings go up in weight class to fight the guys above not below.
Lets compare pac and floyd fights, if you'd like cause if pac isn't worth $50 then nobody in boxing is.

you certainly are entitled to your opinion... Entertainment value is subjective... I gave pac props and credit in another thread I started and said an EVENT like him fighting Hatton or doing the impossible and fighting Cotto or Floyd Etc. That is worth $50 bucks not some guy who was brough to the slaughter... To me its no more impressive than Gatti Mayweather... Dont give that shit either Floyd had moved up in weight plenty and fought the bigger guy, and you no damn well Pac was bigger, stronger and taller than Diaz so skip the symantics already:rolleyes:

no now we know pac is stronger but bigger? nope diaz was a pound heavier on fight night and is naturally bigger. his a former welterweight j.t a former welterweight. yea floyd has gone up in weight as well but pac has gone up more and ktfo of his oppenents. now thats ppv sells buddy.
Pac 106-135 thats 29 pounds up, floyd 130 to 154 thats only 24 pounds up. Plus floyd only fought once at 154 then came back down right away unlike pac his alreayd planning on going up another 5 pounds. that'll be 34 pounds up thats impressive don't you think? AND HIS KNOCKING THESE GUYS THE FOXCK OUT!!!! tell me j.t. who has done what pac is doing in boxing history? thats p4p defined for you in the ring not from his mouth with his fist.

Re: This May Sound Bitter But Pac isin't A $49.95 Fighter
It's easy to get into a Pac vs. PBF argument here, which could go on indefinitely. The deeper issue is why we constantly have to get EVERY fight with either of these guys - or any marquis fighter - on a PPV.
I understand the money side, but I'd rather shell out $50 for an event between TWO fighters of this caliber. Killersheep mentioned this in his post earlier, the matchmaking. I agree there was danger with Pac moving up a weight, since you never know how a fighter will handle a new weight. But that's not really $50 worth of suspense!
I'd love it if PPV, or at least the $50 PPV, were reserved for the megafights. I wouldn't mind shelling out $20 or so just to see my favorite fighters, but $50 is tougher to afford every month!!

Yes because I am a die hard Floyd fan so I feel obligated to do so and yeas I would complain about it;D
This was no different than Gatti vs Mayweather although they were both dominant Floyd put it on him more than Diaz got... but none the less gatti vs Mayweather wasnt a $49.95 fight if memory serves me correct. and it was the same danger level.. most said mayweather couldnt handle gatti's strength and power, and gatti couldnt get a glove on him and was eating 5-7 punch combos with regularity

The PPV was worth it for PACFANS just like what was said, if PBF fought a lesser opponent. I'm not getting into the PBF vs PAC debate, as far as I know PACMAN is the better person out of the ring and that is what matters to us PACQUIAO fans.

So Barrera was washed up when PAC destroyed him in 2003? As far as I can remember MAB was just being celebrated as a pound for pound elite because he just demolished NAZ.
Nobody wanted to fight the then AVOIDED JUAN, PAC stepped up and fought him, that both MAB and EM did not do.
EM did beat PAC but PAC avenged that via Back to back kayoes that nobody has done to EM not Raheem, not MAB and not David Diaz.
I'll ask you this one if PACMAN knocks out Marquez in their trilogy would you consider Marquez washed up then?

Yeah cuz Marquez will be 35 when the fight happens. a decade ago at 25 Marquez would own him . I think Marquez won the 1st two fights anyway but as I already said, Pac would be odds on vs Marquez in the 3rd fight cuz hed be too old and pacs still fresh
So Nov 03 is Pacs last good win over a fighter who wasnt washed up ? Barrera was his worst ever that night and even did better when he was 34 coming off a loss in the rematch.
All we ask for is that Pac fights someone with a pulse . Someone who is young and hungry with a career infront of them not behind them . Thats all . Is it too much to ask off someone who claims to be the best . BTW beating Diaz does not make him the best lightweight. Diaz was barely top 5.

I read somewhere Arum said PAC might fight Valero in November, that's something good right:)
