Boxing badly needed a show, but why oh why would they give it to him?

Even though he can be over the top in a Don King type of way I think he is entertaining and would get non boxing fans to enjoy the program with his over the top statements.

I just think he's a cartoon.

Very Briefly. Not enough to make a true judgement yet Porky.
I'll say one thing for it. Whoever the producer is (I'm sure Bunce contriutes too,) has a lot of good content.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
Bunce kinda went nuclear when they put him on TV didnt he. He knows his stuff alright but it kinda gets lost in all the hysterics, bulging veins and slobber coming out of his gob.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
It's a great little show especially considering they promote fights that are taking place off Setanta. The Willaims-McDermott interview was great.
You would never see that with something on Sky. Who remembers Ringside?
Bunce clearly LOVES boxing. And knows more than any other pundit on the box (just check out the Sky boxing teams P4P lists (;D)).

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
Steve was my Tennis Partner on a Tuesday. Ive watched Him grow up from Boy into a Man. Always Terrific company and a Great Kid who knows his Stuff make no mistake, couldnt play Tennis.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
I must say I quite like Buncey as a pundit, although he does on occasion let his mouth talk himself into a corner.
He's got bags of personality, he'll ask the real questions, and knowledge-wise he's good too. However, as many others have said, dumb time to put it on, and as I can't get Sky+, gonna find it hard to see it.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
I enjoy the show too, as others have said buncey comes across a bit OTT sometimes but similar to Enzo Clazaghe (a lot less irritating though) I think we need these characters to keep more casual fans interested and no doubt Buncey knows his stuff, sure he gest excited a bit but surely thats just because he loves his boxing, i'd rather have that than some no knowledge bbc suit type reading from an autocue. And great point about them promoting fights that arent on setanta (williams and mcdermott yesterday and also talking to fighters/promoters who arent signed with them). Stupid schedule time though! But was repeated yesterday at 6 (and i do believe 7 and 11.30) on either setanta 1 or 2 so hopefully even if they dont change the schedule time they will continue to repeat it later in the day.

How can you not like the guy? He makes me laugh everytime I see him, he's a funny guy and I love listening to him.

Wow hold on a minute! Colin Hart still does a bit on Sky and no matter what anyone says Buncey doesn't know as much as Colin he is the boxing oracle!!!!!

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
Bunce is a massive personality, great for boxing. People who slag him for slagging off sake are pathetic.
-
Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
I like Steve, he is entertaining and knowledgeable, but does go way over the top but the show is good.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
I may not be the most qualified to speak on Bunce given me only having seen him a handful of times, but he always seems to come off as a bit of an ass to me. Never more then the Wlad-Thompson fight where he was disappointed in the fight and rightfully so. But after the fight he was just childish imo, maybe it was in haste or disgust, but I was a bit perturbed when he blamed it all on the American heavyweights, and that no American fighter should get a title fight for 5 years, they are all gutless, spineless ect. Those were his words.
Now, I admit that the heavyweight boxers in America have been pretty lacking lately, but who the hell is an English sports pundit to talk about gutless, spineless heavyweights making for boring fights? Excuse me, Audley, Danny, Skelton, Sprott ect. The British heavyweights are none for the better at all. It just bothered me. America has some exciting heavyweights out there, just the talent level isn't high. Britain doesn't have any talented heavyweights either but the difference is the majority of them suck to watch imo. This is true for the heavyweight division in general, so for him to single out American heavyweights just kind of pissed me off, thought it was unprofessional.
But I can see how someone like that who obviously has a passion (although at times misguided imo) can grow on someone. After all, just tune in any Wednesday or Friday to watch ESPN2 and see Teddy Atlas. I can't imagine how he is recieved overseas, it can't be good. But he's someone who FNF just would not be the same without.

haha quality stuff mate!!
I met him on my first Saddo's assignment (Harrison v Williams press conference in London) a few years ago and got a pic with him etc and he was sound as a pound.
Saw him at the York Hall for Haye v Fragomeni and he recognised me and took time out to say..."ello Fella"
Top fella and he seriously knows his fight history.

Yeah he does go off on one sometimes. That is sometimes as in ALL the time.
He was always shouting about Chazz Witherspoon being the "saviour" of the heavyweights a couple of years back. ;D
I don't think he was having a pop at America, amat. Just depressing that how could Thompson be the best America has to offer? He can't say that shit about the Brit heavyweights - publicly - because he has to interview/chat/see them all the time ;)

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
Sounds like a decent shoe, didn't realise they had a lot of interviews and that. His enthusiasm can be misplaced and annoying, but he's ten times better than the dull Hart, he was commentating on the contender UK v US and he was excruciating.

Re: "Steve Bunces Boxing Hour" on Setanta News
Ive known Colin years, I have the same opinion of Him now as I did when I first met Him 40 years ago. He only listens when He is talking Arsehole. Buncy Lives Boxing, He does go on a bit but a good listener. Youll see him at Junior Amatuer shows all over the country He loves Boxing. Hes one of your own comes on Boxing sites Regular and will argue the Toss with anybody. So does Rawlins.
